Nice job of moving the plot along. I’m getting shades of dissociative identity disorder here with Jeremy (formerly known as split personality). The first time we woke up, he knew he was gay. The second time, he didn’t seem to be. So it could be a personality that was created in order to survive his childhood and teen years until he could escape. Then again, I grew up watching soap operas, where split personalities, amnesia and evil twins were the norm, lol. So it could be that he injured his brain more when he hit his head, and the additional swelling affected his long-term memory. We’ll see how it goes. I was surprised Brenda knew nothing about the construction accident. They live in a small town and it had to be all over the news. I was also surprised she didn’t fuss at him for not telling her when it happened, so she could support him. I guess they aren’t close best friends??

1. I’m glad we knew Blake’s prognosis before the chapter ended. His parents turned out to be nuttier than expected! It’ll be interesting to see if his father is punished for his actions. 2. I thought the reason Craig’s mom gave for coming to the hospital was weak. Craig had already told her what happened. Perhaps you forgot? If not, her just saying she was worried would’ve sufficed. 3. Ty seems the most mature of the bunch. It’s telling that he and Seth are best friends, yet both withheld a lot about their lives from each other. 4. Also telling: Seth’s mom didn’t even text to see where he was or if he was alright. Looking forward to how you handle that family dynamic.

I thought about this, too, but what we don’t know, and what Asa isn’t telling, is what impact healing others has on him. There’s a series here on GA that has healers, and every time they heal someone they shorten their lifespan until they just drop dead. I hope that’s not the case for Asa.

Like @Rkench I think it’s the Conte providing blood as well. This actually plays right into his hands, as he wants Kavan to stay. And thank goodness for the Perditaj’s gift, if Kavan still has it — I was worried about him getting stuck in the other realm. Nice validation of Kavan never having been 100% human. I wonder if 1.) the female who almost killed Kavan knew exactly where he would appear, and 2.) are the rogue vamps made up of only women? Not gonna lie, that would be kinda cool.

I thought Connor and Dakota lived states apart from each other. It wasn’t clear to me that “home” for them was the same place! So this chapter was a shock, to say the least, lol. What state is this, again? 😑 Based on the dreams Connor and Dakota had, we know their kids are two wolf cubs and a fox cub. So one more kid to come … I had assumed it was Jonas. No one has mentioned it, but I was disturbed by Robin’s comments at the beginning of the chapter. “It’s none of my business what you and Naiche do. You’re my brother, and I love you.” Then turning to Naiche, he added, “And I love you too, Yázhí.” and “Well, when Naiche mentioned you licking him, I just assumed…” Robin looked uncomfortable, then quickly added, “You know I won’t judge you, and as I said, I love you both, no matter what.” Naiche is 5. Robin would allow Dakota to molest a child? That’s disturbing.

I don’t understand the resistance of Seth’s mom to him moving to a place where people put him first. He couldn’t stay at Aunt Marie’s. He wasn’t allowed to go live with his dad. I can only think her pride got in the way. What a trash human.

I don't mean to offend anyone by saying this, but to me, Lindsay's reason for what she's doing is underwhelming. I don't know what I expected to be behind Lindsay stealing the bag of super-steroids, but I certainly thought it would be a bigger plot point. Like, a major subplot, or an explanation for what's going on with the wolves. I also thought the focus on the bag was weird, because the wolves can just grow more plants. Anywhoo, the wolves have done enough damage and almost-murder to warrant the war the first-years are talking about waging. Does Rafe ... not know anything about mates?? This remains one of my fave series on the site, and I usually avoid teen stories, lol. Excellent world-building!

This is an interesting story, but I have questions about this world’s “rules.” I don’t understand why Seamus has to die for Connor to take over the pack. His father is still alive and has the Wolf Council. Why can’t Seamus join that council or the Council of Shifters? Wolf-born pups. A year-old pup shifts to a teenage human — that means they learn how to read and write and do math and learn history, etc. starting when they’re 13? They’re emotionally stunted as well, yes? Breeding: Why don’t unmated shifters visit other packs to look for mates and expand the bloodlines? Wyatt + Connor: I guess I’m old fashioned, but the possibility of a 14-year-old dating an 18-year-old grosses me out. Connor has experienced a lot in his young life and puberty may have him looking 25 in a few months, but he’s still only 14. I hope they turn out to be friends.

