The pup and took an abbreviated walk early this morning and then I did a few chores. First I took mum's car to the carwash, it's cleaned and shined inside and out. I bought her a new set of floormats. Went to the recycle center so that mum will not need to do that for a bit after she comes home. Then to the pet superstore for the additive for Thistle's water. It's an extract of green tea and other natural stuff that helps prevent tartar build up and keeps his breath nice. Next a stop a Target for a couple of things before heading back to the house where I trimmed and sized the floormats to fit mum's car and wiped down the interior surfaces with protectant to prevent sun damage. Mum drive's a 1999 Saturn sedan. It's in very good condition and well maintained, she's got a great mechanic. Now I'm being lazy for a bit before I get cleaned up for a picnic with some of the neighbors late this afternoon. Mum baked brownies to go with ice cream for dessert. I have a large crockpot of baked beans that's been simmering all night and I'm going to make a tossed salad too. The picnic should be fun.

No I do not. My paternal grandmother made a rhubarb custard meringue pie that everyone said was very good. I disagreed. Mum has a recipe for rhubarb crisp/crunch that everyone says is delicious. I however, disagree. Many people think strawberries and rhubarb are a tasty combination. I disagree. Apparently when it comes to rhubarb I'm just a disagreeable curmudgeon.

Neither am I.

G'day y'all. The low overnight temp was 78/25° with even worse humidity. The window panes actually had condensation on them this morning. Forecast is for temps in the upper 90's/30's potentially 100° even here near the beach where temps are usually moderated by the onshore sea breeze. The sun is intense. Mum is predicting some nasty sunburns for folks heading home after the holiday weekend. Thistle and I skipped our morning walk.

I thought I was suffering a case of deja vu.

I don't think it's so much that it's tolerable but a sense of being at fault. When you see another person you don't view as innocent threatened that drives home the realization that you're not the one responsible.

G'day y'all. It was bloody 78/25° and even more humid than yesterday and that was just before dawn. Thistle and I took an abbreviated walk as the sun was rising. Then I took my car to the local carwash, I belong to a program where I pay $19.99 a month and can wash my car as often as I like but that will be suspended as of Tuesday until I reactivate it when I come back in November. Now the car is clean inside and out, they include free access to vacuum plus clothes for drying the car and interior cleaning supplies with the cost of the wash. Back home in PA I pay extra for that. I'm taking a short break before I start sorting what things get packed in boxes to ship home, what will go in my suitcase and what stays here. We leave midday Wednesday to begin the trip home. Oh and my head aches.

Is that a euphemism for something dirty?
