    Chapter 4

I didn't want the main part of the story to be all about their miscommunication. They are adults, after all. I'm so glad you're liking the story, and thanks so much for the reviews--they're better than likes anyway.

    Chapter 3

Sometimes it's hard to go from what you think/expect will happen to what is really the truth. Especially for men, who I don't think are set to 'default mode' of "Let's talk about how we REALLY feel." like women. LOL

    Chapter 2

LOL! I'm horrible with names, so I try not to worry about it when readers don't always get them right. As long as you remember MY name correctly, we're all good.

    Chapter 1

There definitely is! I couldn't imagine going out of country to meet people, but having met 2 authors I've chatted with for a long time, online, it was a great experience for me. I'm sure it's not always that way, and dating is a whole other issue, but this was part of a way to explore that dynamic.

    Chewing gum

Anytime when you should remain professional in appearance and/or be able to speak clearly. If people are that worried about their breath they should pop a mint instead. And yeah... if you're chomping gum open-mouthed in my presence I'm going to ask you if you think you're a cow chewing its cud. *gross*
  6. GA is a complex site, simply because there is SO MUCH information here. You'll find millions upon millions of words of stories (for research purposes, of course, lol) as well as many topics to help refine your writing in the forums Graeme suggested. Please remember, if you post as an author, to read our faq found through the help tab, "New Author Help: How to Post a Story". It not only explains our posting procedure, but the content and posting guidelines regarding what you can post, how often, as well as answering common questions and mistakes authors make with our custom Stories software. My PM box is always open, if you have site, posting, or writing questions, too.

    Chapter 24

Not a predictable course for the story to go, I hope! But where Yuisi is, if he's alive, why his mate thinks Yuri is Yuisi, how he got away, who's helping him--if someone is... all those questions are still left to answer! Add in Benny and Yuri's attempts to bond again and Yuri's injury and recovery... still the best parts to come, at least in my mind.

    Chapter 24

He could’ve been a kitten. Splayed on his back, naked, his stripes glowing faintly in the neon light from the bar sign, Yuri reached up and batted at Benny’s hand. “Keep rubbing.” Benny stared down at his mate. “You have a brother?” There’d been no brother when their Clans had merged. “Uh huh.” Yuri frowned. “Keep rubbing.” Belatedly, Benny started tracing his fingers across Yuri’s forehead, lightly scratching his scalp, and then beginning again. Maybe Yuri’s headache had to do with this new
  10. That doesn't sound like anything I've seen on GA. Mpreg really doesn't exist here. I'm guessing you read this off-site, but someone might still be able to help you. Try google searching for mpreg sites or this is a good Mpreg goodreads shelf. It's primarily eBooks, but there are some free stories listed on there too. You might find what you're looking for there.
  11. Enjoy your time on GA!!
  12. Yay! Lots of folks who like CJ's work already to comment on the 30th. Maybe we can encourage CJ back into posting, lol.
  13. June is the month our summer anthology comes out, and that's always a great event for our authors, new and experienced. I like to feature the anthologies from time to time, but this month I thought we'd take a peek at a single long-time member's various takes on the themes through the years. C James is the well-known, and popular, author of Circumnavigation--the longest story on GA. So how about taking a peek at some of his shortest, if you're not up to tackling his 1.1 million word epic? 14. As you can see, GA is very welcoming. Enjoy your time on the site, be it to read, write, or be around like-minded folks.
  15. I liked the movie and watched a season or so of the original. With so much out there, why do they keep making remakes of everything lately? Stretch, expand, be creative and new with sci-fi! *sighs* All too often, it's just bland and banal continuations of things seen before. I won't hold out hope that a new Stargate, tbh.

    taking a break

Bipolar disorder is a difficult disease to manage, but I'm glad you have a support system and plans in place to do so. I have come to realize fans are generally incredibly supportive when things happen in real life that derail our time as authors. Come back when it's right for you--we'll still be here.

    Chapter 23

I think Yuri feels coddled, and not in a good way, and yet pressured to talk about things he doesn't really want to talk about. His relationship with Benny is good, but they need to really understand what each other needs--which they don't right now. I agree, though, the right touching is important.

    Chapter 23

There's a lot between them going unsaid. Benny definitely needs to step up and Yuri... well, he's going through a lot internally. Communication is key!

