Chapter 3 - Kosephaji, Relliduna, & Pelipi; Part One
drsawzall commented on Adam Andrews Johnson's story chapter in Chapter 3 - Kosephaji, Relliduna, & Pelipi; Part One
Oh what tangled webs we weave when at first we can't deceive... -
It looks like the swimming pool is full of angst and teenage hormones...

Let's hope Simon doesn't run across any stray cats....

The other human wasn't going to be of any help whatsoever, it was pretty obvious, while he had his own story, by not being forthcoming, Becket was wise not to trust him. Will Becket find the Wisps sleeping in the straw in the morning?

So many thoughts and feelings from this chapter and I'm not exactly sure just where to begin...for such an accepting culture I am a bit chagrined, there are however efforts to change this injustice... “Possibly we are in some ways, while not in other ways. I have a reason for saying this, because unfortunately I must request that you do not mention to anyone other than myself that you and Devin are planning to marry. Although we do not have a problem with members of the same-sex having sexual relations, same-sex marriage is illegal for Diné. That’s due to a tribal law that was passed in 2018.” Speaking of injustices, we as a nation, have our collective heads up our backsides, regarding our treatment, acknowledgement, and abuse, we as a nation have shown the Native American population. We refuse to reexamine, treaties and other legal agreements that were crafted more than a century ago, that were specifically to deny these tribes the economic benefits that we allow big business/corporations to glean without recompense. More to the point, we deny them access to water rights that originate and traverse their reservations. At the highest level of our legal system, time and time again our courts refuse to consider any abrogation of agreements signed shortly after the civil war. It is the policy that we know needs changing, yet because it is uncomfortable to face up to. Villages, hamlets, towns, and cities have blossomed in places they don't belong or possibly sustain themselves if it weren't to the theft of resources from Native American tribes... We as a nation, don't teach as we should the holocaust we are responsible for, in this country, because little Johnny and Suzy might be upset... How can we ever make the progress as a nation if we do not learn from the mistakes of the past, so we don't make the same mistakes moving forward...this isn't "woke" but frigging common sense!!!! Sorry for the rant, this was a phenomenal chapter....

Well...another chapter I'm gonna have to reread in the morning, much going on here... Daventry's skills between the sheets are handsomely rewarded... Davinia, there is an interesting juxtaposition...not to mention Freddie is off doing god knows what...Just what does she want...another child, gambling debts made to disappear? The gift of the ermine robes was a nice gesture by his father, incremental steps, but perhaps a recognition that Grainger is eclipsing his oldest, wastrel son... Graingers mother the Duchess, I hope and pray her health is ok, something is going on if she's gonna let Davinia stand in her stead...Just what is the shrew up to.... Caroline...is it possible she's contracted a venereal disease or something else that is affecting her health??? It is amazing how far she's fallen, the ill conceived missive that Grainger now holds just may be the final blow...Just how economically healthy are her estates...and those of her father??? Where does she run to now...the Guild?? Let it be said, when comparing oneself to your fellow denizens in the sty, folks will only see you for the porcus you truly have become... The property adjacent to Lord Spenser and the funds to build a new home is staggering and well earned...it would seem Grainger isn't without some of Daventry's talent betwixt the sheets as well... Talk about prescient... “My opinion is that while His Imperial Majesty views France and the French government with disdain, he is hopeful that Napoleon Bonaparte will prove to be a leader who can eradicate some of the more radical tendencies of that country, and provide stability to both France and the rest of Europe,” Granger said. “Do you think that is the case, my lord?” Vorontsov asked. Granger paused to think about that question, then answered. “I do not know, but I am skeptical.” “I am interested to hear why,” Vorontsov countered. “I have met Bonaparte once, and have interacted with many who know him,” Granger said. “My impression is that he is a quintessential warrior. I find it hard to imagine he will be happy with peace.”

Late to the party but it was worth the wait, I'm suspecting with the rash of robberies/hold-ups, there must have been some descriptions of those bushwhacking varmints' , and when they arrive in town there will be no doubt as to the identity of the two deceased brothers. It may provide a clue as to who the leader of the gang is/was...speaking of which...that shoulder is in great need of medical attention, while Bearpaw is a smal, growing town...do they have means of a telegraph or some such other form of communication with Larkspur and other surrounding communities??? That type of shoulder wound is gonna need medical attention, I may be wrong, but I do not think it is a flesh wound...Despite my rambling, I don't think Tilted Hat is gonna be moving fast...or far.... Now thinking back to Lucas and his unrequited interest in Larkspur...was/is the new Doc that moved to town married???

Will she know of the Abbot and Simon, the mechanical heart? A small slender figure in forest green clothes covering their entire body and a hooded cowl concealing their face appeared in the doorway. Then she spoke, “Come with me.”

A true case of mixed emotions this particular morning and much to reflect and ponder on... I found the following to be so true and something we all need to remember as we lead our busy lives... There is a feeling of sadness when you know this will be the last time you will see a friend. You start to think about the times you could have seen him but didn’t take the time to spend more time with them. Then when the end comes, you berate yourself and make promises you won’t miss time with those friends that are still with you. With these thoughts, I vowed to spend more time with my parents and friends like Mary and Pat. I vowed to cherish my time with the boys and their families, Thinking about GG, I heard the rocking chair.

While everyone is different, managing sobriety will always be a day to day decision. Like most of my peers, I imbibed and at times to excess. Looking in a mirror one morning after the loss of a close friend, like Connor I felt I needed a drink. Nearly 14 years later it remains the best decision I ever made. Life is so much richer now. There was a great message in this chapter and I'm looking forward to the next chapters!!
