The most notable aspect is her short term memory. She repeats herself often, forgets/or doesn't know what day it is, often forgets what it is she's to be doing, i.e. bathing or dressing, taking her medication. She's no longer able to be responsible for herself or her affairs though if prompted expresses valid thoughts or opinions concerning them. She sleeps more. She still remembers people and usually places. It's a struggle to get her to eat and drink enough. I worry because her mother, my grandmother, eventually became nonverbal and unresponsive to most external stimulus. She just sat lost inside herself for the last few years of her life. It was as if she died before she died. I don't want that for Mum.