    Chapter 1

A sweet little existential piece! I liked the concepts and the imagery you produced with your angels' purpose in life, so to speak. Your dialogue punctuation is rough, though. We have a good topic in the Writer's Corner pinned at the head of the forum with a lot of information that's easy to understand It's what helped me finally get punctuation rules.

    Chapter 23

Yuri jerked up in bed, suppressing a hiss. His head throbbed, and flashes from his nightmare kept coming at him. Good thing Benny was sleeping on his stomach facing away. He mighta woken his mate up, and then Benny would make him talk about stuff. He was tired of talking. A drink. That's what he wanted. Yuri cautiously climbed off the bed. The lights from outside the bar shone in the window and lit up the room so he wouldn't bonk into anything. He slinked through the piles of clothes thrown al
  21. I'm sure you've been given some great starts for reading, though depression isn't a theme I look for specifically so I can't help with any story ideas. I can, however, link you to our Reader Help faq in the help menu that specifically addresses navigating Stories as a reader--including explaining all the filtering options so you can find the exact type of story you wish to read. One of the main reasons we had the system programmed for us was to include that organization--which might seem intimidating at first--but really allows for readers to pinpoint specific content by author, category, genre, tag, as well as length, rating, and level of posting (in process/complete) or any combination of those factors as well. Please find the Reader Help faq here, or through the help button in the red menu bar. Members are always welcome to PM me if they have any questions regarding GA. I've been here a fair bit and can usually guide people in the right direction.
  22. Wow, summer's almost here! This month in the CSR we're discussing Thorn's Jacob & Marcus Tales. Here's some info on those, if you haven't read them yet. They're short, though, so why don't you give one a shot and then come back and talk with Thorn at 11 PM, GST +1 (3 PM, Pacific and 12 PM, Eastern) Jacob and Marcus Tales series by Thorn Wilde Description: Marcus is the maladjusted, borderline sadistic and really quite brilliant editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper, and Jacob wants him. The only problem is that Jacob is just about as maladjusted and out of touch as the object of his desire. Contains gratuitous swearing and a bit of a masochist kink. Stories: Soft Hard Weak Strong Firsts *prequel* Then Things Happened Sex, Booze & Consequences What Meg Said In the meantime, please enjoy this interview with Thorn! If you can't make the chat times, go ahead and leave your comments and questions about the story, or Thorn's writing in general in the comments now. What's the first story you remember writing? The first story I wrote was a picture book about a baby seal whose mother was eaten by polar bears, and who was adopted by a human girl who was on holiday in Svalbard with her parents. I drew all the pictures, and dictated the words to a grown-up who wrote them in for me. I must have been about four or maybe five. I knew all my letters, so the first page or so is written in my own hand (with the E's having way too many lines on them), but I couldn't spell. I still have the 'book', or I probably wouldn't remember any of this nearly so well. Do you have a favorite aspect of writing that really speaks to you? I love writing dialogue. I'll spend a lot of time choosing the right words for my characters, speaking them out loud so I can hear what they sound like (doing accents and voices to the best of my abilities), and perfecting their personalities through the way they speak. Sometimes I'll write a scene without any description at all the first time around, just the dialogue, and then I'll fill in the narrative with description, action and speech tags. In everything else, as well, it's the words. I have a real passion for language, so the words are really important to me. When you write, do you have any rituals? Like specific time of day, you need such and such music playing, or you wear a pair of motivating socks? Not really. I can write pretty much anywhere at any time, when I'm inspired to. The only thing is the medium. When I write fiction, I need my laptop. Nothing else will do. Thankfully, it's light and handy, so I can take it with me and write anywhere around the house, or outside, in a café, wherever I want. I like a change of scenery. When I really want to get to writing with no distractions, I walk to the Oslo University Library, where there's a small coffee shop, and I sit there in a window seat, watch people walking by, and write. Their wi-fi is for students only, so I don't have access. Is there a specific author who really inspired you to want to write? I've always wanted to write, so I don't really know. I've always told stories, to other people or just to myself. There are a lot of authors who inspire me now, but I don't think I can say that any of them made me want to write in the first place, because that's always been a part of my personality. What brought you to GA? A fan recommended it to me. I had been posting Nemesis on Archive Of Our Own, and one of my readers mentioned a story on GA in a