Okay... here's my lame-ass attempt at one.

No snow on the ground,
winter is never that cold.
The sand I walk on
warmed by the sun, shifts away
dreams of winter wonderlands.

I love that. Think it’s a pretty good first attempt. :)

Because I can't post it in the Poetry Club... Is there a Tanka Syllable Counter out there somewhere?

No promises but I may try my hand at it.

Do it.  WolfM gave me this link, but also the warning that it is inaccurate.  It seemed to think that "tracked" was two syllables, which is not so.  I suggest counting yourself, per MacGreg's provided count.   https://syllablecounter.net/count

I just did one between reading sections in the textbook.

Thanks, Mac. It partly does. I should have written down the syllable count, but forgot to like a dumbass.

Thanks, Bro. That helped.

I think it is excellent. :)  I particularly like how the "sand shifts away dreams...", an excellent metaphor.

Post it on live poets...let AC see it. Don't worry he is a gentle teacher....

I'll try again to post in Live Poets. When I went earlier it didn't even give me the option to. It might be because I'm not a member of the club.

Yes. I had to be a member of the club to post there.

Friends.jpg

This is so true. Some of the truest friends I have I can go weeks without speaking to, even months, but when we see each other again it’s like it was only yesterday, and we’re always there for each other when we need it.

I'm out for the rest of the night. About to go find a six-pack somewhere.

Left early..bad weather...

The weather here way out west, on the other hand, is unusually balmy.  With the current temperature (mid-day) at 56 F, and similar temps in the forecast through the weekend, it's more like March than January.  I'm going to take advantage of it this weekend and do some fence repairs.  The several days of wind last week were not kind to me. :(

We're 79 F today. Tomorrow we'll be lucky to reach 59 F, as another cold front moves through. It's supposed to dump a crapload of water on us tonight too.

Hey, everybody. Wow, haven't been by GA at all today... Gamed a bit this morning, went out for a coffee with my ex that turned into a drink, and now we've eaten dinner.

Since we're sharing weather: It's hovering around 0C at the moment, but it's really humid so the air hurts your face anyway.

your boyfriend just moved in and you had a drink and dinner with an ex? How does that work?
