    At least you did have brothers. Rob is the older brother I wanted and needed. Someone to tease me out of taking myself too seriously, and be a protector against the bullies. Although to be embarrassed and have things out of my control is my worst nightmare. Sorry about the emoticon.

    Nevø, onkel and fætter are only some words for male family members. Farbror, morbror, farfar and morfar are other options. Not to mention svigerfar, svigersøn and svoger for the in-laws. But fætter is normally a blood relation, since you'd share grandparents. Don't remind me of all the possible spin-offs here, I have a hard enough time arriving at the Prom. For Rob-at-college I recommend Meta.

    Yes I did look up a few relevant universities on the east coast but then Rob suddenly decided to go to California. JAR took over after that, lol. Or at least he gave his version of Rob in Cali, although he was quite sad about him being straight, lol.

    Yeah we tend to forget how it was - and I guess still is in large parts of the world. That's why I like reading the stories by AC Benus and ColumbusGuy and other people who portray the reality of that time. So we can appreciate what we have achieved and hope for more in the future. There are so many parallels in the fights for equal rights and equal opportunity by women, black people and gay people, and we have to remember what we take for granted now was won by those courageous souls. Proms remain a mystery to me.

    Well, a children's hospital should certainly be focused on being as unscary as possible. Luckily Michael is used to hospitals so he'll take it in his stride. Unless they don't let him go home asap, then we may get to see the whiny imp.

    Thanks, Lux, I love the idea of a web of family slowly building. I'm glad the chapter warmed your heart - your recent Running for Home chapter did the same for me. Patrick and Peter are strong together, so as long as Michael is OK, nothing will destroy them.

    Better hungry birds than angry birds, right? ;-) Finally something where we differ, I like using emoticons. But I shall restrict myself. I think AC and I discussed the introverted / introvert issue, but I can't recall why I settled on the latter. I'm glad you can see yourself in Nelson, he has part of me too. Yup, I definitely prefer hungry birds too.

    Do you have any inspirational or comfort snacks or drinks which keep you going when you write? I tend to imagine you cuddled up in a warm blanket with a hot drink and some fruit or bread sticks on the table next to you. Oh, and what I like about your stories is that they are real and unsentimental and honest.

    I knew Ben and Bryan's verbal face-slapping would come back to bite them both in the ass. I feel the opposite of Graeme, Audra should be the one trying to mend the relationship and not just with Tiramisu but with a proper apology for her words earlier. Bryan will most likely be fine with Ben being gay or bi, but he'll be pissed about his friend lying to him. But maybe I'm wrong, after all Audra doesn't seem very accepting either, so why wouldn't she marry a bigot. For a moment when I read the title of the script I thought you were having Ben star in Gary's (Headstall) story Treading Water. Ben would be perfect for the role of Jared too.

    Thanks, Gary. I love how you mention the special gift issue and that it makes sense to you. It's been in my story notes for a long time. Peter was quite clever to work it out, and he's right about her ability to soothe pain. LOL, yeah my muse has been working overtime - perhaps all those pitchforks scared hir. I could do with another good dose of those pills to get more writing done, both at work and here. So glad you enjoyed the chapter.

    LOL, yes I think all your prodding was effective - or at least it made me post the chapter faster, rather than wait for Valentine's Day. Not sure about the ward namesake, but I assume it was Flamingo? You're right about Patrick being done with lonely grieving and ready to hear memories of his mum from her co-workers.

    LOL, LadyDe, those threats of pitchforks etc are certainly motivational. I feel bad about making you all waiting, but I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Makes it worth all my hard work. Patrick hearing nice things of his mum was something I've been waiting to write for a while. He certainly deserves it.

    LOL, tim - yes I know, I've been woefully behind on this story. I blame all the great writers on GA putting out so many must-read stories for me to read and comment on. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter.

    Thanks, jay. It's nice to know the story has been missed, even if it makes me feel even more about not getting anything written. But I'm back on track and going strong with the next chapter. As you surmise Fiona will finally make an appearance. Yup Michael is doing well, and they'll take good care of him.

    Thanks, Fae, I love how all my readers are so happy to see a new chapter. You've all been waiting so patiently and deserved a nice treat. I'm delighted you liked the hints about Patrick's mum being treasured at work. It was quite an emotional moment for him to acknowledge other people have mourned and missed his parents.

    Tak min ven, it's good to know you could enter into the story flow without any trouble. I can't believe it's been more than six months since I last updated PPC. I promise all will be well with Michael, even if his dads are anxious. I don't want to face the pitchforks and torches from my readers if I let anything go wrong. Yes, you're right, Fiona is up next.

    LOL, I don't know - but it wasn't on purpose. Glad it made you write some more review. The HIV virus is actually quite vulnerable and cannot survive long outside the body, I think. It needs direct transmission to a wound, so if you have cold sores or bite your lip / cheek before getting semen in your mouth, that might cause infection. But intercourse is the real danger.

    Better late than never The revisions were minor stuff, typos and a few changes to the hospital schedule described. But I'm glad they made you read and review. You'll have to visit Scandinavia or else go to Washington State which has the highest proportion of descendants of Nordic immigrants. They even have a museum about them.

    Well, I guess it's not possible for a hot cowboy top to admit to his much younger sister that he was raped by three guys. But ultimately, they might both have been better off, if he had. She could have put all her anger into hating Eric and perhaps even helping him get revenge. I don't blame Travis for fucking those ranchers for money. He has a clear goal and they are offering a good deal. Shame Ben came along before he achieved it, but hopefully he'll help out once he realizes. As for love - well, we can hope Ben has the guts. Right now I doubt it, but you're a good enough writer to make it happen.

    Wow, I thought Audra was the nice understanding sister, but she's utterly deluded. That little speech destroyed her credibility with Ben and us, majorly. I'm gonna love seeing her face if Ben decides to come out as bi or gay. On the other hand, how can Ben expect her to know him, when he's been hiding from himself and his family for years.

    I hope Travis mends any cracks in his armor fast, and I hope he tans Katy's hide if she's behind the reporter turning up. I almost liked Curtis in this scene, for catching the snoop and calling BS. Ben deserves every ouch he gets.

    Aaarrrghhh Ben is such an idiot. Why can't he see the disappointment in Bryant is due to the lack of honesty in his best friend and not because he's bi or gay. And then he sets Katy firmly on the black-mail path. I shall stop feeling sorry for him soon.