comment. I clicked the link, had a look around, and signed up that same day. Did you plan to write a series of short stories when you started writing The Jacob & Marcus Tales? Not at all. I really only meant to write the one story, but then the characters took over my brain and things happened. Every time I thought I'd found an ending, another chapter of their lives started poking at me and I had to write that too. Do you have a favorite story out of the eight you've written so far? That's a really tough call... Out of all that I've ever written, these stories are what I uniformly like the most. But I guess Jacob's Firsts story might be my favourite. I loved going back and looking at his childhood, and it has some funny moments, too, at the same time as it's really quite cynical and sad in its own way. Other than that, What Meg Said is so different from the others, so that stands out as well. It was fun writing from a female character's point of view, as it's not something I've been doing a lot of late. Are you going to continue with more Jacob & Marcus Tales in the future? I think the answer to that is a very definite maybe. I've already given them their happy ending, or at least as happy an ending as they are likely to get, but there may still be some untold stories in between the scenes of What Meg Said. We'll see. What's up next? Feel free to share with us any plans you have about any upcoming stories you're working on. Tease us, it's okay! Well, first I'm going to finish Lavender & Gold and Nemesis: Soulmates Never Die. It's high time. After that I have few ideas, some of which I've started writing a little bit. One is a detective story set in Manchester, with a gay detective named Templeton who has to solve some scary murders. I've never written this kind of story before, so it's really exciting, but I also have a lot of research to do (as well as a trip to Manchester) before it'll be anywhere near publishable. It might be a project for next year's NaNoWriMo. Another project I've started is a sort of pastiche of Pride & Prejudice from Mr. Darcy's point of view, with some really rather interesting dynamics between him and Mr. Bingley, among other things. This will probably post before the Templeton story. I've written a couple of chapters so far and it's a lot of fun trying to mimic the language of the period in the dialogue. Like the original, it'll be composed of a shedload of short chapters. I also have a third volume of Nemesis on the horizon, but once I've finished Soulmates I think I'm going to need a bit of a break from that world, so it might take a while. Other than that you never know when a short story is going to pop into my head. Before any of this can happen, though, I need to learn to handle my depression. It's no secret that I've been ill for a while now. I'm on medication and due to start therapy soon, so hopefully I'll have the energy to get properly back in the game within too long. Okay everyone! Don't forget to come back during the chat, if you can make it!
  23. It's Complicated by L.A. Witt My rating: 3 of 5 stars Okay, so I had the hardest time rating this eBook. I thought 2.5 stars for the plot. It's annoying--basically. Passive aggressive relationship stories drive me bonkers. I thought we'd see more of them working through their problems, not have new ones dumped on top that ramped up the angst factor to "Seriously?" factors for me. Which this did. I don't want to spoil the story... but read the story blurb and it's pretty much already done for me. The marketing basically gives you the ENTIRE plot. The only thing you don't get to see is the ending. For me, that makes it even more annoying because it feels like every surprise we're suppose to learn along with the characters is info bombed before we even get there. It lessens the impact of the emotional climaxes along the plot arc, which divorced me from the characters in a BIG way. Oh, we love each and want to make it work so we're starting over--Boom! Already know that. Great sex still works--Boom! Already know that. Ex that still works with main character gets pregnant--Boom! Already know that. Ex wants to bail from the business and the city, omg, what will he do--Boom! Already know that. The only things we don't get to see beforehand are the way Brad's job contributes to the resolution (though it was obvious as soon as I figured out what he did) and the actual decisions made at the end on how to make things work. Which again, isn't any big thing--it becomes pretty much obvious. This eBook went up to 3 stars because I did feel L.A. Witt's basic writing ability to craft sentences and flow is good. I also got a tad teary eyed during the climax emotional scene before the resolution and ending. Pulling me into the story to feel even that much for the characters when I felt divorced from the plot because I already knew it took some skill. Overall, though this type of plot isn't my favorite, I'd have enjoyed it--if it didn't feel like I'd already read the CliffsNotes version. View all my reviews

Yay! I'm so glad you loved it. I agree, both men have suffered enough! *coughs* I'm not exactly kind to my characters, though. So there's no telling what might still be in store. As for the dominance thing... well, that's a bit fluid. More of that will come up too. Thanks for the review!
