  1. As my little brother used to say when we was youngins - "you're not cheatin fair!"
  2. Nah that was just editor and writer arguing abou the 'finer' points of their craft.
  3. And then there is this one - let's call this Renee and Wayne http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rd7j-aSqFU
  4. Perhaps this is a slight bit off topic BUTTTTT - with every sentence in your post ending in an exclamation point, I was reminded of this: Renee and her editor
  5. Yes, the files I sent Mark were in ePub format, not .mobi. .mobi is not the default standard according to everything I've read, ePub is the standard. The only device that doesn't support ePub is Kindles. They support .mobi. Of course the kindle reader app is available for iPhones, iPad, laptops, androids, you name Amazon is making itself available on it. I've also heard that Kindle is working on or has released an ePub to .mobi convert so ePub docs can run on Kindles. Basically everyone, Sony, Nook, iBooks, Android devices, everything but Kindle has accepted ePub as the standard. Not that you're old enough to remember this, but way back in the dark ages when there were VCRs instead of DVD, Sony tried to create it's own standard- Betamax - it was superior in most every way to VHS, but everyone else who made VCRs adopted the VHS standard rather than pay Sony royalties for betamax. Amazon is trying to make .mobi the default standard and everyone else has lined up against them. I suspect that much like sony capitulated and made VHS VCRs, so too will Amazon make Kindles work with ePub documents in the not too near future. I suspect that is why they are working on the converter app, so that when they finally make the switch, the older kindles will be able to run ePub docs which is probably all that will be available soon.
  6. Nice to hear from another who is following. Here's the thing, it's hard to balance too much vs too little. Too much description makes one's eyes roll back in their head, too little and folks are like - wait, how the hell did that just happen. Throughout the course of the book(s) Farrell, and others, will use magic, though because this is from Farrell's POV, most of our knowledge will come from him. There will be others who pop in who are older than Farrell who will teach him during the course of the story. I've written the ultimate end, though it has undergone a few changes to account for different characters I added or deleted and different dynamics than I first envisioned, but the final battle won't really change much. So with that in mind, I'm trying to add in the details bit by bit that will answer what Farrell and Meglar are doing without having to explain things or make the reader stop and ask WTH happened. What I wanted to do with this story is make it less about the wizardry, and more about the relationships/characters. But since being a wizards is so integral to Farrell, I'm trying to include snippets here and there as well as magic - or High Magic episodes to allow me to flesh out some of those details well before the end. If that didn't answer it well enough let me know, i'm trying to answer without giving away too much. And there is a long way to go with this, I mean we've barely scratched the surface of Nendor, there are a ton more places and people to introduce before this is over. Thanks for the note and please do tell me if there are parts where you're wanting more so I can think about correcting things before it gets published. Andy
  7. Agreed - Cia in 2012- woo hoo. But Cia made the banner for me. So I can't change it. Fortunately the banner and the ad campaign are separate from each other so no worries there, Cia in 2012 is here to stay.
  8. Since I'm old enough to be your Mum, let me offer my two cents. She's probably a bit put off that you would say female parts repulse you - probably want to keep that to yourself next time Okay seriously - her logic is a bit like this - All of Winston Churchill is dead, therefore all dead people are named Winston Churchil. Being sure of who you are isn't the same as feeling secure enough in your surroundings to tell people everything about you. For example. My family knew first before my friends, then a few friends, but not work, then finally I came out at work, but didn't wear a pink triangle or have a rainbow flag on my car, now we have the sticker on the car - but I'm no more or less gay now then when I first came out. I'm just more secure in my surrounding and have a greater support network to rely on if and when things go bad. So just because all of you is gay, doesn't mean you tell all people all things about your gayness. Momma Q
  9. Holy Crap you and Anyta have the same birthday? Must be one helluva good day to have been born. Hope it was a great day Jammi.
  10. Yeah it's a bit late and I can't believe I forgot, but hopefully it's true what they say about better late than never. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANYTA!!!! And many more happy days to come!!
  11. Well I did say I'm the Author FORMERLY known as Q - sooooooo meyyyybbbbeeeeee
  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM!!! Enjoy your day kiddo and remember it's good to still be young! So do lotsa fun things.
  13. I like Commissioner Gordon - think Myr will let me change it to that?
  14. Not sure, I don't remember when I was in the closet it's been so long, but if it is, I want my coming out party.
  15. Yeah like I know how to do that. LOL Cia made if for, maybe if I'm really nice to her, she'll fix it for me. Hey stop laughing, I can be nice to people. . . . well, maybe every now and then I can.
  16. So wait, this person has the stones to say you stole it from them? Seriously?
  17. What's really great about what Myr did, is if you Google 'Quonus10' and click on one of the story links, they still work and shunt you to the story with Andrew Q Gordon as the author so people looking for the 'old' me will find the 'new' me. I'm thinking of changing the title from "Q" to "New name, same bad attitude." At least for a while
  18. Tell that is what the "Q" stands for
  19. So I got permission to change my screen name to Andrew Q Gordon to make it consistent with what my other books will say when they are published. So not the change and I expect the forum name and the link to my stories will change soon too. Andy
  20. Cliff? What Cliff? I'm being framed. Now I know how poor CJ feels. Cia must be paying you, but she's wasting her money, Premium Content isn't eligible for a reader's choice aware, not even King of Cliffs, so I am NOT eligible no matter how hard you or Cia work at it.
  21. Indeed, many more happy days to come
  22. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARA! Here's hoping you have a great great day!!! Sorry I don't have any snazzy jazzy pictures to attach. But 'lil Q sends you a
  23. Steve, That was almost a year ago, but I still remember the coffee shop and where we sat Yeah, I had a plan, but what happened turned out better than I hoped. To answer your question(s), they didn't allow me to post it in GA Premium, GA owned the rights first. Mry and GA gave me permission to either ePublish it or shop it around. The only condition is that it will never be removed from GA Premium. Which answers the question about will it come down - no. The publisher agreed because the story is only available to a very limited audience - i.e. Premium Content Members. If Chosen were offered for free on GA Stories, I'd have to take it down. The other thing was the story couldn't be offered as an eBook yet. So had I ePublished it, I'd have had to take it down before they would publish it. Something to do with Amazon's rules. Basically, if you post it for free, you can't ePublish it on Amazon. Of course if you tweak/edit/change the story somewhat, you can rename it and ePublish it. Same goes generally with publishers. If it's posted for free they won't take it unless you take down the story. That's my understanding of it at least.
  24. Your husband is a lucky man, Frosty. Make sure you remind him of that often
