First part: A four-lined Khayyám-style Rubaiyat:

The promise you made that night with your word,

your body, became music in my blood,

and let me form lines of songs yet unheard

to  open the cage and free my black bird.

The image of 'your word, your body, became music in my blood' is so strikingly beautiful…amazingly beautiful, in fact.

This is a great poem

Nice Ruba'i Adi. 'An unheard song' was so amazing, as well as the line Ben said is great too...

Nice poem... :)

I agree with AC that this image in the first two lines - the promise made with word and body becoming music in the blood - that just set my own heart racing. I want to hear more of this music, hear the songs you did. This is great.

Thank you, Parker!  We were supposed to write about our muse. He's a fickle one, but I love him nevertheless. ;)

Before I try my hand at a lullaby, I give to you the promised more by-the-rule rubaiyat:

His word does not taste of sun-warmed earth,

licked off my body in playful mirth.

Tonight it is dark and reeks of death.

With my song I strive to prove its worth.

There will also be a multi-stanza Interlocking Rubaiyat eventually, but not based on the film An Occurrence at Owl Bridge. I don't think I can connect in a good way, I'm sorry.
