methodwriter85 Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) Chapter 69 -When Will and Zach talk on the roof, then make love. "Sleep" by The Dandy Warhols -When Brad appreciates the hustle and bustle of New York City, and bumps into Chris Mendoza's mother. "La Negra Tiene Tumbao" by Celia Cruz -When they see Unrinetown. "Run Freedom Run" from Urinetown Urinetown. God, I haven't heard references to that musical in a loooonnnngggg time. It seems largely forgotten. Then again, it's not exactly the kind of musical that gets played in high schools and kept alive that way for new generations. And from what I understand, Broadway musicals in general have gotten less risky in taking things that aren't "feel-good" or uplifting, hence why they have so many revivals or adaptions of hit/cult movies. I can't wait til it's 2006 and they can see Spring Awakening. Holy shit, that must have been a religious experience. If the regional tour was mind-blowing, I can't imagine what the original Broadway experience was like. And Will can fuck Jonathan Groff. (Or JJ. I could actually see JJ with a Jonathan Groft-type of a preppy WASP perfomer.) Edited January 26, 2014 by methodwriter85 1

And how great to have a snippet from Urinetown!

methodwriter85 Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Chapter 75 -When Wade and Matt officially break up. "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House You remember this tune when it came out, Mark? It was a big tune the summer you were in your mid-20's. According to the commentary for Adventureland, it was released in the fall of 1986, languished for awhile, and then suddenly hit big the following summer of '87. It was apparently perfect make-out music. 1

methodwriter85 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) Chapter 76 -When Will and Zach work out the beard deal, and Zach tells him that he's moving to California in 2002. "Follow Me" by Uncle Kracker I absolutely and completely hate this song, and I still get hives listening to it, but I can't deny that it fits. My at the time 6 year old niece LOVED this tune. Ugh. -When everybody's in celebratory mode for the Ironmen, and Gathan congratulates Zach on a game well done. "Family Affair" by Mary J. Blige Edited February 18, 2014 by methodwriter85 1

Blige I liked the Uncle Kracker song: it was something different.
methodwriter85 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 In my case, I was so sick of hearing it back then.
methodwriter85 Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Chapter 78 -When we close out 9.11. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel I'm picking this one because I have very strong memories of it being performed at a 9.11 benefit concert that my school did, probably around early '02. 1
