Way easier said than done!

Can I go there next? Pretty please?
-
Have you been in my recipe box???

Tried something new today. When making the fruit for an apple cobbler, I used dark brown sugar instead of white. Can we say caramel apple cobbler???

Sorry Mike but you have that wrong. It's relatives you cannot choose. We most definitely choose who we call family. You and tim are family to us. Send tim our love.

Lol I guess I was not clear. I asked my kid to boil some potatoes for salad. Instead of cooking 2 or 3 large ones, she cooked the whole (5 lb) bag. She does not care for potatoes so hubby and I had salad coming out the ears. Last time hubby wanted pasta salad I said sure, you cook the pasta while I chop the veggies. Again, instead of cooking for two, he cooked the entire 1 lb of pasta.

Warning: Rant imminent! 1) Ignoring my texts and phone calls will not make the reason I am reaching out go away. 2) that double yellow line defines my side of the road from your side. 3) crawling up on my bumper will NOT make me exceed the speed limit. Don't like being behind me and traveling the limit? Feel free to pass as soon as it is legal and safe. 4) Those funny shaped red signs that say "STOP" are not merely a suggestion, nor are those hanging lights that alternate between red and green. 5) Potato salad CAN be made in less than 5 lb batches. Same applies to pasta salad, you don't need to cook the whole pound box. Rant over. We now return to sending love to tim.

He needs to do what is best for him. Send him my love.

Ummm, what is one to do on the Florida shore? Would they prefer the black flies from the horse country in the center of the state? Their bite may not itch but they hurt!

Kid loaned her pickup to her housemate the other day so she could take her kayak to the lake. Apparently she didn't like the tire touching her kayak, so took it AND THE JACK out and put it in the garage. Today Wings is towing a pony to a big show ( I'm driving a second trailer) and she calls me in a panic. Flat on a major interstate. So I swing that way with a jack but my spare will not fit her truck. Fords and Dodges don't play nice like that. We jack it up and remove the now shredded tire, and roust her guy out of bed to bring the spare out. Hopefully he has the sense not to stop for breakfast before delivering the tire.
-
Sigh. What good does a spare tire do if it is left in the garage?

Unless bitten or requested.

Hi @Gary L. We are an eclectic bunch here but we don't bite...much

@CassieQ And grab a small notebook and document the weird happenings! Days, times, particulars! Costs a buck at the dollar store but will be invaluable should the creep escalate!

Ladies and gents, PLEASE if the opportunity ever comes up, tell your friends and acquaintances to give horse trailers extra room! We leave larger stopping distance for a reason! We have 1200 pound animals balancing on what amounts to 1 sq foot of floor when you add up all 4 feet. Cutting in front of us because "there is plenty of room" then slowing forces us to brake harder than is good for the horse. Last night I was on an emergency transport at 1 am with a colicky and heavily sedated horse when an idiot decided to pass me on the interstate, cut in front leaving less room than he should have, and then braked hard to get back down to the speed limit. I then had to listen to hubby curse at the guy for 5 miles. Not that I wasn't thinking the same things, but hey, why should I have to hear it if the idiot could not?

Ok, it is now icky-er. Tripple digits. But barn chores done, horse move done. I can now hide in the AC doing house stuff the rest of the day!
-
Ok, this is just... icky! 6:30 am and the heat index is already 98!

That's sort of the point. They are trying to prove the animals should not be in captivity because if released they cannot fend for themselves. The fact that releasing animals totally unsuited for release is UNETHICAL seems to escape members of "People for Ethical Treatment of Animals "

Another county Faire in the books. Anyone familiar with 4H knows that the animals we bring to the Faire, while most are labeled "livestock" are in reality well loved members of the family. We had PETA protesting on the sides of the road leading to the Faire again this year. They were better behaved this year. Last year they came back in the middle of the night and set the goats and sheep loose befor anyone could stop them. That's why our horse girls all camp in the horse tent every year. Lol lots harder to set a horse loose if her kid is sleeping in front of the stall door!

I so confused. Approaching a traffic light controlled intersection, red my side. Patrolman in middle waving me on. No accident visible, no construction, light is functioning normally. Ok, I follow instruction and proceed thru the RED light. Light changes, he stops traffic in the now GREEN lanes and waves the now RED side road out. Yesterday a guy passes me using a left turn only lane, then stops for a count of 5 at the next light, then proceeds thru the RED light crossing 6 lanes. Admittedly @ 5 am there was no traffic at the time. Have I gone color blind? Did they change the rules and I am not aware?
-
Well that went smoother than anticipated. The herd ( 6 horses, a mini donkey and a pigmy goat) is at the county fair safe and sound, with no idiots. Last year a guy was expecting me to stop unloading the trailer and back up out of his way so he can unload.

I have no clue why she separated him. I thought she would want to know how he was reacting and passed on the info. This guy has a history of breaking out when angry or bored. Lol I used to be on a first name basis with the night dispatcher in town when he would lead a breakout and walkabout at 3 am.

New Idiocy Update: The smoke alarms were still ringing when the lady who called me @ 5 am yesterday arrived this morning. Instead of calling the barn owner, or going ballistic on the barn hand, she called me again at 4:45 ! My alarm does not ring till 5. What part of "I don't work there any more, I have no authority, and I AM AN HOUR DRIVE AWAY" does she not understand??? Ok, then while I am at the barn 6 am today, another boarder decided to turn her horse out into a currently unused private field. I have no idea why, nor do I care. What I do care about is that her horse is not a happy camper by himself in this new to him field. He is pacing the fence, hollering for his field buddies and generally working himself into a lather. I have known this horse for 20 years. ( he is a senior citizen at 26) I am very well aware that he will only stay alone for so long before he breaks a fence and goes back towards his regular field looking for his buddies. So I go point out to the woman who bought him last year what he is up to, and get told to butt out and MYOB. My response? "Hope your horse doesn't hurt himself when he breaks the fence. Enjoy your game of catch the pissed off horse!"

Idiocy update. Seems the barn hand changed the batteries in all the detectors last night, and the unit in question started to intermittently freak out. Has happened to us befor. Dust happens big time in a barn, and if you disturb it while changing batteries it freaks the little electronic brain out. A good cleaning with a can of compressed air solves the issue usually, with an occasional replacement of the unit sometimes needed. When I ran maintenance, I used to give the hands the compressed air with the new batteries and instructions to clean them in the process. One would think common sense would have dictated further maintenance last night or at least removing the battery till time allowed. SMH
