Lyrical Laments - 17. Chapter 17: Shivers

Time to lament....

*

Shiver

Melancholy seeps in like dew

Coating my entirety

With no warning

Like the sun slipping behind clouds

On a warm day

A chill induces a shiver

And the shiver settles

In the pit of my stomach

And I am owned

Some days are easy

Some aren’t

Some pains are easy

Some aren’t

Some memories are easy

Some aren’t

Some regrets are easy

Some aren’t

Some absences are easy

Some aren’t

Life isn’t easy

Letting go isn’t either

Of a callous nature

It’s a wall that grows taller

And hurts even when ignored

It saddens me

This harshness I see

It makes me lose faith

In friendships

In people

And as much as I won’t suffer fools

It unbalances my world

Some see beauty in the matador

Some see cruelty

Some see a tribute

To our barbarian nature

That… does not excuse it

We can be better

We should be better

Life is food

But death should never be sport

People should never be pawns

Used to further darkness

I curse manipulators

Who lie with the ease of breathing

And care only for adulation

But, it’s false worship

For false victories

This symbiosis

Offered by the weak

The lonely

The broken

The forgotten

In the end, no one wins

I don't know any other way than to write what I feel. Thanks for indulging my need to cleanse my mind. :)

I know that writing can ease the ache of melancholy and recollection. I’m so sorry for the hurt you feel. If my hug can help brighten the sky even a little, then I offer mine to you.

Thanks for reading, Parker. :)

Catharsis ... We gather these feelings until there is no recourse but to open the spillways and let the floods spill forth.

Hmm, I'm envious.  In a few lines you've summarized the point of my 57 chapter story dealing with the recovery of pains from my past...and I'm not done yet.  Sigh.

Mucho hugs my dear.

Yeah, until the next time. Thanks, Terry. Poetry has been a savior at times... times when I can't speak the words in any way other than in writing. Appreciate you reading my poetry.
