I like the pace of the story. At first I thought this battle was taking place during WWI, but it quickly evolved into another time and place. Tactics were played out to achieve the strategic goal. Good story.

Thank you, Carl! I did pick up on a technology more aligned with an earlier century. It's not exactly steampunk, as that's often Victorian, but I do like fantasy magic mixed with a more mechanical technology setting for sure. I'm really glad the battle scene and storyline played out well; I wrote it over 3 different days, so I was worried the flow would be off. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review!

If you're open minded and enjoy reading about alternative realities, then this short story is for you.  A military leader named Callim is leading his troops against an army of demons to prevent them from being able to invade the earth.  If you've ever wondered how military leaders can send men into battle, knowing many of them won't return and others will return but never be the same again, then this story will give you a glimpse at how this military leader deals with that knowledge and those fears.
