Mark Arbour Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 I wrote this, thinking about how pissed off Brad, not to mention Luke and Stef, would be at having this guy show up and potentially f**k up their plans.
Hermetically Sealed Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Hmmmm. is that a good thing, or a bad thing? lol
Caedus Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Even if Robbie came there with a plan or not, he could at least help get Brad in the right state of mind to have sex with Dan. Brad seemed kinda out of it at the end of the chapter. 1

Brad seemed kinda out of it at the end of the chapter. Since you have to wait for the resolution, let me try and give you some insight into Brad's emotions. He's got about 15 irons in the fire, and juggling all of them is starting to really wear on him. He's f**king a guy he hates, and that really bothers him. His personal life is front and center, and he's a private person so that really pisses him off. He's got the business issues to worry about. And the person who normally gives him the strength and stability to handle this kind of shit (Robbie) is only marginally helpful at best, and now he shows up unannounced to f**k up all the plans Brad has worked so hard to put together (along with Stef and Luke). And then, throw in his former best friend who's turned into a total cretin. I think he's pretty much at the limits of his endurance.
gjtravel2a Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I wrote this, thinking about how pissed off Brad, not to mention Luke and Stef, would be at having this guy show up and potentially f**k up their plans. Robbie's appearance could:>Lead to quite a scene where Brad finally breaks with Robbie (but you do like happy endings you say so it would enevitably lead to some hot make-up sex between Brad/Robbie....)>>though unplanned, be used to help convince Dan they are really over, Brad is quick enough to do this and hopefully, Robbie can either catch on or leave in enough huff that he helps the plan and again, lead to great makeup sex!>>>Robbie ends up in the bathroom and Brad gets Dan to spill all within Robbie's earshot ultimately convincing Robbie that Brad is not just an alarmist/conspiracy theorist on the depth of the plot to destroy them and some penance of listening to Brad causing Robbie to realize what he almost lost.>>>>They end up in a three-way....hope not, just would be tough to believe and still see the carefully laid plan workout.>>>>>Perhaps Carson has figured things out, confronted Robbie, Robbie dispatched him a la Paris, Robbie has come to preen and begins to eye Dan with bloodlust still coursing through his veins. This is the ulltimate act that brings Robbie and Brad together! Does this mean Robbie has to off someone every 14 years?>>>>>Another creative plot twist that moves this incredibly enjoyable tale along! It will be interesting to see how soon they choose to axe the infidels. Carson must surely suspect something (unless Robbie really did off him). Brad's assistant is back on Monday I believe. Will the rest of the industry ever know that Steph/Brad really were intentially driving up the costs and loosing for strategic advantage? The deadline for the collapse of the Dot-Com Bubble is within months, will Millennium go beyond March 10th, 2000 to see Steph's true brilliance and the come-uppance of Dan, et al? The internal dog-fight will be interesting within the enemy camp once it becomes apparent the Brad and Co are not destroyed...Oy, the fun! Great dramatic tension Mark, thanks!

rjo Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Chapter 24 ended with Robbie appearing just before Dan arrives, Why is Robbie there? What reason could he have? How dumb is he? Can Brad think fast and use it to help their plans? Will Brad stage a fight with Robbie for Dan to see? I think Dan hates Robbie more than he hates Brad. Can Brad think fast and make Robbie's appearance work to further the plan? At this point only God and Mark know. Mark that puts you in pretty good company. 2

rjo Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. What is God anyway? Native Americans thought it was a life force. Like in May the force be with you. I could say more but this is not the place or the time. Soup box put away.
gjtravel2a Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. What is God anyway? Native Americans thought it was a life force. Like in May the force be with you. I could say more but this is not the place or the time. Soup box put away. What may be considered the inverse may also be true. Whether it is God, god, gods, higher power, Supreme Being, or something that may be considered more tangible, just because we believe in it, does not mean it is real. With specific reference to Millennium, Brad truly believed in his and Robbie's relationship and choose to see evidence of its near eternal nature, and look where it has gotten him. Many people similarly see a surpreme being's hand in virtually any aspect of daily existence; hence, we get the prayer of thanks for the football touchdown. One of the things I admire in Brad's character is his ability to keep forging ahead, growing, and seeking love without the external crux and with just sheer determination and also without a sense of desperation. 1
rjo Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 (edited) The way I see Brad is a person with flaws but because or inspite of those flaws he has over come. I can relate to Brad I was an adopted child and very shy as a kid. Just like Brad I have worked hard to over come that shyness. I did not have Brad's torchured childhood but like Brad I was placed in a loving home. Like Brad my temper can be great however I don't destroy cars. Above all Brad is one of the people you would like as your friend. That is what makes him so endearing. Under all the problems and difficulties is a truly good, kind, and loving person. Oh and even at 37 is still as hot as heck. Or as Matt said a walking wet dream. When Brad is at his best he is really good whether it is in the boardroom and in the bedroom. JLK9N Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 This was a terrific chapter. I could actually visualize Brad squatting on top of the commode, holding his breath, doing all he could to make no sound. A very well written, rich cat-and-mouse scenario that enhanced this story even more. I am also very interested in where this is going, and since I'm a - what was the phrase: Robbie-nista? - I'm hoping that while there's no way he can know what's going down, he'll roll with the flow and help Brad out to put more nails in the coffin, so to speak. Even though I find Brad annoying at times, I still very much want he and Robbie together for the long haul. The other day I went back and re-read parts of the story when Brad and Robbie broke up during college and then reunited. There are some interesting similarities, and the most important one to me is that Robbie was always honest with Brad. He has never hidden anything from Brad, at least never left anything unsaid for any length of time, which is a sign of a good and true partner. It WAS interesting to see how sympathetic Stef was about Robbie back in the day, compared to now when he's dismissed Robbie with a snap.

