Lots of stories posted by our hosted/proms this week. Have to agree - the Hosted Story background is a great idea, but I can't believe I have to wait twelve months to have my complete 2014 GA calendar.

“Is that really the gift you’re giving him?” Jarren shook his head at his wife’s annoying persistence. She had berated him over his choice of birthday gift for their son, Mirkel, for the past two weeks. “What else am I supposed to give him? Today is his sixteenth birthday, and you know the law just as well as I do.” “I do Husband, but that-” Jaxa pointed at the gift in the corner “-is not exactly following ‘the law’.” “So certain events have meant that I have had to make arrangements that

I'm not really sure weird covers it. A friend of mine at work (who I have known for about fifteen years), gave me a Harry Potter tea-cosy. Now I have nothing against HP, but neither Brett nor I drink tea. Never have, probably never will. She has never seen me even drink tea! Not quite sure what she was thinking

Given the size of the family we've pretty much given up on the whole giving presents to everybody (for example I have 20odd cousins, my cousins have 15 kids between them, I have 26 aunts and uncles, and then most of my parents aunts and uncles are still alive). The only people who I really exchange gifts with now is Brett, my parents and his parents. With all of my cousins we do a kind of Secret Santa and just pick one name from a hat and buy something for about £20. Brett's parents bought me a quality set of chef's knives, Mum bought me clothes and Dad gave me book tokens (yeah, he has the imagination of a goldfish, but at least it means I can hit the Boxing Day sales with a vengeance). As for what hubby got me, let's just say wouldn't you all like to know (now just where did I put that strawberry-flavoured body paint?)

In the UK, generally "supper" referred to an evening meal when the main meal of the day had been eaten early in the afternoon. So at Christmas, when the main meal is usually eaten around 1PM, for those families who then have a light meal (perhaps sandwiches with the leftover turkey) in the evening that would be called "supper". Though until the 20th century, it was common for the main meal of the day to be eaten between noon and 2PM, and then for a second smaller meal to be served in the evening; however, with the advent of "lunch" or "luncheon", the main meal was pushed to the evening and "supper" of old disappeared. In some parts of the world, "supper" meant an informal family meal, usually just the family you live with and with none of the pzzazz. "Dinner" on the other hand, was a more formal affair or for a celebration, eaten in the dining room, with napkins and tableclothes, using the best plates and cutlery, perhaps even with invited guests. (I think is the distinction you are referring to Celethiel). However, these "distinctions" have died out for the most part, and (rightly or wrongly) the two words are now used interchangeably. Nowadays, it is common (in Scotland) for fish and chips to be referred to as a "fish supper", and the meal eaten on Burns Night (consisting of haggis, neaps and tatties) is referred to as a "Burns Supper". A number of clubs and organisations offer members a "light supper" at the conclusion of evening events when it often past the usual dining hours. A meal consisting of chicken, chips, peas, onions and gravy can be referred to as a "chicken supper" in Ireland.

And I had always thought of you as a gifted author who only wrote sexy scenes when they were needed, now I know better Keep up the great writing Cia. Apparently Michael just happened to be reading one of the explicit scenes at the time. It was just bad timing. If it had been two minutes earlier then there wouldn't be a problem. Bit of good news: common sense has prevailed (kind of)! I've been told that given there's only a few days of term left and that Michael wasn't handing out the story for other kids to read, his headteacher has decided not to record Michael's three day vacation as a formal suspension. However, James has been told that Michael will have to leave his Kindle at home in future unless it only contains stories suitable for minors, as if there is a repeat occurrence he will not get off so lightly.

Well a friend of mine, James, phoned me earlier today saying he needed to see me. His 15 year old son Michael, (who is gay and out) has been suspended from school for bringing "smut" onto school premises, even though the school year ends on Friday - "smut" was his teacher's words not mine. Needless to say I was shocked. Not quite so much by the fact that he is into porn at 15, it was the surprise that he would be stupid enough to take a porn magazine to school (at least that was what I assumed the school had meant by "smut"). Thankfully, it transpired that Michael had simply been caught reading a book on his Kindle. Slight overreaction on the school's part or what? But, to paraphrase Frank Sinatra, the best was yet to come. James handed me Michael's Kindle and, knowing I read a lot of gay fiction, asked me if I would read the story and let him know what I thought about it. I thought James was probably going about it the wrong way in not getting Michael's side of the story, but since he and his wife have been told that they need to see the headteacher tomorrow to discuss the situation or Michael will not be allowed back to school after Xmas, James wanted my opinion. Well there I was expecting it be some jack off story from Nifty or maybe Literotica, however, it transpired that the smut was a filthy book written by a depraved, cruel, sadistic, sick and twisted author. The book was Pricolici by Alicia Nordwell Thankfully, I was able to reassure my friend that the story is far from smut, and obviously none of the school's faculty had bothered reading the story before passing judgement. Although James thinks the school have overreacted in the circumstances (and to a certain extent so do I), I can also see it from the school's perspective as they do have a policy on not allowing material of a sexual nature to be brought onto school premises. The school could have simply told Michael to stay off for the rest of the week and not record it as a formal suspension, but I know it's easy to sometimes forget the spirit of these policies and only focus on the wording.

Me missed blog chat as me have had no internet Though midnight here in London would have been far too late in the day (erm . . . night) for me to participate live. The idea sounds great, and hopefully I'll participate in the next one (just hoping it's slightly earlier, say around 5pm EST). That's one of the things I do love with this site - always looking for new things to try. Keep it up.

I must have dozed off this week - congrats on the promotion Renee Nice to see our Hosted and Proms have been so busy this week. Really must get some writing done myself.
