I never use to sleep at night until recently, I still get insomnia occasionally but not so much since I started exercising harder as well as working all day. Here are some things that sometimes help me to fall asleep: Reading a book with a really dim light. Keep your bedroom at a cooler temperature. Having a warm shower or bath a few hours being you want to sleep. A relaxing pillow spray - lavenders good A warm drink and a small snack before you go to bed (strong chamomile tea works great) Don't eat or drink anything with caffeine after midday (including chocolate) Don't nap during the day. Go to the toilet before starting your bedroom routine (seriously nothing is worse then being nice and cozy and about to fall asleep and then having to get up to go to the loo and then not being able to get back to sleep). Turn all electronic stuff off in your room, get rid of any clocks with an illuminated face or numbers. Having a small fan run next to my bed, making some background noise (and cutting out traffic and other noise outside my room), keeps me cool and circulates the air in my somewhat stuffy room, makes me sleep, I can't sleep without it running now. Listen to some soft, slow mellow music and do some breathing exercises. Wake up at the same time every single day, even on weekends or if you haven't had much sleep the night before don't try to 'catch up with sleep' by sleeping in all day. Try and go to bed the same time every night, if you can't sleep after 15mins, get up and do something quiet for 15mins before trying again. Try not to stress out about falling asleep or whatever time you have to wake up in the morning, it'll probably keep you awake all night. Take a pseudoephedrine or another drowsy antihistamine or cold tablet. Over the counter sleeping tablets will probably knock you out, but they generally make you feel drowsy and lethargic the next day. If you've got racing thoughts, get up out of bed, sit down somewhere quiet and with dim lighting and write down everything that your thinking. Don't exercise after 6/7pm, exercising too close to bed time will keep you awake. If you can, do your exercises when you wake up or around lunch time. If all else fails (or if its getting close to your wake up time) get up out of bed and start your day a bit earlier. You'll probably fall asleep easier the next night. If you still can't sleep more then a few hours a night for over a few months and your sleeplessness is making getting through your day difficult, then try and get an appointment with a respiratory specialist or a sleep specialist. You might have sleep apnoea or another disorder that could be stopping you from falling/staying asleep and sleeping tablets only mask the problem not solve it.

To Fanfiction or not Fanfiction: That is the question
Bumblebee replied to Lily Velden's topic in The Lounge
I don't write stories but I love reading fanfiction, mostly because I like reading about my favourite characters having sex. Besides that I like reading it because it expands the character from canon, some authors are quite particular about how they see the character and either elaborate what's in canon or take them on a completely different journey, and I just think its great that there can be so many different versions of a character and most of the time you can still say 'oh well that seems like something the canon would do' I think that to make a fan fic decent, you need to find the balance with the characters, otherwise anything goes. I'll only read fan fiction about a fandom that I'm in, with characters I enjoy on the screen. And I think that if the author enjoys it, and the readers keep reading it, there's some pretty shit stories and some absolutely fantastic stories that I prefer over 'original' stories but fan fiction will always be around and the authors should be taken seriously because they put in just as much time and effort to write their stories as other non fan fic authors. -
Welcome back Trebs, its great to know that you're fighting and are getting healthier by the day

I'm just going to answer your question about CBT, my experience with this type of therapy was pretty shit. The shrink pushed me too far and I decided that it would be best for me to stop therapy. But I never really shared my issues with her, I was trying to help curb some of my obsessive compulsive issues and the subsequent panic attacks, so I didn't think that sharing anything besides that would matter. Research has shown that in a majority of people cognitive behaviour therapy does work in changing your thinking (among other things) but only if you're a willing participant. Your supervisor sounds like a dick, I'd talk to someone above him, maybe whoever runs that part of the university or whatever and file a complaint. Hope things go well for you Maximoff

Massive oil reserves discovered in South Australia
Bumblebee replied to JamesSavik's topic in The Lounge
South Australia was just jealous of Western Australia being the rich state Hopefully this means fuel prices will go down in Australia. -
Also can't edit it cause my stupid iPhone won't let me, but sorry there's no spaces in my post above, GA won't post my paragraph spaces when I type in the forums.

