That was great... some of those steps I already follow when self-editing, a couple I need to add. The glue words in particular have become a sticking point for me. Kitt has mostly cured me of using THAT and I never had a strong inclination to spread JUST around. I look for those and others in my self-edits. But I find myself cringing when I see so many stories on GA riddled with them.

Do a search for any of those words and see how many you can eliminate. It'll make the righting tighter and cleaner.

Another informative tool. Thanks, Cia. My goal with every chapter is to make my editor's job simpler. I find I enjoy the process.

the cliche one is my favorite. I see published authors who use them and it rubs me in all the wrong ways. It strikes me as a lazy moment in their work. And simplifying for clarity (Glue words) is something we can all work at from time to time. :)
