Silven Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I am stuck in a bit of a rut right now. I have been writing my poetry on three topics for so long, I think I have forgotten how to write about other things. I really would appreciate a good challange as to a type/style/topic for a few poems. Any help would be appreciated. Please be as creative as possible, I am open to any and all suggestions. Silven
Dezlboi Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I haven't read any of your poetry (yet), but usually when people ask me questions like this, I suggest something pretty far out of their comfort zone so they're rather turned on their ear. How about a series of poems in tetrameter, no more than sixteen couplets, praising an inanimate object - but you can't use any of the normal adjectives that would be innately associated with that object. For example, "red" for a firetruck, "cold" for a dog's nose, or "vieny" for a penis. That should force some interesting metaphors. Hey, you asked... -Dez
Silven Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 Sounds good to me, I will give it a try! BTW, a penis is not an inanimate object! Silven

(I did this one for Barmaid's Sonata) Idea 4: Biographical Poem: line 1: Your First Name line 2: Four nouns or adjectives that describe you line 3: Who lives in _______________________________ line 4: A lover of
