Delicious Delights - 1. Dishes & Snacks

# 1
Little chocolate things, hand-dipped, it says,
bitter-sweet,
sprinkled with sea salt,
delicious, crisp, and crunchy.
With—legs?

#2
A shallow pond, confined by earthen blue,
its steaming surface mirrors timid sticks,
not ready yet to dip their tips into
and snatch a fish from the intriguing mix.
It's time to be audacious! Dive in, plunge,
twist, grab, catch, grasp before it slips away
and vanishes into the obscure. Lunge!
Tart liquid drips from your limp reward. Yay!
Various leaves float between long, white snakes,
away they twitch at every probing touch,
and bright chunks shake, the red dragon awakes,
its fiery breath blisters your guts. Too much?

A hearty broth infused heavily with
star anise, onion, garlic: breakfast bliss.

#3
A shot of black, acrid, and hot,
served with a small slice of lemon
will shoot you straight into heaven,
and cure a headache, or seven.
A Romano.

A glass of coffee piping hot,
In dropped a lump of red ember,
they say the bubbling, sizzling pot
will cure a cross stomach's temper.
A Kopi Joss

#4
A soft predator
quickly flees by propulsion,
pasta in summer.

A plume of dark ink
ejected to blur and hide,
spaghetti nero.

A cook mocks their prey
by making a special sauce
from their camouflage.

I'm curious, can you guess the dishes?
Thank you, for reading my poems.
Any reaction and/or comment is appreciated.

A fun and funny group of delightful dishes!  Thanks so much! Aditus.

I had a list similar to AC's list.

1. AC guessed chocolate frogs (delicious).  I guessed chocolate covered ants (You would need to hide the legs with a lot of dark chocolate to tempt me.)

2.  AC guessed ramen as did I, but living in Thailand I love it for breakfast and lunch. It's a very common meal in Thailand with a variety of savory soups in which the vegetables, meats, fish, seafood and noodles swim.

3.  AC guessed espresso as did I.  I did forget the lemon on New Years Day and regretted it.  With the kopi joss in question, I had to look it up.  Let's just say it sounds medicinal.

4.  We both guessed the same for the squid ink spaghetti, but here is my recommendation for the restaurant.  Click here  It's closer to home for me.

Thank you, Terry!

1. Chocolate makes (hides) almost everything better.

2. The theme was exploration, so why not have savory soup for breakfast? You're right.

3. Never forget the lemon! :gikkle:

4. I won't touch this kind of pasta as I'm vegetarian, but, if I'd ever try it, I'd choose my cousin's version: Sicily meets Venice! (secret family recipe)

I guess I should not post the picture of the pasta from my favorite restaurant.  Thais love to garnish their food, but the garnish for this is way over the top with the ink dyed tentacles and contrasting white slivers of parmesan cheese.  😜

Intriguing, arousing my curiosity, yet very entertaining as my mind went different places. #2 made me want soup... I have half a roasted chicken that is now destined for the soup pot. I must say you made the game of soup sound fun.

I had chocolate covered ants from my uncle as a kid... at least that's what he told me and my cousins they were, after we ate them. In hindsight, he might have been pulling our legs. :)

I had to look up Kopi Joss, but I don't drink coffee anymore, so it's out for me. However, I still remember the taste, and I think I would try this delight if I did still partake.

Loved the last poem as well, and could picture the squid, but nah... not in my pasta.  I'll be adventurous with poetry, not my pasta. :P

Thanks for these, Adi. As I said, entertaining... you never disappoint. Cheers!
