While events within are not necessarily my cup of tea, I can't help but be enthralled by this short story. And you had me at the following... When he moved in a few months ago, I made the offer for him to bring some furnishings, but I think he knew it was an empty offer. I had to make it, of course he knew that, but he also knew that I wasn’t really ready for that. I think he knew I was barely ready for him to move in. But his lease ended, and I do love him, so despite how hard it was for me to make the offer, I did. It was difficult, but I managed to do it. It’s now our home, not just mine.

Friends, Fellow Writers, the GA Mod Team, and Inspiration
drsawzall commented on BendtedWreath's blog entry in Ben's Bumblings - 11/11/24
@BendtedWreath, thank you for the mention. While I haven't been submitting entries lately, I have been vocal in supporting the authors whom I read, I am constantly amazed at the wide variety of different types of offerings. To me, and along with the comments, is why this site ranks among the best story sites. We are blessed that so many put in the effort to create something for us to enjoy. There are days when I am effusive in my praise, or impatient while awaiting the next chapter/story. And then there are those days when the author truly earns their pay, as demonstrated by some of the strident, not-so-kind, or stupid comments I have left. To that, I can only say that the author has truly earned my respect by engaging me so. I guess what I am trying to say is, it's the author's fault that my alter-ego...Uncle Cranky chimes in occasionally.... that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!! -
How will they show him to satiate his hunger?

As a lover of antique cars, let's hope any action takes place outside the car..... Loving the developing and deepening relationship between Vince and Peter! I've come across a bunch of old photos while unpacking from my move nearly a year ago. Who was that skinny young man, and where did he go? My waistline asks...

Chapter 24 - A Different Kind of Magic
drsawzall commented on Adam Andrews Johnson's story chapter in Chapter 24 - A Different Kind of Magic
Some interesting developments are happening here. Is it true romance, and will our friends return to the Mermonster? -
And senior year is about to hit full stride...

Brother Mathias is the evil he would purport to inveigh against...a true snake in the weeds...And Clothilde Chênier isn't any better in her misguided faith....a bitter, envious, washed up, dried out, hag.... Don Rafael looked a little embarrassed by the public attention to his health, but also visibly relieved that his ailment was finally being seriously acknowledged. He had tried to ignore it, but… Mathias’s lips thinned almost imperceptibly, his attempt to cast Amélie in a suspicious light deflected by the Governor’s prior, albeit vague, observations. He had to let it go for now. As the Governor and his party were taking their leave of the Noirs, Brother Mathias inclined his head stiffly towards Etienne and Amélie, a bland mask settling over his features. “May your endeavors be blessed,” he murmured, his voice just loud enough for them to hear, “if they are indeed righteous.” He then turned pointedly to join Clothilde Chênier, who had been watching the entire exchange with a hawk-like, almost febrile intensity from the edge of the street, never setting foot on the lot. “May I accompany you home, Madame? These are dangerous times for a lady of faith.”

Red Herring's Incoming....dive...dive...dive... "Do you know there was a girl with Joey the night he died?" I called out. He turned sharply on his heel and crossed back to me, coming much closer than before, until he was looming over me. "What did you say?" "It was a girl, with Joey, right before he died. They were arguing—" "How do you know that?" "Robbie told me last night when I called. You mean the junior detectives found something out the big bad policemen didn't know?" "Listen, kid," he growled, poking a sausage finger into my chest, "I've tried to be nice up to now, but you're really pushing it. You're goddamn lucky I'm not bringing you up on obstruction charges...and even luckier that you're not six feet under. Two kids are dead because you wanted to play detective. Does it make you feel better that you were right? Does that somehow justify their deaths? They'd be alive right now if you stayed out of it." I still feel something is fishy with the good detective...and Laura conveniently is leading hir hit parade.... "Grafton was way out of line," Aidan said. We were sitting on the couch, Aidan with his arms around me, holding me close. "He can't know that Robbie died because of us. He should have never said that." "He's right," I sniffled. "We're as much to blame for his and Keiyara's death as if we'd killed them ourselves." "That's insane," he argued. "The killer would have found them herself eventually. What were we supposed to do, just let her get away with Joey's death?" "At least no one else would have died." Catlin seems to be sliding to #2 suspect, but she's not out of the woods yet.... And...with Will and Aiden's conversation the following morning, I'm still thinking he's up to something.... While it was much too late, I'm glad there was some reconciliation between Will and his father

