The lack of water is just as destructive. The reservoir by the barn is so low you can see the stumps of trees removed during the construction 20 yrs ago, some 100 ft off the usual shoreline. We are under red flag restrictions meaning no outdoor fires of any sort, including bbq's. Fire hazard is not what you northerners dealt with not too long ago, but our forest fire service has been hopping this fall.

Does anyone have a friendly poltergeist haunting their house?

Was 50/50 in our house. 2 kids, a boy and a girl. -
That's cause all the little feathered freaks have come down to Jersey for the winter! They are everywhere, and get nasty if you get too close. Spent 5 minutes when 20 of them (I counted) slowly crossed the road single file.

Umm...BECAUSE they are intelligent?

I REALLY don't understand people at all! At a riding clinic today. Expensive buy in for my clients, but we figured the added knowledge the trainer and I walked away with in addition to the riders would be worth it. The lady "teaching" has not actually taught the riders anything, just pointed at an obstacle and said do it, try again etc. So far no advice on HOW to do it. If I was paying these prices, I would be livid. Gig was advertised as "lunch included". Dude pulls up and delivers 3 plain pizzas. One slice each for the 12 riders, everyone else can buy a slice. Ok, 3 pies x 8 slices per pie, 24 slices total. So 12 for the riders, 2 for the 2 "teachers", leaving 10 slices for the 5 trainers, several trailer drivers, and assorted siblings to buy. Thankfully I pack our lunches. Today we have cold fried chicken, grapes, garlic basil cheddar cheese and crackers. YES, I believe in comfort when traveling. You should see me camping! Then we have one lady walking around in shorts, a short sleeve.shirt, hat scarf and a down vest! It's 72*. Umm...you might be warmer if you cover your arms and legs! WTF is she going to do when it gets cold???

Just heard from my brother in ft Meyers. Said lots of wind and rain but no damage. He will get back to me after work ( works for the water company) when he has a better grip on the area in general. He did say he still prefers playing tag in hurricane season to winters up here.

Ours do things like freeze the meat I buy for a specific dish I am fixing the next day or turning off the dishwasher half way thru the cycle so they can shower I guess. Edit to add they never restart the machine! Half washed dishes when I go back ! -
Tad crazy here. Nothing new about that. Have had horse moves every day for the last two weeks. This is barn hopping season! Glad.to hear everyone is ok. How about you @kbois? News says they are trying to drown you again.

When we bought our house hubby thought I was being overly cautious in insisting on high ground. During Sandy in 2012, high water wiped out about half my neighborhood, including a house he liked better than this one but I flat out refused cause it was only 5 ft above high water mark. Sandy washed that one away. Water came up to our property line l, but house was a good 30 ft higher. Didn't even get any water in the basement. When you go inland, insist on a hill! Inland can flood too. Look at Greenville TN.

But you are safe! The rest can be dealt with. PIA, yes, but sure beats the alternative!

Way easier said than done!

Can I go there next? Pretty please?

Have you been in my recipe box???

Tried something new today. When making the fruit for an apple cobbler, I used dark brown sugar instead of white. Can we say caramel apple cobbler???

Sorry Mike but you have that wrong. It's relatives you cannot choose. We most definitely choose who we call family. You and tim are family to us. Send tim our love.

Lol I guess I was not clear. I asked my kid to boil some potatoes for salad. Instead of cooking 2 or 3 large ones, she cooked the whole (5 lb) bag. She does not care for potatoes so hubby and I had salad coming out the ears. Last time hubby wanted pasta salad I said sure, you cook the pasta while I chop the veggies. Again, instead of cooking for two, he cooked the entire 1 lb of pasta.

Warning: Rant imminent! 1) Ignoring my texts and phone calls will not make the reason I am reaching out go away. 2) that double yellow line defines my side of the road from your side. 3) crawling up on my bumper will NOT make me exceed the speed limit. Don't like being behind me and traveling the limit? Feel free to pass as soon as it is legal and safe. 4) Those funny shaped red signs that say "STOP" are not merely a suggestion, nor are those hanging lights that alternate between red and green. 5) Potato salad CAN be made in less than 5 lb batches. Same applies to pasta salad, you don't need to cook the whole pound box. Rant over. We now return to sending love to tim.

Ummm, what is one to do on the Florida shore? Would they prefer the black flies from the horse country in the center of the state? Their bite may not itch but they hurt!

Kid loaned her pickup to her housemate the other day so she could take her kayak to the lake. Apparently she didn't like the tire touching her kayak, so took it AND THE JACK out and put it in the garage. Today Wings is towing a pony to a big show ( I'm driving a second trailer) and she calls me in a panic. Flat on a major interstate. So I swing that way with a jack but my spare will not fit her truck. Fords and Dodges don't play nice like that. We jack it up and remove the now shredded tire, and roust her guy out of bed to bring the spare out. Hopefully he has the sense not to stop for breakfast before delivering the tire.
-
Sigh. What good does a spare tire do if it is left in the garage?
-
Unless bitten or requested.

Hi @Gary L. We are an eclectic bunch here but we don't bite...much

@CassieQ And grab a small notebook and document the weird happenings! Days, times, particulars! Costs a buck at the dollar store but will be invaluable should the creep escalate!
