Story Archive Update - 9/19/2021

Greetings all!  We have once again made some updates to our Story Archive.  There are two big ones that affect readers.  We have added "Highest Chapter Read" to the "My Reading History" page.  (For those of you that have opted-in to reading history.) There is also now a note in the reading History description, blue box as of this writing, that tells you how many stories and how long the stories will stay in the Reading History.  I also added some notes to the image as some helpfu

July 2021 Newsletter

Hi All!  This email went out on July 5th.  Unfortunately, it has been brought to our attention that not everyone got.  Investing the report, I found we were about 1000 people short of what should have sent for reason unknown.  I therefore am posting it here so people don't get spammed if we posted it again.    Thank You, Subscribers! Thank you to all our Premium Membership subscribers.  Premium keeps the lights on here at Gay Authors and we invest in new content as well as further

Changes Coming to Profiles

As the schedule currently sits, we are planning on upgrading the forum software to the newest version in the next couple of weeks depending on how the software patching process for the Stories Archive software goes.  As part of that roll out, I'll be changing how we handle new member registration as well as the information available in the profile.  One of the more visible changes is that we are going to remove the birthday and Age in Years fields and replace it with the Age Range demographic op

Consolidating Blogs

As you may have read in the "Blog Updates" Announcement, we have consolidated various site blogs down to 2 different blogs. One for Writing and one for everything else.  The big tool that allows us to do that, and still find content is the "View a Category" option.  Here is an example from the Writing World Blog: When you select it, the categories pop up and you can select which ones you want to read.  Unfortunately, we have to manually update all the blogs to categorize them.  So the

Writing Tips Upgrades to Writing World

As part of the always ongoing site improvements, we are in the process of changing up the blogs.  We are taking the opportunity to consolidate blogs now that categories are working again in the blog software.  As part of that change, we've designated this blog to be the center of our Writing news.  So, Writing Tips is now Writing World.  We encourage all our site authors to follow this blog and to let us know if you want to see something else featured in this blog.

As many of you know, we have an absolutely wonderful team of reviewers here at Gay Authors. The are the ones responsible for all the wonderful reviews you see at least once a month, sometimes twice! 2021 Anthology #1 - Themes and Deadlines

So, this isn't going to be the full announcement for the 1st anthology of the year, but I did want to announce the themes and the deadline.  A more in depth announcement will occur after the current anthology is finished posting.  One thing I want to point out, for 2021 there will be two main themes per anthology and a pot luck. The pot luck includes MANY theme options for if you don't like the main theme options. The number of themes used this upcoming year will help determine the number of pot

Return of the Weekly Writing Tips

Greetings everyone! I'm happy to announce that we will be returning next week with a weekly writing-related tip in our Writing Tip blog. We will feature the blog on Saturday mornings. For those authors that were following in the late 2018-early 2019 timeframe, we had a separate blog called "Gay Authors Articles." We will be updating these blog posts with additional links and resources and reposting them as we go. The Writing Tips in the Stories Archive will also eventually be consolidated to the

Well, that's it for this years voting!  The voting was for the top 4 themes to use in the first two themes of the year 2021. The remaining themes have been put through the list randomizer at random.org and will be split up for the potluck for those same themes. Since there were 43 themes left over after the top themes were chosen, one anthology will have 21 themes in the potluck, and the other will have 22 themes. The third and final theme for the year will be a Pre-2021 Anthology Themes and won

The Future of GA Anthologies

In 2012, I took over from Graeme to become the latest Anthology Coordinator. I want to make it clear, I'm a volunteer, just like all the other staff on site and I don't volunteer for the kudos, the recognition, or any reason other than I want to contribute to the site. In the 8 years since I took over the anthology, I have tried my best to improve the anthologies. Some of these changes have met with approval (with only a few complaints), and some of them have been met with numerous complaints (a

GA's Newest Promising Author: Wayne Gray

Please join myself and the Author Promotion Team in congratulating @Wayne Gray in becoming GA's newest Promising Author. Wayne joined GA in February 2019, bringing with him a wonderful collection of stories. Not only did he post those previously written stories, but he's continued to add new stories and poetry while he's been a member. Check out Ash and Ember for a story about someone down on their luck, but too proud to accept charity, or Camp Refuge about the creation of a camping ground

We have patched the site with the latest update.  There are a handful of requested changes in this update. Story System Reputation First up, on the Authors listing, we can now sort by "Highest Story Reputation" Under an author's icon, you'll now see 2 numbers.  The Green number is the Site Reputation Total.  (The likes across the entire site).  The number in the gray box is the Story Reputation. (This is the likes from just the stories/chapters/comments in the story system)

Author and Story Discussion Links

With the latest update to the Stories archive, you can now assign default discussion locations for both Author and Stories.  This gives authors one more change for interacting with their readers. I have added FAQ entries for these two new options:

New Stories Update Mar 5, 2020

By now, you have probably noticed that we have upgraded the Stories software on the site.  There are a bunch of what I would call quality of life updates and a major new feature. There is now an easy way to update your Author Profile area: For promoted author, you can now update your logo here yourself.  Banners need to be 848x121 pixels. All authors will be able to add their website link and author bio.  This is also where future Author Profile fields will show up, if/when
