Thank you so much for this. Yay!! A fellow Mo Dao Zu Shi fan! I love, love that novel. The author (MXTX) is someone I look up to. I find her work very captivating, so I've ended up reading a lot of it. She does silent angst in such a beautiful way, and her characters are quite impressive. As for this story, I might call it a bastardized version of xianxia. I haven't stayed as true to Xianxia traditions, choosing to create a different mixed world. It's been a challenge to remember that I don't want to pull the traditions in as much and I truly felt that pressure at this chapter because weddings are so full color and traditions. I'm hoping readers enjoy it as is. You've caught me in a season of ancient times. I'm all like my characters are riding horses right now and wearing robes. I do miss writing Modern Stories. Thank you for asking this, I got lazy on description here, and will edit it by this weekend. The idea is that Jihan's family being merchants could find themselves having followed the wrong court officials, and be part of a corrupt plot that ends in an inquiry at royal court. If any evidence to show corruption appears then they get convicted and lose all their business or lives, depending on the seriousness of the evidence. I'll make this clearer, currently working on chapter 4 and will get to the edit Saturday or Sunday. Thank you.

Jihan built a strong business in an effort to protect him and Andiya from their father, who is a man he can't really touch as he associates himself with powerful people. It places him in a very difficult spot especially when Duke Silver gets into his life. That is a very huge compliment! I feel the pressure right now. Hahaha. Yass!!!! Doing a little dance....hahaha. Very true about ambition. Jihan's thoughts are definitely for let's-not-break-what's-working-for-us, his Pa is like, um, no, let's climb the steep mountain...and maybe try to balance on the tip.
