Ronyx is one of my favorite authors.  I have been fortunate to exchange some emails with him and I know that some time ago, he felt sort of 'burnt out' and didn't have any new stories for a while.  But then, he wrote "Dancing on a Star" - which deserves its own review - and "Stuff People Do".

I discovered his writings and went to the website that hosts ALL his stories and read like a crack-obsessed maniac.

Sheesh, he hits all my buttons with his prose.  I love teen angst, impossible situations and conflicts with peers, parents and pressuring groups and adults.

You can peruse his other writings and read his masterful use of all those things, but "Stuff People Do" transcends all those boundaries.  Matt Stevens is a teenager - a sophomore in High School - who lives in a home with seriously repressive parents.  He is so repressed, he doesn't even think about sex at 16 years of age!

Ronyx takes us through a roller-coaster ride that is just earth shaking!  Matt has an encounter with a gay friend that leaves him doubting his own sexuality for the first time.  It evolves into an encounter with his parents that puts him into places no child would want to be in.

Without creating spoilers, all I will say is that the author has painted such a palette of emotions and situations that this work is worthy of very high praise.  What a master wordsmith the author has been!  And...how much work does it take to put down almost 93,000 words?

Thank you, Ronyx.  Those of us who merely read really do appreciate all your hard work.  A Zillion thanks.

Dave

Damn it Ronyx, you caught me up in one of your stories AGAIN! Thanks for another emotional rollercoaster!

I seriously wanted to bail at the start of Chapter 10. Matt deserved so much better.

But, he prevailed, and made it through some very rough years and events.

In the end, he got huge karmic payback, and can move on with his (much more normal) happy life.

Stop it, seriously. Just stop it. 😉

When will the next story come out? 😄😄😄

This is a story that will tell a tale much deeper that the story itself.  This is a story of a wonderful young man that has been caught in the vicious realm of religious zealotry. Because of this he is cast out and left to the harshness of the city streets.  Read on as @Ronyxtells a tale of anger, hatred, pain, caring, growth and acceptance. Travel this road with Matt, Trent, Evan, Hayden and others that light the way to a new beginning.  You will not be sorry!!!

This is another fantastic story from @Ronyx, up there with his greatest offerings.

This story will tug at your heartstrings. This story follows Matt, a typical 16 year old making good grades at school. The only issue for Matt is he's gay and he has got very Religious Parents.

Things go wrong for Matt when his best friend kisses him. What happens is something that should never happen, his parents send him for conversion therapy, when that fails, they throw him out and disown him.

We follow Matt as he lives on the street, learning to survive and trying to turn his life around.

You will be brought to tears with this story.

A truly fantastic story that deserves to be read.

I cannot say that this is this authors best story. Why you ask? If I say this was his best story someone  will say "No way it was A Bridge To Yesterday" another will say it was it was  You Promised Me A Tomorrow another will chime in with A Delicate Situation and someone else would say you are all wrong it's A Mourning Storm in every example one can make a great case for every story mentioned and they would not be wrong. It's like trying to say what is the best Beatles song you can't do it because there are so many of them same thing here.

Having said that this story absolutely belongs in that discussion. The topic of teens being kicked out of their homes because they are gay is not unusual in GA stories but sadly it doesn't get the proper attention in mainstream society and media.People with extreme religious views lead by leaders who are frauds are the culprits in this story.Sadly there are many real life examples. The way this authors tells the story he will have you crying a lot and he might get you angry in places but in the end he will have you smiling....again

Abandonment, despair, tragedy, and perseverance accurately describes this story. Matt’s journey was traumatic, but realistically presented the unique challenges faced by gay people.

As with previous works by this author, the path of least resistance is rarely used. The characters traverse authentic trials and tribulations, and the ultimate outcome is left for the reader to imagine.

This was the first story by @Ronyx I have red, and still one of my favorites. This author is famous for his socially engaged themes. Whether it is racial, sexual or some other sort of discrimination, Ronix goes deep in the topic, exploring characters, emotions and human behavior.

Disowned by deeply religious and selfish parents, abused by fanatic and hypocritical pastor, Matt - once good boy and promising student, find himself surviving on the streets. In a twist of fate, Matt is in position to help the boys from the street. As being one of them, it is not the knowledge from the books that can help them, but the same experience Matt is sharing with boys. These are so beautiful and emotional scenes that they will bring tears on your face. We can call Matt a hero, but he would correct us by saying that he is just a survivor.
