I'm back! Did you miss me? Last week the prompts were interrupted by our Roll The Dice Anthology going live. I do hope you took the time to read them all and leave the authors a review.
Anyway I have some nice new ideas to get your mind going and hopefully find you writing again. So for your writing possibilities I present these two new ideas.
Prompt 238 - Creative
Tag - The Offer
You haven't been on a date in months and truthfully, you've let work take over your life. Then out of left field your co-worker asks you out. However, it isn't a normal date they want. What is the offer they are making to you?
Prompt 239 - Creative
Tag - First Line
"Just give me a minute, please."
So hopefully one or the other of these might appeal to you. Curious what others have done? Well if we look at the last set of prompts there were a few authors who picked up the gauntlet and created some interesting answers to the prompts. We had a new author attempt the prompts by the name of Kitt. Let me show you what Kitt created.
So are you curious to what else Kitt had to say? I hope so. You can read the rest of her story and the rest of the authors who decided to use this prompt here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37104-prompt-236-creative/
You can read the responses to prompt 237 here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37106-prompt-237-creative/
Have a good week everyone and hope to see your response here next.
Jo,
So sorry to hear you were attacked by ants, had a rattle snake visit, and then had to deal with a swarm (okay two) JW, and had to have hubby come riding into the rescue. Sounds like a typical day to me or for someone with my type of luck. Just hang in there, things have to get better.
Asam,
No I don't plan to make this a prompt. Jo's been through enough.
I have a few stories I have been working on but I figured if I didn't get something going besides the anthologies people were going to think I didn't do anything. Hence the story Life Changes. Inspired by the work being done by Renee Stevens who is putting out a chapter a week based off the prompts, I figured I could do that too, especially since I create the prompts.
The story will mainly revolve around Ralph and his brother, Neil. Their lives will undergo some changes and they will have to figure out how to roll with the punches. I hope to keep everyone's interest so comments will help to know if I am close to the base or not. Each chapter will be fairly short, meaning between 800 to a 1000 words approximately.
Let me know what you think.
Yeah none of the chapters will be super long. They average about 800 to a 1000 words and will focus on the brothers, using the prompt lines to start each chapter.
Thank you Rebel. Yeah the story will have short chapters but I have a few written out already so they will post weekly. Glad you enjoyed the start of this.
Life Changes – Chapter 1
“I have to have a talk with your mother.”Neil stood in the doorway looking totally distraught.
“What’s up?” I set down my English homework and gave him my full attention.
He stood there biting his lower lip and slowly shifted his weight from one leg to the other. I immediately noticed the difference in Neil, my brother was usually the one who took action, not look for help. This whole change in him was beginning to get to me.
“Look, if it is really important talk to
Neil and Ralph are brothers who are facing major changes in their lives. One has suddenly become a father and the other is facing the fact he is gay. What these changes will mean is yet to be seen.
In a story you can change things with a stroke of a pen, but real life isn't as neat. Besides sometimes you characters go where they want to and not exactly where you planned to put them.
There was this little kid skipping and running but holding onto her balloon. Just wanted to pop it, but not a meanie.
Is there an event you look forward to this summer (winter)?
Life rarely goes as one would like it to. Sometimes you have to just agree that the choices need to be made, and sometimes no matter how you wish it were different, you make a choice and let the dice land where they might. Thanks for commenting RJ.
Well you definitely went to the dark side with this one. Abusive relationship, a sort of loss of reality, and coming to take it all as part of a normal relationship. Ouch.
