Hey there...calm down a bit...just because I came of age in the 1960's don't mean I misremember everything...

Another classic by Geron Kees, a short and sweet, tender tale about growing up and finding that certain someone!! Sometimes what you are searching for isn't that difficult to find. A compelling tale of friendship set in a unique setting. Take a gander...it is worth the the time to read!!

Wonderful job Geron, you managed to capture the essence of teenage angst so very well!! Loved the following...and I bet Ray's girlfriend has tats, built like trucker, gargles stone dust in the morning after brushing her teeth with old corncobs!! He opened his eyes, and found the other boy smiling at him. "What are you thinking about now, Goof?" There was fondness in the way Snark asked him, and Jason realized that that fondness had been there all along. "I'm interested," he said, smiling. Snark eyed him. "In what?" "In you, stupid." Snark's eyes widened, he blinked...and then he smiled. "Really?" "Yes. Really." A look of delight appeared on Snark's features, and Jason felt slightly breathless at its appearance.

For Colin, Armand, and the boys...the world has certainly grown smaller...to their benefit!!! Studies show that children who speak multiple languages or play a musical instrument do much better educationally!! Glad to see they are home and for Colin and Armand, it looks like vacations are already being planned by the boys!! One has to wonder, just how big will the boat have to be to fit all of them???

There was some unfounded criticism directed to the author, who posted a note, since taken down, that if they didn't like the story, the content, and the direction..to go fly a kite. I may be wrong, but I believe some of that criticism was personal and unwarranted. It was implied that the author may take the story down as a result. While not knowing the specifics, I have to agree with the author. We are so lucky to have Gay Authors and what this site provides. Especially a place for authors of all different stripes to grace us with their work. It is my opinion, and in that opinion...that when you disagree with the tone or content of a story, put it down and go somewhere else. It would never be acceptable to disparage an author personally. It simply isn't called for or acceptable behavior. No one has a monopoly on the truth, this world contains many shades of differences and to each their own. I can't say it enough, this site has expanded my world immeasurably, through the exposure to so many different stories, comments to those stories and the reactions to those comments.

My advice to all considering the time of year is that it is snow time to be punning around....

To be forewarned is to be prepared, we know that the leaders of one of the successor Arks was of a military, subdue and conquer mindset, the spoils of conflict to the victor...wonder where he is...in fact, along with news from earth that is decades old, could a 'sentry' be somehow disguised and sent closer? Would this not give them more recent news and the ability to be better able to protect themselves?

Can't disagree with any of the comments above, they are all spot on!! Loved the following... "You look worn out, Truck." Truck's eyes opened, and he looked over. "Oh. Hi, Goof. Yeah, I'm tired. I don't think I'm made to have wheels under me." "Aw." Jason reached out and patted Truck's shoulder. "You've come a long way. Be proud. You should be." The bigger boy smiled, and looked over at him with renewed interest. "That's one reason I like you, Goof. Always something nice to say about someone."

This is a story I normally would not review, the themes are dark and unsettling. And at the same time it makes this reader pause and think that it can't happen here! Could it?

Truly a surrealistic dystopian view of a possible future we face as those who lead us, continue to talk to each other and not to each other. I suppose it is common knowledge but...one lesson learned from the pandemic was just how fragile our supply chains are...remember all the empty shelves, the first to go was of all things...toilet paper and paper towels. Remember the baby formula shortage of a few months ago, the result of impurities in the manufacturing process... Good luck getting the car or truck of your choice, providing they can find the computer chips it requires... Remember the yahoo who shot up the electrical stations in North Carolina, our power grid is past the point of being vulnerable...the same goes for our transportation systems...think about it... Our computer driven supply chain is but a second or two from breaking down, we only make what we need as it is needed and shipped. No longer do we have inventory on hand, too expensive to keep or warehouse... Then there are the farms that grow our foods, most if not all, use genetically engineered seeds...just like the ones we can buy in the Lawn and Garden sections of our favorite stores...their wonderfully resistant to all sorts of pests and plant diseases, which I suppose makes them doubly wonderful...the caveat is that the crops you grow from those packets of seeds, along with the seeds sold to the large agriculture farming concerns, the food grown may be great and lovely to eat...it's just that the seeds from those crops are useless. We are being sold one use only seeds, they are genetically designed so the purchaser of those seeds have to keep coming back, year after year for new seeds...When the shite hits the fan, how do you feed millions upon millions... And these are just a few of the obvious issues, when will our political leaders start acting like adults???

Loved the this story and the following thought from Jason... Jason had covered the walls of his bedroom with faces, most still attached to the action shots that were really the reason for the photos to begin with. His mother and father often admired his work, his dad especially in awe of some of the crazy stuff skaters did on their boards. No one ever suspected that it was the faces that Jason loved the most: beautiful, animated, and oh so personal. Close enough to kiss, if he had a mind to do such a thing. And sometimes he did. He often felt the need to touch someone, and be touched in return. Sometimes it was hard being alone. So much is captured in these three sentences...simply powerful imagery that speaks deeply to Jason's soul... Ray is an enigma, a mystery to be solved, not quite like the great white whale, but for Jason the pull is every bit as strong. It's not a lost leg that drives him forward, in his internal nascent quest, but the need to connect with another like-minded soul. Well done and very enjoyable, looking forward to the rest!!!

Well I would have chosen all of them but did vote for one....my thanks to all involved in creating this for us!!! And...at the risk of sounding like a broken record...this is one of the reasons GA is phenomenal!!
