I'm a newbie  , but I have read every Dom story available at least three times before I actually joined GA (I just discovered it in January and have spent all of my time lurking around the story archive). I have tonight been going through the different posts on the forum and I must know; what is a rainbow and what is a darksider? Please help.

Hi...and welcome.

I am Michael...one of the Rainbowers....it began as a joke..I am the one that always sends Rainbow Sunshine, Rainbow Hugs, Hershey Kisses and Rainbow Jelly Beans as a way to sign off..

Let's just say that those of us on the Rainbow side (Conner, Kitty, Sweet Mag and Kel) are viewed by those on the darkside (taken from Star Wars) as too "sunshiney", bright and optimistic about life...

so, it took off from there in Dom's forum....and when we all joined GayAuthors Forum, it found its way here...it is good natured for the most part and we try not to on either side get too personal...but you will see in posts that we kid each other back and forth.....

I am not sure that helps...its late and I am not sure I giving you the essence of it (it reminds of the optimists vs. the pessimists but the Dark Siders would say we Rainbow types are too optimistic and cheery and they are realistic and see life as it is)

I say we Rainbowers follow the Rainbow rule and to remember that its cool to be nice and optimistic and yes, we Rainbowers do even have a sense of humor.

Well, I am sure, if Conner, Kitty, Kel and Sweet Mag see this, I hope they add to it..I am sure you will hear from the Darksiders.....

I still say Sharon is not a Darksider..she is really just a sharp, witty funny person....she says she is sarcastic..she is..but a funny sarcastic (if that make sense...anyone who drives barefoot and is a super cool Mom to let her daughter have pink tip hair and join our crazy forum is all right by me:)

so, I say welcome Slaveboy..I hope that helps and to you I say join in the fun and send to you Lots of

Rainbow Sunshine, Rainbow Hugs, Hershey Kisses and Rainbow Jelly Beans and a Big Rainbow Welcome:)

Michael

I have a unique (and therefore correct) view on the whole thing. I did not come from the yahoo group. I read The Log Way on Nifty, but didn't join the group, I was a closet user. I lurked at GA because I was a big fan of dkstories's writing. After Dom's group moved here, I became a member and posted on Dan's forums. One day I ventured over to Dom's forums and saw a strange world. I ultimately acknowledged, publically, my Domaholism Coming Clean

Originally in a pack by myself, I didn't choose a side, I walked my own path. Ultimately, I realized I was walking next to the same members time and time again. I acknowledge that there must be a loose association between these Darksiders and myself. I do call them 'friend'. So, while I may respond to every post you make (I seem to be unable to control myself), I seldom bite and always am looking for more people to walk with me.

I'm sorry Vic, have you read your own blog? Sharon may be sane (although her very presence seems to disprove that hypothesis)

That said, slaveboy (and this whole thread is your fault you know :P ), do not mistake those of us who lean toward the dark as accepting evil. We may disagree on the methods, philosophy, and where the actual lines are, but we all seek to promote a better forum and a better world through acceptance. We of the Dark side just prefer our mead a bit more dry.

I agree with the darksiders. Quinn has his head so far up his ass he must be breaking at least three sodomy laws. I am afraid I can never be on the rainbow side because I am far too melancholic. I am moody, angry, and will say anything to anyone at any time. So, I choose the darkside.

P.S. If I chose the darkside, do I get to shoot those cool lightning thingies out of my fingers?

In time young one, in time.

I see great things in your future.

Snow Dog, I'm the psychic one around here. And what's with the free the tree thing? I think freeing the plasma that has been trapped and used by the cruel humans for televisions is much more important. Plasma is crucial for our existence and humankind is carelessly puting it behind glass screens and watching it light up. It makes me sick.

If simply stating something makes it so, then I am Emperor and you should bow before me slaveboy.

As to the Tree? Well, I think he is taking steps to free himself. The sig will change when it no longer serves my purpose.

As to plasma, one cannot underesimate how crucial plasma is on this planet for our warmth and oxygen, as well as protecting us from a universe that is not overly supportive of life. Man does not "put" the plasma behind the glass, we simply create the plasma that would otherwise not exist. The patterns of plasma created simply reflect the intelligence of the human operator :jerry: . Once it's purpose is completed, the plasma is no more, never to return. Just as no two fires are the same, no expanse of ionized atoms can ever be repeated. The plasma is created from nothing and returns to nothing. Besides, the x-ray shielding for plasma screens is negligible compared to that required for an electron bean shot at a phosphor screen.

