Confused - Until Bart Met Noah - 3. Building a Relationship, But With Speed Bumps

It probably is unnecessary since the story is tagged with it, but the sex begins.

Bart and Noah started seeing each other once or twice a week. Working at an auto dealership, like Noah indicated, typically consisted of long hours and working nearly every day. He did have Thursdays and every other Sunday off; except the last week of the month, so those became their 'date nights.' Bart's schedule at the hotel wasn't much better, but he was able to leave by six o'clock most days. He usually tried to take Sundays off, but with Noah working most of them, Bart still spent some time at the hotel most Sundays. He made sure to try to get out earlier on Thursdays.

Two months had gone by since Noah helped Bart move in. They agreed it was time to watch one of Bart's movies together. They'd kissed a number of times, most recently very hot and heavy. They'd also started performing mutual masturbation, but both were feeling the need for more. They decided they'd mimic one of the scenes in one of Bart's favorite movies, 'Two Guys, Par Four.' The meaning of the four should be obvious with the not-so-subtle golf reference.

The movie started with Bart and Noah sitting naked, close together on his living room sofa. It wasn't long before they were making out and fondling each other. The next scene in the movie had one of the actors starting to suck on the other's dick. Noah followed suit. Bart gasped when Noah took his member into his mouth for the first time. The movie forgotten, Bart held off for as long as he could before explosively releasing his semen into Noah's impatient mouth.

Bart was nearly out of breath, but still tried to compliment Noah, "Wow! You're... good... at that."

"Thanks. I've had a little practice. I hope that doesn't bother you."

Taking an extra moment to catch his breath, Bart replied, "Not at all. I'm not a blowjob virgin either, having given more than a few myself."

"Well, feel like letting me be the recipient of your next one?"

"Hmmmm, yeah, I think I can make that happen."

Bart made it happen. Noah was similarly out of breath afterwards, "Yeah... you ain't... so bad... yourself."

They continued to experience oral love together for another month or so. That's when Bart got a call from his younger sister, Lila. Fortunately for Bart, due to the circumstances, it was a Saturday, and he was off the next day.

"Hi Bart."

"Hey, Lila. How are you doing?"

"I'm okay. Mom, not so much."

Alarmed, Bart exclaimed, "What happened?"

"Don't get upset. She's fine. But I had to tell her dad died and it has her a little out of sorts."

"I can understand that. She never stopped loving the bastard."

"Yeah. I know you're busy with the hotel and everything, but do you think you can make it over to the house soon?"

"Of course. I'll have to change my plans for tomorrow, but I'll for sure be there."

"Good. I can't get there until mid to late afternoon, so..."

"I'll head over in the morning. No sweat."

"Thanks. I guess I'll see you tomorrow. Love ya."

"Love you too, sis."

Bart had to take a couple deep breaths. Even there was no love lost between he and his father, it still hit him hard. He looked at his phone. It was just after seven o'clock. He figured Noah was probably still at work and decided to text him.

'Hi Nomes. Got some news from home, I'm going to have to cancel tomorrow. The dickhead died and mom needs Lila and me.'

It took a few minutes, which was not unexpected at all, before Noah replied.

'Sorry to hear that, Hammer. You want company? I'm off all day.'

'Yeah, that'd be good. I haven't seen him in over twenty years, but I'm still a little shaken.'

'K. LMK what time you want to leave, I'll be home. No point in me driving down there to come right back up this way.'

'Makes sense. Thanks.'

Next, Bart made a phone call to his mother.

"Hey, mom."

"Hi Bart, honey. I suppose you heard."

"Yeah, Lila just called. How are you holding up?"

"I guess as well as could be expected. It's been a long time since I heard from him."

Bart knew Lila had told her, but he wanted to see what his mom wanted to say about it, "How did you find out?"

"Apparently, he got in touch with Lila a few months ago. The cancer came on fast and he needed to name an executor, well, executrix, I guess, for his will. She called me."

"I guess he knew that I would have hung up on him."

"Maybe."

"Well, she said you were a little out of sorts. So, I'll be there in the morning."

"You don't have to come. I know how you felt about your father."

"This isn't about him, it's about you. Besides, someone will be coming with me I want you to meet."

"Not another short-term beau, I hope."

"No, I think this one will be for keeps."

"Congratulations, and I hope you're right."

"Thanks. Me too. We'll probably get there around ten, I'm only an hour away."

"I know. You come see me quite often. See you tomorrow, then. Bye, honey."

"Bye, mom."

Bart shot another text to Noah, saying he'd be at Noah's place around 9:30. After that, he sat in his living room and stared at the wall until he felt himself dropping off to sleep. It was still early, but time to go to bed regardless.

The next morning, Bart arrived at Noah's one minute past 9:30. Noah let him with a hug and a kiss.

Noah took one look at Bart, and was immediately sympathetic, "I know you weren't crazy about the man, but you're obviously at least a little upset."

"Yeah. I guess from remembering the better times, before he skipped out on us."

"We'll take my car; you program your mom's address into my GPS and just relax."

Just under thirty minutes later, they were pulling into the driveway of Bart's childhood home. His mom opened the door as they were walking up to it. They walked inside, and like moms everywhere, they were immediately offered breakfast.

"Come. We'll sit around the kitchen table so I can get to know this handsome man you came in with."

So, Mrs. Hamilton heard everything about Noah that he was willing to share. She liked him immensely, smiling and winking at Bart when Noah wasn't looking.

Lila arrived from Charlotte, North Carolina, around four PM. Like her mother, she approved of Noah. Plans were made for Lila and Betty, Mrs. Hamilton, to fly to Raleigh the next day to meet with the funeral director and attend the funeral. They both understood why Bart had no desire to attend.

After a dinner out at a local restaurant, Bart and Noah left to return home around ten PM. Bart was emotionally drained from the day. He had called his assistant manager earlier to let her know that he would be taking Monday off. After arriving at Noah's condo, Bart had second thoughts about not attending the funeral.

Noah tried to help him out, "When was the last time you saw him, or even spoke to him?"

"I don't remember exactly, but it was early in seventh grade. Late October, maybe. He left for work one day, called mom that evening, and never came back. I never saw or spoke to him again. So that morning at breakfast, I guess. Almost twenty-two years ago."

"And you were angry that he left you."

"Angry? No, I was fucking enraged that he would just disappear like that. I hated him."

"How long did you hate him?"

"What's today's date?"

"Got it; you never stopped hating him. Pick a person you went to high school with. If you hated them since high school, would you go to their funeral?"

"No, of course not. But he was my father."

"The key word there is 'was.' He stopped being your father a long time ago. Now, he's just someone you knew into high school and have hated ever since. If you wouldn't go to that hypothetical person's funeral, why go to his?"

"I guess you're right. I'm just so... I don't know. Part of me thinks I should go, but another part of me is glad it's happening in another state."

"Would you regret not seeing a dead body lying in a casket, that has no idea you're even there?"

"Geez. When you put it that way? No."

"Good. That's settled. Let's go to bed. You're exhausted, I'm not letting you drive forty minutes back to your apartment."

"But I don't have anything to sleep in."

"So?"