Best chapter in the whole damn story. I agree with Rusty on one point: it’s a mistake for Matty to think he’s in love with him. Matty said he’s been in love with Rusty for a long time, but he’s had a CRUSH on Rusty for a long time. He really doesn’t know Rusty because the guy hasn’t let him. For chrissakes, they can’t even admit they wear costumes around campus! Could Matty fall in love with Rusty? Of course. But both need to grow into a level of maturity neither has shown. Rusty needs therapy. Matty needs life experience and time.

I predict Stacy will go after Seth with a knife, or attack him while he’s driving. Nekkid photos be damned, she’s unhinged. Her brother is everything she’s not — smart, good looking, respected, with a bright future ahead. It’s getting harder for me to read scenes with Blake in them. There isn’t much character development other than his parents disowned him and he wants sex all the time. He’s almost a stereotype.

I put off reading this chapter because I didn’t want it to end. This series is one of the best on the site, and you should be proud of what you produced. I‘m hoping that, like jdonley75, you revisit the characters in vignettes when it strikes your fancy. Rest well, fine writer. I’ll miss you and these characters.

I’m glad Seth’s mother showed her preference for Stacy in front of everyone else. Seth hasn’t been treated equally at home for a long time, and I don’t think that’s going to change. Stacy should be admitted to psych care and sedated. She and Seth will never have a relationship. He should move in with Marie and Steve as well, and his mom should give them money for his care. This story is crazy, but absolutely believable. Edited to add: Steve should get a tetanus shot. (I started to type “rabies.”)

Emmett is the youngest, but he also knows a lot about shapeshifter lore. I wonder if he’s training to be the pack historian. Also, how does he handle knowing his kin will live for centuries while he will die in 90 years or less?

What happened to his never-ending water flask? Also, it amuses me that Beckett doesn’t realize he’s stopped thinking of this adventure as a dream.

Just the opposite, actually. 😔 Emmett is starting puberty and he’s only 11. That means he’s 100% human. Shifters experience puberty late, and when they do, it’s quick.

I’m focused on the fact that Seamus appears to know when he’s gonna die. How does he know that? And how does he know Connor will be the alpha? Does Connor have a choice? What if he didn’t want to be alpha? I agree with@Clancy59 on Danny — damn, it’s like his mom doesn’t really matter now that he has Connor. On the flip side, it appears to be easy for Carol to leave her son. Are familial bonds not as strong as pack ones? As for Ronin, nope, don’t trust him. Wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually challenged for the alpha role. I think @gmc has the right idea here:

“Dakota hugged the boy as he wondered how Robin and Jonas would feel about the secret he and Naiche shared. Even Shinálí might turn his back on them if he knew.” I’m confused. How could Shinálí not know? I need to go back to remind myself how long Dakota has lived with the old man. Edited to add: He’s been with his grandfather since he was 4. So how could the man not know?

Painfully good chapter. The siblings stood together as their fool of a father met his just end. Nothing mom can do to make it better. Are we nearing the end of the series, or the end of this book in the series? Just wanna plan my mourning accordingly. I need to know if it should be sprinkled with hope, lol.

I’m worried. Once this story ends, is the series done? We don’t know how powerful Kalian and Wyn can still become. Talon seems on the brink of death. Wren is … whatever he is.

I’m fascinated by how you play the concepts of bloodsong and one childe against each other with Konstantin — his beliefs vs. the reality. Either way it goes, dude’s in for heartbreak. I appreciate Caspian’s selfishness! When you’ve lived as long as he has, things like mouthy baby vamps and bloodsongs are mere irritants.

Realistically, Craig should probably move away. Graduate high school and maybe play football in Europe? If his family doesn’t disown him, that is. Seth could stay and, as another commenter said, learn to stand up for himself. And take up martial arts so he can defend himself. Oh, and therapy for everybody lol. Roni better apologize for her role in this.