The Lady in Black must have more than nine lives...from Ch 20 She laughed, a cold, mocking sound that sent shivers down his spine. "You think you can defeat me, Reginald? You are but a mere mortal." Khonsu appeared at that moment and smiled at her he placed his hand on Reggi shoulder. He whispered in his ear “Get her Reggi.” He raised the walking stick and pointed it at her and commanded it to be bright! The impact sent Reginald stumbling back, but he quickly regained his footing. The Lady in Black was momentarily blinded by the light, giving him a brief advantage. He charged forward, swinging his walking stick with all his might. The stick connected with her, and she let out a cry of pain. But she was not easily defeated. With a flick of her wrist, she summoned a swarm of shadowy figures that surrounded Reginald, their ghostly forms reaching out to him. He fought them off, using the light from his walking stick to dispel the shadows. Each strike was precise and powerful, but the shadows kept coming. Reginald knew he needed to end this quickly. He focused his energy, drawing on the strength of his ancestors. "By the power of my bloodline I call on my ancestors, I command you to be banished!" he shouted. The walking stick glowed even brighter, and a wave of pure, radiant light erupted from it, engulfing the Lady in Black and her shadowy minions. The light was blinding, and for a moment, everything was silent. When the light faded, the Lady in Black was gone, and the street was once again peaceful. Reginald stood there, breathing heavily, his walking stick still glowing faintly. He had done it. He had defeated the Lady in Black.

Hopefully, the aimless spinning of everyone's wheels will begin to slow and eventually come to a halt... -
When you need your pipe cleaned, desperate times call for desperate measures... Bob’s mind whirled. The thought of being as exposed as the biker, under that knowing gaze… it was terrifying and, if he was honest, thrilling. The desire to touch the chopper, to please this man, warred with his shyness. "I… uh… I’m going commando today," he blurted out, then wished the ground would swallow him. The biker raised an eyebrow, the amusement in his eyes deepening. "Commando, huh? Even better. Simpler. But…,“ he reached into one of the saddlebags beside the lounger, rummaged for a second, and pulled out a small, wadded-up piece of fabric. He tossed it to Bob. "Lucky for you, I usually carry a spare. It’s… well, it’s seen a few miles, probably smells like it too, but it'll do the job. Unless you prefer to work in your birthday suit?" He winked, the challenge clear.

Is it Coradiel's time to die or did Arlo just kill Lillian? -
While I am saddened by the fact this is beginning to wrap up, I find comfort in knowing that there will be so much more to come!!! @Summerabbacat, it was 39 degrees F this morning, and yesterday was the first day of meteorological summer here. Supposedly, we will see temps in the 80's and 90's F this week. This Saturday past was the 12th Saturday in a row that it rained.... I am hoping today to get my garden planted...fingers crossed!!

Chapter 21 - Coming Together

Will the Mermonster even let her on board? -

Could it be... Then, a vibration. Subtle at first, a tremor through the floorboards, growing into a low, guttural rumble that made the glass in the window pane hum. Bob straightened, his daydreams scattering like tumbleweeds, ears pricked. This wasn't the whine of a semi or the polite purr of a family sedan. This was something raw, something with teeth. The sound swelled, a deep-chested, throbbing roar that seemed to shake the very foundations of the desolate station. A machine of sheer, breathtaking presence rolled onto the forecourt. It wasn't just a motorcycle; it was a chopper, a sculpted beast of gleaming chrome and paint so black it seemed to drink the sunlight. Long, raked-out forks stretched to a minimalist front wheel. Ape-hanger handlebars swept upwards, daring the sky. The fuel tank, a teardrop of polished obsidian, flowed seamlessly into a deeply dished leather seat, backed by a wickedly tall sissy bar. Twin fishtail exhaust pipes, chromed to a mirror shine, promised thunder. Bob felt his breath catch. He’d pored over pictures in those dog-eared bike magazines, dreamt of them, but never one this… perfect, this potent, in the flesh… or rather, steel and chromium.

Well now...haven't the red herrings been spawning... Why are the Detectives pushing a couple of half assed theories.... Did Joey have any previous connection with either detective? Why did Keiyara have Joey's necklace? Why did Laura get so antsy when Robbie Meade was introduced...more importantly, what else did Robbie Meade not divulge?? Catlin's comment of not letting anyone hurt the baby is/was very telling... Robbie Meade is justifiably terrified...is he #3 on the hit parade?? Where is the rock right now? A DNA test is waiting... Why haven't we seen or heard from Miki's brother Lurch...could he have been involved with supposedly straight Joey??? And...Does Miki have an alibi???