I really don't like that I'm putting my feelings out there but I'm going to blame my insomnia for this post. I feel so stupid that I'm still grieving over Karl, it's been over a month but I still feel like maybe he will wake up and everything will be ok then, but its never going to happen, hell he's cremated so he won't even take part in a zombie apocalypse. We talked almost everyday but we never met so to me it feels like I shouldn't still be feeling this way, that I should have moved on by now. He was my only friend, and I hate him so much for going and dying on me the bastard. I don't think I've cried so much in my life, and everywhere that I've read says that crying is meant to help for some reason, but all it does it make me feel worse about myself, and makes me want to go back to some old habits. For me, my depression has always come and gone, lasts a couple of months and then I'm somewhat ok for a month or so and then it comes back again. I've never felt it like this before, this constant numbness, and I don't understand what I'm feeling or how to explain it. I think my mum is getting a bit fed up with me (I'm nosey and overheard a phone call), but I don't really care, it's harder to be around people now since I can't seem to find my 'shut the hell up you idiot before you f things up worse' switch. I'm tired all the time and that makes it harder for me to keep what I'm thinking in check, so I tend to insult people without realising, and that doesn't translate into 'maybe we should talk about what's actually bothering you' but I do quite like making people upset so it kinda works. But I'm so lonely that it hurts, knowing that I can't talk about all this to a friend, instead I'm posting it here.

Who wants a Death Star that costs $850 Quadrillion?

I Want a Death Star and I want it now! -
You can't treat someone who had Aspergers the same as someone else who has Aspergers. I personally don't think this guy had Aspergers, but tbh I haven't really cared much about him nor his victims or followed anything about this shooting, simply because it doesn't interest me. But I've been half reading this topic and have decided to comment. You seem particularly interested in someone who killed school children, because of this dare I say obsession or fixation you have of Lanza, does that mean you would feel inclined to follow in his footsteps? To see if you feel compelled by this act of violence to see if you get the same feelings as Lanza? Just curious because reading and maybe fantasising about this or other shootings may compel you (or others) to act them out, just like you're suggesting 'violent' video games make loners want to steal cars and kill prostitutes in the hope to make some friends. Who's life is 'perfectly normal'? There's various degrees of normality and really parents divorcing is becoming the new normal. If every child who's parents divorced became murderers then there'd be millions of these sorta killings. The parents may not have cared about how the divorce may hurt him? Most children get upset when their parents divorce, I would have thought they'd get upset at either parents or blame themselves. But then again this guy was in his 20s right? He should have had some sort of reasoning that hey maybe this isn't about me, as I'm sure his parents told him that. Isn't the American economy sill pretty bad? Could that be the reason why the father was behind in payments? You can't force someone to socialise, and being a social retard is more likely to have that person just kill themselves, rather then go into a space around hundreds of people and watched kill others.

I speak to my horse that was put down in 2011, seems stupid but I would have conversations with him when he was alive, so it helped somewhat when I would speak to him in my head. I speak to Karl, I find it soothing in a way speaking to him, even though I don't believe in an afterlife, it just makes me feel like he's still a part of me, helping me and answering my questions, or at least helping me to come to my own conclusions about problems. It's worse in some ways though because there are things I want to share with him that I know he would have been interested in, but it gives me some peace of mind that it doesn't worry me so much that he's never going to actually reply, just as long as I keep speaking to him. I don't speak out loud to either of them.. My mother would probably have me committed.. And I feel like these are private conversations anyways so I wouldn't want anyone alive to know what I was saying. And even though I sometimes end up crying after speaking to them both, I don't wish to stop anytime soon.

I talked quite a bit to Karl about his death, He didn't believe in an afterlife. I think that scared him a bit. He was my best friend, someone who knew me and understood what I was trying to say. He was a kind soul, who was afraid of hurting others because of his extreme protectiveness. I hate the thought of life without him, I don't really want to know a life without him in it. My life was richer with him in it, I love him so much and I will forever miss him and I will never forget him.

I would say yes and no. Lesbian relationships are just like straight or gay relationships, some can be more sexual then others. Just depends on the people in the relationship.