I think there were two times when Robbie wasn't honest, and let Brad down. The first was when he was dating Brad and Neil and wouldn't tell Brad that Neil was fisting him. He could have made things a whole lot easier on both of them if he'd have come clean. The second time was after he killed Neil but didn't tell Brad, letting him spin in the wind, thinking he did it. Based on what they've been through, I think those are excusable transgressions. The one I'd have a lot harder time forgiving, if I were Brad, is Robbie's relationship with Carson. That was a lot more advanced than Robbie led Brad to believe when he asked them to open up their relationship.

And I guess this is to prepare me for Robbie's fall. Ah well, I still love him.

gjtravel2a Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I will admit, that even knowing that a cliffie was coming, it wasn't the one I had anticipated, thanks for the turn! Now, with more reason to look forward to Wednesday! gj I really detest it when authors are hurried by thier readers for what you provide is a gift and one such as yourself is really quite generous, but in the case of this 'cliffie' and waiting till Wednesday, I, with respectful timerity, thought I might point out that it is actually Wednesday in Singapore. Are you restricted to just good old US of A timing?
Hermetically Sealed Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 So glad to see that they both are thinking above the belt. lol It was nice to actually see the two having a deep discussion and seeming to be in a better spot for it, even if they don't wind up sticking together.
gjtravel2a Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) Mark, thank you for being patient with the demands of your fans and getting this to us today (or is it tomorrow in Singpore? ) It is a most enjoyable event. As promised earlier, I shall be finishing the pointy hat and sit in the corner for Robbie did pull it together and moved his life and the possibilities forward. This was a powerful and infinitely believable chapter that moved the story itself forward quite nicely. It was like the streams of their personal events and emotions began to again flow together into the river of the story-line. If the story takes them to the point where they end up together, it won't, in my opinion have any of the 'Dallas - waking up in the shower scene feel', but it instead will feel to me to be authentic occurance (though the dice are still not cast!). Again, kudos to the skill and the time you take in developing these likable (ok, I still find Robbie annoying, sorry Robbietarians...) but it is more obvious why Brad fell for him and is willing to at least entertain recommitting. In some ways, the scene with all the events and the impact of their honest conversation is more of a 'cliffie' than before, but it is a good place for the story to be. A plateau before the fireworks really begin and events unfold in earnest. Thanks again Mark. gj Edited August 31, 2010 by gjtravel2a

I even scrapped 29 and 30 and re-wrote them.
rjo Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 As I said before, Mark you are only getting better and better!! Chapter 25 is great!! I could close my eyes and see Robbie and Brad fight and reason together. I am so glad Robbie is better than ever. Maybe after all this their relationship will be stronger than ever. I like the new Brad but I even like the new Robbie better.
Mark Arbour Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 I'm glad you liked it. Just relax and enjoy the story. I'm sure there's no other shoe to drop or anything like that.
centexhairysub Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 The scene between Brad and Robbie was pitch perfect... No matter what happens to them in the end, you know that they will find a way to stay friends. I do hope that they find a way to work it out and stay together but will remain a fan no matter which way it goes. I think that Robbie showing up and the fact that Brad understands Robbie so well, that they were so easily able to go into fake fight mode in front of Dan really actually helped Brad make his case with Dan. Dan definitely hated Robbie more in the past than he did Brad, he blamed Robbie for keeping him and Brad apart. I wonder if on Friday night, Brad and Robbie shouldn't show up and be all lovey dovey and maybe even invite Max and Cody, wouldn't that just chap Lark's ass, to see Max happy... I hope we get the business issues resolved soon, at least most of them, I think it will take a while for everything to come out on the backside. I want to get back to Brad/Robbie and see what ideas JP has for Claremont. Keep up the great work Mark, I hope you know how much we all appreciate this small slice of heaven you are bringing to out lives... And if you don't like the heaven refrence, just substitute orgy of delight...

JLK9N Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I want to add my kudos for this chapter as well. It 'rang true' for a couple who has been together long enough to really 'get' each other at deeper levels. As a writer, one of the hardest things to do is to give your characters a true voice- making what they say "sound' genuine and real- for that character. That really came through loud and clear in this chapter. Regardless of the debates over who's right and wrong and who screwed over whom and who should be together or not, this style of writing is what sets apart the 'great' from the unwashed masses. Mr. Arbour, you are very very clean. Congratulations and I hope your muse remains strong as you solider on with this very riveting tale.
methodwriter85 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I'll try to stay strong, dude. Anyways, I loved the Harry Potter reference.