Took the kid only twelve hours to make such a momentous decission. I'm impressed. Takes my kid three hours to decide which shoes to buy.

And you're not old enough for a license to have those cool light thingies shoot out of your fingers. Elder status has its perks. Although, I'm somewhat irritated by that designation.

due to conservation of mass, no state of matter can be created from nothing and return to nothing. The plasma that is in plasma TVs is created, I believe, from mixtures of noble gases. It "returns to nothing" when the noble gases can no longer hold the charge from the electricity because the electrons attached to these atoms have all been exposed to the fourth state of matter (plasma) and have thus departed from the atom that it was once so closely bonded to. This sometimes causes molecular fusion, but that is in small amounts when large expanses of plasma are available. But really, plasmas are overrated. The relationship between pH and viscosity is all the rage right now. Scientifically speaking, it can be assumed that an acid actually has lower viscosity than a base. This has been proven using different types of ceiling paints, but it is only true to a degree because the isoelectric pointof titanium dioxide is on the acidic side, so the viscosity decreases until the TiO2 and clay found in ceiling paint flocculates, which makes the paint thicker than molasses.

Dude, I have Ph.D. in Plasma Physics, I could go on ad nauseum on the topic.

Edit: as counter example to your first statement --- Hawking Radiation

I hate being proven wrong, so It hurts to admit this...but you win. Do you really have a Ph.D. in plasma physics because if so, you are my new hero. Myhero used to be Nikola Tesla, then it was MArie Curie, and now its Snow Dog. I have a feeling I might be lowering my standards a little bit, but that's really cool. BTW, my latin is a little rusty (or nonexistant, considering I am only fourteen and only use latin for binomial nomenclature), what does 'ad nauseum' mean?

I think in my first statement I made the reference to 'State of matter' and radiation seems more to me like a form of radiant energy. Rock On, Snow Dog!

Ok, I spelled it wrong ad nauseam, and actually my latin is virtually non-existant beyond a few phrases.

Yes, I really do. I tend to look up to Rutherford (gotta love a guy who was insulted because he got a Nobel Prize in Chemistry not Physics) and Feynman (because he had the ability to explain things so that most everyone could understand)

Finally, learn to accept being wrong, I often am ... <_<

Edit: Don't make me into a hero, you can think I'm an ok guy, or want to learn something, or that I'm just fun to banter with; you can respect me, or hate me, but I'm just a person with my own faults and weaknesses.

I like Nikola Tesla because he saved a lot of lives by discovering and promoting Alternating current which helps prevent electrocution, and the voltage can be easily increased and decreased using transformers and substations, and I like Marie Curie because she was a brilliant woman who did wonders for the world of Chemistry and won a nobel prize yet did not even get paid for her work. She was the coolest. I like you because you are crazy and strange (but in a good way) and just a little brilliant (after all, Ph.D.s are kinda hard to get...).

-psychic psychopath

p.s. Cave canem is latin for "beware of dog" And I have a lot of problems, so many that admitting when you are wrong is like 20th on my list of problems that need fixing.

OMG Snowey. You have found a true apprentice.

Welcome Slaveboy. In time, you will earn your shooting lights. Meanwhile, just do whatever Snow Dog tells you. That could be fun.

By the way, if you ever have to go into exile, do NOT go to Dagoba. Swamps and snakes are just nasty.

Sharon, you are right. Before I joined I was the guest that talked a lot about penguins and my many psychological problems. I love penguins. and have OCD and a borderline personality disorder and am psychopathic. Deal with it.

You would be surprised how many members of this forum are very well educated on as many varied subjects as you can imagine.

thank you for "cave canem", that shall be part of my lexicon for the rest of time, I think it will go up on the gate at home tonight, in case a latin speaking power company employee stops by.

Cheeky little devil, aren't you?? Actually, anyone that can hold their own in this particular forum is okay in my book. See Snowey, even the kid knows I'm right. :D

Listen y'all, as fun as this has been, I gotta go to cross country practice. Snow Dog, you are crazy. I'll be home tonight, and I hope Myr gets back from vacation soon. All this whistling is getting a little tiring.
