@BHopper2 do you get a holiday break like the students on campus, or does your next course roll in as soon as this one is done?

Yes, we get Winter Break off as well. Week 4 ends on Monday, December 24, 2018, as normal. Break for us starts on December 25, 2018, and going January 7, 2019. Week 5 starts back up on January 8, 2019, for a normal class week. During the break, we can work on our week 5 assignments if we wish to, but discussions and attendance won't count until after the break.

Morning everyone.

Mom gets a visit later this morning, and perhaps some grocery shopping. Then Week 3 starts today.

Plans changed. My uncle had to take off on an emergency. He dropped off my mom's stuff first.

I could have stayed in that warm bed for another hour.

Week 3 - light work this week. 1 chapter, 4 videos, and 3 reserved readings. One assessment on Socratic Questions. Whatever those are. I'll find out this week.

@BHopper2

Socratic questions, the Socratic method is a way of teaching/learning that involves discussion & debate to develop critical thinking, thinking for yourself, rather than lectures where a teacher tells you what you should think/know

😀 hope that helps & i didn't muddy the waters any

Good morning all.

@MacGreg what are you going to do with the spare time now that the studying is finished? And should we plan a graduation party?

I'm throwing a party this weekend - graduation, birthday, Christmas, Hanukkah, and whatever else. Drop on in.

Good morning DICers! This past weekend, the forecast called for sunny skies this week, but so far it’s been cloudy and gloomy. I think the sun went on vacation?

At any rate, have a good day... :)

Thanks, miss molly. That does help.

Drink plans didn’t pan out. My buddy had forgotten that he was going to see his daughter’s school play, which obviously takes precedence. We’re doing it next week instead. Also, I’m making a new friend! Dude from my class who’s going on leave like I did last year. This is the guy I just randomly started telling about my gender identity and how transitioning works and stuff when we were in the studio. The fact that he still wants to be my friend after I basically TMI’d all over him the third time we talked to each other says something about what a chill bro he is. We’re going for coffee on Thursday. So, in spite of continued ill health, this is a good day.

Better late than never ....

immure Audio pronunciation

verb | ih-MYOOR

Definition

1
:
to enclose within or as if within walls

:
:
to build into a wall; especially : to entomb in a wall

Like mural, immure comes from murus, a Latin noun that means "wall." Immurare, a Medieval Latin verb, was formed from murus and the prefix in- (meaning "in" or "within"). Immure, which first appeared in English in the late 16th century, literally means "to wall in" or "to enclose with a wall," but it has extended meanings as well. In addition to senses meaning "to imprison" and "to entomb," the word sometimes has broader applications, essentially meaning "to shut in" or "to confine." One might remark, for example, that a very studious acquaintance spends most of her time "immured in the library" or that a withdrawn teenager "immures himself in his bedroom every night."

In Norwegian, 'mure' (pronounced moo-reh) is a verb that means to lay bricks or masonry. 'Mur' is a noun that means a wall made of stone, brick, masonry or concrete. 'Murstein' means brick (transliterated 'wall stone').

Sleep makes all the difference, it really does. Keep doing that sleeping thing.

Natural Calm is a great supplement. It helps me a lot.

Spoiler

Though I could do without the vivid wet dreams. Stopped having them with I was 21... now it's almost every night. LOL. As side effects go for interaction with psych meds, this is pretty enjoyable.

So, my ex whom I broke up with ten years ago has been hitting me up on messenger a lot lately. Turns out his wife left him. Starting to wonder if I should be concerned... I mean, he's a nice guy and all (he was always a better friend than he was a boyfriend), but still, feels a little bit weird when the first thing your ex does after breaking up with his wife (whom he started seeing like two weeks after we broke up, btw) is to start texting you almost every day.

I would say that is a flag on the play. Be civil but cautious.

He lives in a completely different part of the country, thankfully, and since they have two kids together it seems unlikely that he'd move up here again, so I don't think I'm in any real danger (if that's the word; even if he does express an interest it's not like I'd return it). But yeah, trying to be cautious.

I bet it feels weird.  Were it I, my self-preservation warning system would be screaming, "Run! Run! Run!".  However, as the least likely person here to start an "Ann Landers" column (how outdated is that?), I would only observe that your parenthetical comment is likely your own advice to yourself.
