My sister is somewhat of a Kevin Smith freak. In fact Kevin Smith is the only person that she would screw on personality alone, or so she claims. Anyhow, after the disasterous screening of Fred Claus (two snaps down, wayyyyyy down) with Viv, my sister suggested we watch this DVD she rented from Netflix called Small Town Gay Bar. It was pretty interesting, and reminds some of us in more liberal populations of the fight that is still out there.

in fact my sister posed the comment, "I didn't know it was still like that anywhere."

Perhaps a bit nieve on her part, but still it was neat that she went out and rented it of her own accord.

It was a pretty good documentary in my opinion even though some queen decries it on IMDB.COM. Poor old queen would rather ignor the hate that will spill over and affect us all if we don't fight it.

Yeah it sucks seeing 6 year olds holding signs that read "God Hates Fags", but the monster in our closet that is Westboro isnt going to go away simply because we dont want it to be there. It's one of those bad monsters that feed on fear and ignorance. The film shines a directed light on that fear and ignorance, by highlighting the torture and murder of Scotty Weaver, and an interview with the false prophet Fred Phelps.

It's amazing how these people preach from the pulpit, forgetting a basic tennent in Christianity.

Judge not, least ye be judged...

With that in mind, I'll see you in Hell Fred.
