So many frigging possibilities, I have to wonder if the following contains the moment Hugo is searching for..
"I... I have my watch," Wojciech stammered, his voice laced with the terror that was now a cold, hard knot in his gut. "The moment I see you hurt him, the moment I see... I press it. You lose."
Dottie smiled, a cold, clinical curve of her lips. She gestured to the man with the rifle. "Please, Mister Miller, be so kind as to remind Mister Wojciech of my intentions." She stated pointedly, a flash of something in her eyes, a flicker of something far more cruel than a simple show of force.
The man with the rifle, a grim figure with a military haircut, tapped Stoker on the side of his head with the barrel of his gun A hollow, metallic sound that echoed in the silent lounge. Stoker flinched, his body tensing, but his head remained bowed.
To me, the sound the gun barrel makes when tapping the side of Stoker's head seems off, more than likely I am wrong, I leave that to @drpaladin to explain..
Which leaves me to wonder what did happen when Stoker stepped off the chair to hang himself...
I can't buy the following completely either...
"This isn't going to kill Stoker," the Fiddler said, his voice a low, intimate whisper that carried no malice, only the cold, unyielding truth. "No. The streams will reset, and he will be alive again, back in his prison, waiting. The real death, my dear Hugo, is going to be yours. It will be the slow, agonizing death of your soul. A beautiful, brilliant mind like yours will not be able to bear the weight of a thousand failures. The grief will curdle into a bitter, resentful rot. You will become numb. You will become hard. The raw, human emotion that makes you you, that makes you love so fiercely, will wither and die. And in its place, a cold, calculating machine, a machine that is willing to sacrifice anything, to pay any price, to win a game of its own design, will take hold."
Time for some more cold medicine...
