The Mardi Gras Murders

   (7 reviews)

In a world where everything is not as it seems, a hotshot young police officer has been posted to an inner city station, just prior to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Was his appointment a political one, with his superiors knowing more about his past than even he cares to remember? Or is that past about to catch up with him? What comes next? Only time will tell!

What can I say? I think this one has it all really.
Romance! Sex! Action! Suspense! Murder! Rent boys! Bent cops! Politicians on the take! And more!
You have been warned! Please enjoy!

We follow a young hotshot police detective as he is posted to an inner city police station, just before Sydney Pride.

What follows is a complex investigation, that will stir up memories for the detective.

We have murder, child prostitution and other to be investigated.

But this story also gives us love, humour, life and hope for the future, of the various people we will meet.

Give this a read, you will not be disappointed.

Such a good story that, I confess, I couldn’t wait for indiv chapters and read it elsewhere in a dash to find out the ending!

an excellent story with depth and true character development.   Hopefully my stories might get close to this……. One day.

A riveting story from go to whoa from the pen of our Aussie “stallion” @Mark Ponyboy Peters. A story set against the backdrop of the impending annual Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras (its formal title).

Thrust into the limelight, Rick Cooper, a new recruit in the “gayest police precinct” in NSW (and likely all of Australia), arrives with an emotional wound which has never healed, the murder of his teenage boyfriend some five years prior as they finished high school.

What occurs thereafter as his boyfriend’s murderer appears to have resurfaced, leaves the reader speculating and wanting more as the tension rises. Friends from Rick's past and newly made friends, including a new boyfriend, rally around Rick as he relentlessly pursues his boyfriend’s murderer, and coincidentally (perhaps) those involved in a child prostitution ring who have used, and in several cases murdered, young teen boys whose lives have been devastated.

A brilliantly written story, which leaves one speculating to the very end, in fact, the Epilogue even has a reveal which surprised me no end, you could have knocked me over with a feather.

As the author promised this one truly has it all.

Characters that grip you from introduction to conclusion.  They all worm themselves into your psyche and you find you can't wait to find out what happens to them.

A mystery of young love torn asunder by a brutal murder.  The surviving partner and the others family linked together by love but also a hope for answers.

A young police officer pushed into a top division for uncertain reasons, then immediately engulfed in crimes almost too horrible to imagine.  Will he rise to the occasion?

Read this amazing tale, you certainly will not be disappointed.

This is a packed mystery and romance story. Detective Constable Rick Cooper is transferred to a Sydney precinct. He has a painful past and now a good friend who could be more to help him along. Along the way Rick connects several murders, his police mates and a wide-ranging sexual predator/human trafficking scandal that will totally shake things up.

He is challenged to solve the crimes , save people and bring the right people to justice. How far will he succeed? Who will be killed and imprisoned?

Thus is an interesting mystery with surprises that will keep your attention, if you decide to read it.
