    Prologue

This is absolutely one of my favorite series. Now, once again I get to look forward to new chapters, and re-read from the beginning to sate my cravings in the meantime!
  2. I'm nearing the end of a re-read, but just found a small error in chapter 60. The line, ". . . begin transferring the treasure over to Bacchante." should say "Santa Clarita"
  3. I'm usually a fan of Will's, but frankly I was hoping he'd step out of the limo with a busted lip or a black eye. He needs to be taken down a peg or fifty. Not that I'm actually advocating violence, but he was just such an obnoxious little shit.
  4. Mark, if you weren't already aware, Valiant doesn't appear to be categorized as a Bridgemont novel
  5. Mark, have you been taking lessons from CJames on how to drag out the climax of a story?
  6. I like the story so far, but your use of "thru" hits me like a brick wall every time I read it, especially when you used it in place of "threw".
  7. It's also worth noting that Ned is a bit of a pack-rat. So while he claims to have thrown them away, they could actually be somewhere on the lot....or on another boat as "new" components.
  8. I figured that the hiding place was in the bows that Ned replaced on Ares and trashed the originals. He wouldn't think to look there and it would explain why nothing was found during the renovations.
  9. I almost can't believe I'm writing this, because I love the story...but please tell me that it's going to start picking up speed and/or start wrapping up soon. The last few chapters have seemed like a lot of fluff work to progress the story.
  10. I haven't really followed this story but I have to wonder how culpable Paterno really is. From what I understand, the only knowledge he had was what the grad-student reported seeing. Therefore anything that he followed up on would be based on hearsay and he wouldn't be able to provide any more information than what he gave. He reported it to the school authorities, as per procedure, and at that point he should be alleviated of any further responsibility. My understanding is he had no first-hand knowledge. The whole situation is atrocious of course, but does Paterno really deserve to be a scapegoat?
  11. Why does NASCAR tolerate wrecks?
  12. Have you tried something like OpenOffice.org? It's free software that is very compatible with Microsoft applications.
  13. I don't know if I'll make it, I saw a whole 4 snow flakes today...at first I thought it was some nuclear mutated hail...till my Coloradoan boss informed me otherwise.
  14. A baker's decade does. And at least for the time being I tend to consider 2000 to be the beginning and 2010 to be the conclusion of this "decade" although I'm sure as we get further into the '10s my view will correct itself.
  15. Amazon appears to have it for rent, $3.99 http://www.amazon.co...91499563&sr=1-1
  16. it's just so wrong....being attracted....to women!!
  17. I meant to include myself in the younger generations
  18. I'm curious to know how many of the younger generations here actually know what the phrase "jumping the shark" means, or it's origin
  19. I remember hearing of stories of 12-13 year old girls getting pregnant because they were having sex before they had entered puberty and just kept on going.
  20. I see it as the opposite. To hate means you're separating yourself from anything that can potentially hurt you. I think we're all familiar with stories about the gay boy that pushes everyone close to him away so that it won't hurt when they reject him. While that's not exactly the same as hate, it's him trying to lessen his love for those people that could hurt him the most.
  21. After working on the retail side of a cell company I will probably always have at least a basic land line ($15 or so). I had way too many customers come in with a situation that would leave them without their cell for a few days and they had no other way to communicate. Currently I'm still living with my parents. Their house is in a shallow valley that doesn't get good service from anyone, therefore our landline is much better for actually talking.
  22. In stories i usually stop reading if it is completely unrealistic, and relatively so in a sci-fi story. if it has poor grammar and structure so that it is impossible to follow the train of thought. If there are eight year olds talking with better vocabulary and more wisdom than an 80 yo English professor from Oxford. I've become pretty picky in the stories i read. Even going back to some that I used to think were awesome, I can hardly get through them anymore.
  23. I would say it is because it is much easier to hate. You don't make yourself vulnerable by hating. Plus it doesn't make as good of a story.
  24. Tenor Tuner chapter 1 I just started reading this story so I don't know this for sure yet. But so far it seems like it is going to be a story of substance even though about half the first chapter was about sex. However, I didn't find the sex scene gratuitously done, I thought it was a tasteful way of implementing something that will probably be a basis of this story. My idea of a good sex scene in a good story is one that is well written and I can read through without necessarily getting hard.
  25. Semantics, I know, but Harry did use AK in book five while fighting Bellatrix but he didn't have the conviction to make it effective. edit:wrong book
