  1. Trainspotting Factoids #1 dialogue in the 1996 movie is in “Scots” dialect (some say language) - if you’ve seen the movie you’ll have needed subtitles #2 the book (and movie) are named after “trainspotters” who (some say obsessively ) chase after +record (in notebooks, pics or vids) seemingly trivial (some say pointless ) information like loco numbers #3 Irvine Welsh says he chose this name “because only trainspotters can understand why they spot trains” and he compared the act of spotting trains to “the act of using heroin, which may seem pointless to people who don't use it” #4 trainspotting originated in England - 1841 is the earliest record (Colonel James Pennyman - trains on the Great North of England Railway), which is quite late considering locos had been operating commercially almost 30 years since 1812 #5 a huge chunk of British YouTube channels are trainspotters #6 not to be confused with bus spotting - same activities, but different folk mostly separate from trainspotters, although there is some overlap eg Nathan:

  17. Chroniques Sexuelles D'Une Famille D'Aujourd'Hui (2012) Has anyone seen this movie? It kind of qualifies here because the older son in the family is bi (or bi-curious) and also he’s hot It’s very French, quite funny, and shot in cinéma-vérité style - “a style of film-making characterized by realistic… films which avoid artificiality” and, uh *coughs* it sure does that You see, the film kicks off with the premise that the mum is confronted by the headmaster (she’s just been summoned to the school) suspending the younger son who’s just been caught at school in biology class “wiggling the weasel” under the desk and filming it to fulfil a dare by his classmates. Which leads to mum+dad engaging with their sons about what they get up to and where they might have ‘gone wrong’. And so one thing leads to another as the cameras follow the various family members around while they, er, get up to what they get up to… But here’s the thing - because it’s cinéma-vérité what you see is actually happening, not faked… There’s an interview online with the film’s directors and the principal actor (the younger son) in French (link below) + an English translation I got somehow (also pdf) but I don’t know if a pdf on an iPad can be attached? https://www.toloda.com/sites/default/files/cs_dossierpresse.pdf
