  1. Happy birthday!
  2. Can I just say that this kind of attitude really annoys me? This is the fucking real world, not Gay-Topia. Thank you! Was wondering how long it would be till the gay assumptions stopped. The vibe I get from the BBC article is that he's working through it as he has his relationship now. It's like bisexuality would be a kind of "default" for him right now if one really needs to slap a label on it, though "undecided" does seem like closer to the truth.
  3. You and me both. All things considered, Ohio State let Michigan stay way too close to them all game long yesterday. But with regards to "some other stupid conference will win it this year": Cry me a river!
  4. Sooo, in today's game they said this would be the Lions' year to win their division (their first in 19 seasons). I happen to agree very much with their assessment.
  5. And being cynical...IS going to save your life should that happen? It's arguable that this, and pretty much all of 1968 to come, served as a veritable Pandora's Box for those of us coming along later - thus we, sadly, had had the bar lowered compared to in 1963. I do wonder if the irresistible urge to never forget such tragedies, and so strongly at that, in fact contributes to the larger culture of cynicism that persists now.
  6. He has a point though; if, say, New Hampshire was also the state where men also most often used condoms, whereas men in other states are more prone to not using them...then this study here only presents a slice of the whole picture.
  7. Happy birthday!
  8. Re: Michigan - I have a hard time believing that. Either that or I just live in one of the wetter parts of the state. EDIT: I do. My area puts Ann Arbor to shame as far as that goes. Google "Bay City bars" and you'll probably come up with a few results saying that Bay City is the city with the most bars per capita in the nation. However, I can't find a fact-based source to statistically back that up, and the one source that would seem to debunk it seems to be basing its list mainly on major cities (which Bay City wouldn't quite qualify for).
  9. One other thing...
  10. Thus the flaw in trying to turn EVERY trilogy into a major franchise?
  11. Similar to what Cole said, it's striking how Dan's described as being so shallow, only to leave a break-up letter that shows that he did care a little bit more underneath the surface. (Or...does it? ) Nice work.
  12. God dammit, Lions... All you had to do today to stay on top of the division was win. Was it that hard?
  13. So, remember that Michigan case that I posted a blog for back in March? Judge Milton Friedman, who presided over the case, is set to issue his ruling tomorrow. The hope is that he'll strike Michigan's gay marriage ban down as unconstitutional. Seven of Michigan's 83 counties are so hopeful, in fact, that they're prepared to begin issuing same-sex marriage licenses immediately should the ban be so stricken. EDIT: Judge Friedman stated: "I'm in the middle. I have to decide this as a matter of law. I intend to do so." He will issue a written opinion following a trial that is to begin...February 25, just over four months away. Four months away - after he also stated that the issue should be "expedited". Really?
  14. Can't possibly foresee all the consequences, can't be bothered to care about consequences, or is so ignorant as to think there will ultimately be no consequences??
  15. Happy birthday!
  16. Thanks for all the birthday wishes! No such luck, I'm afraid. Oh well, there's always next year - or, before this time next year even...
  17. In many (most) places (not including Nifty), sexual activity among younger teens (like 13, 14) and pre-teens will get flagged as kiddy porn. Just a thought to keep in mind.
  18. Happy birthday!
  19. And speaking of "Same Love"...this happened not too long ago: Radio DJ Records Angry Caller’s Homophobic Rant Against Macklemore It's worth noting that South Bend is home to Notre Dame.
  20. First there was "Same Love", and now there's a second LGBT anthem that's been making the rounds. "Brave", the current single from singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, was co-written with fun.'s Jack Antonoff - and Sara's inspiration was seeing one of her close friends struggle with coming out. This article from The Advocate talks a little more about it, and also includes both an interview with the two, as well as a lyric video for the song: http://www.advocate.com/arts-entertainment/music/2013/04/24/sara-bareilles-wants-see-you-be-brave The music video, on YouTube, doesn't follow the "coming out" theme - but this song, unlike "Same Love", is written generally enough to appeal to more than just us. Still - not one, but two LGBT anthems on the radio this year - how about that?

    Chapter 1

Well now that was quite a surprise. Very nicely done!
  22. When I saw the Thriller/Suspense tag, though, I thought they might run into danger at some point. Still, this is certainly thought-provoking in a few different ways. (Things that make you go hmmmmm....)

    Chapter 1

I think I would've liked to see just a little bit more to this, but it still makes for a nice read.
  24. As far as historical "fudges" go...there are things much much worse than adding CAP characters as additional survivors.
  25. I really hope you are right about this.
