Old Stories and the need to Grow

Some people who follow my stories may notice that three of my stories are no longer available. The stories "Eternity", "Secret Admirer Revealed", and "Eternal Christmas", have been unpublished at this time. They will be back up eventually, but right now there is no timetable as that project is being done in the midst of all my other projects. The reason for their temporary removal is very simply. In going through some of my older stories, I cringe when I read them. I have grown so much as a writer and I want all my stories to reflect that.

In between working on other projects, I will be doing a complete revision on the three stories named. Another issue I ran across is that "Eternal Christmas" was extremely rushed. I decided less than a week before Christmas that I wanted to release a Christmas story that year and sat down and wrote "Eternal Christmas" in the span of about four days. When I am finished, I am hoping that it will be another chapter story.

Over the next little while I hope to revamp more than just these three, but for now, those are the ones I am going to be focusing on. Eternity was the first M/M romance I ever wrote and it's easy to tell. Hopefully, after the new version appears, I'll hear from some of you on what you think, and if you had read the previous version, whether or not I was able to improve on the story!

Okay... still plan to revise the story, but I'm going to leave it up for now....

Renee,

I'll be interested to see how this goes. My own experience with re-writing/editing stories suggests that it's an effort that almost solely benefits the author. I did that with one of my stories ("BeRad"), re-wrote about the first 15 chapters, and while I didn't get any comments or feedback on the changes, I was much happier with the result in the end. So now when I venture down that road, I have to do it with the attitude that I'm doing it for me, and that my readers have moved on and are waiting for what's new and what's next. You may end up with a different result, but I thought I'd let you know what my foray into that world yielded.

Mark.

Yeah Nephy, I agree... I've grown a lot since I wrote Eternity, so it's sure to come out differently now. Guess we'll see!

Hey Mark~Thanks for taking the time to write a response to this. I think for the most part I am doing it for me, though I've also had a couple people tell me that they are waiting to read it until after I do the rewrite. There are so many things with this story, and one of my other ones, that I go back and cringe as I read through them. I want to get all of them up to the level that I currently write at.  That may or may not bring me more reviews, but only time will tell what is going to happen. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with me. It will help me from being too disappointed or getting my hopes up to high!

Hugs

~Renee
