Yellow wildflowers are beginning to bloom in the woods... soon there will be thousands... :) 

 

They are called 'trout lilies' because of the speckled leaves, and are becoming rare because of loss of habitat, but they are abundant in my woods. :)

So dinner tonight is gonna be Maryland-style crab cakes, oven roasted asparagus and steamed new potatoes.

1 lb lump crabmeat, dried chives, dried parsley, dried shallots, lime sea salt, white pepper and just enough mayo to hold everything together = 4, 4 oz crab cakes.

Went for a drive in Mickey's car after dinner. The Trilliums are, in fact, blooming, but this is the first I've seen them this season.   :yes:

They start blooming up here before the trout lilies, usually in April. I've seen a few, but they are even more rare... it's illegal to pick them. It is Ontario's official flower and emblem.

Yeah, I hadn't seen them yet this season, because they usually grow in forested areas. But, the forest floor is carpeted with them. Michigan has eight species, though only four are protected by conservation status.
