If only that's how it worked, but any one who spends time at a stable knows these simple truths: Flies can get into cars/trucks with all windows closed. Fly paper, while it does trap many, grabs more people than flies Once into a car, flies will never leave voluntarily, short of setting off an insecticide bomb inside Smell of said bomb lingers for weeks, but does not deter more flies from moving in.

The weather geeks are cursing at us today. They are using the 4 letter "s" word!

Courage and bravery is not a lack of fear, its being afraid and moving forward, doing what needs doing, inspite of the fear. You my friend, show courage every single day.

Had to put my horse down last night, and the kid seems to think i should have tried harder. If I seem a tad off, that's why.

Kids! Just when they grow up and get fun again they move out!

I use yarn left over from other projects to knit fingerless gloves. No real pattern needed, just comfortably snug k1p1 strip 10 rows at the wrist, change up needles 1 size and knit 1 row p 1 row to needed body length then k1p1 10 rows and bind off. Sew side seam leaving gap for your thumb. No dividers between fingers make em more comfy when typing, knitting, etc.

On a not very surprising note, I ran into the gal that handles our feed order at a show recently. She started by saying how much the feed shop misses me, then said how feed order is never in on time, never accurate, and that they frequently need to send a second delivery out to fix things. My reply was something on the lines of sorryvit has gotten harder for you, but oh well, quess boss will have to get used to more delivery fees.

The real bitch is I have been at this barn for 20 years, and know what a great place it has always been up until last spring when boss hired a hand that used to work the thoroughbred track. Key words are used to. If he were so great he would still be there.
-
Those peeps have already gotten an anonymous call, but I have not yet seen anyone investigating.
-
I had been the barn manager for more than 10 years. I quit 3 months back when the latest batch of twits decided they didn't need to listen to me. I understand it is hard to find legal labor willing to shovel manure, but let's be reasonable.

I started looking for a new barn this morning.

Warning, rant ahead. If you are not in the mood, please skip! How the #&*! can you run a business in which the employees refuse to speak to each other? My horse has had digestive issues for the last 3 weeks. Because I didn't trust the stable hands to properly medicate my old man, I have been up at 5 every morning to medicate him before breakfast, and my daughter has been there every evening to do the dinner dose. When asked not to turn him out in the am, I would do so when meds were done, they ignored me and turned him out 4 days out of 5, requiring me to go out and bring him into a confined area to medicate him. Ok, strike one. coming into week two, I discussed with the barn owner what the horse was dealing with, whether it could be contagious ( not according to the vet) and asked at that time when the last time the worming had occurred, when it was due next and what worming meds were used last time. I specifically told him DO NOT WORM HIM until we get a grip on what the issues are. A few days later I thought better of verbal instructions with these idiots, and sent a text to boss man and all 4 barn hands, including the one out on disability right now. The response I got was "Oops, sorry, we wormed him this morning." Strike two. We finished the second round of antibiotics Monday morning, and my daughter told one of the hands Bo could now go out when ever he was done eating each morning. I don't know which hand she told. Tuesday I told hand #2 when I got there around 10 am and found him still inside. On Wednesday I get there at 9, and yep, horse is still inside, so I tell hand #3. This morning I get a call around 11am, can horse go out? I told at least 2 of the 3 active hands, assuming Wings told one of them a second time. Strike three, you are out. And my family wonders why I quit this job, trying to manage a barn worked by these idiots!

Congrats!

Before they either laugh or arrest you.

I tend to agree with @kbois with possibly one other exception. Was the calendar bought as a fundraiser by someone not into the whole Advent thing? If that is the case, kudos for supporting the fundraiser, enjoy the choco any way you like.

Seen on a Tee-Shirt today: Be nice to old folks. The older we get the less the words "life in prison" are a deterrent.

Thank god the peeps at ours are polite. If they had been rude after I sat in line for close to 6 hours you lot would be writing to me in prison!

The only weather extreme that really bothers me are high temps. The rest I can usually tolerate. What really gets me are rapid shifts. The 70's one day and below freezing the next morning we have had several times over the last couple weeks just hurts!

A friend had good luck wrapping several foot of the tree trunk in stretched kitchen plastic wrap. I thought they would just shred it but starting about 2 ft off the ground and wrapping far enough they can't reach over seemed to work.
-
Congratulations. May you have as many happy years together as hubby and I have. (40 and still counting)

No need to apologize. Friends listen. Sometimes we can even help!

I have been doing the pies since I was 10, and something still goes off every dang year. Took over the rest of the meal when Gram passed 25 yrs back. Just multiplied the possibilities for disaster.

Tell us your favorite part of Thanksgiving
Kitt replied to Sherye Story Reader's topic in The Lounge
My favorite part is begging out watching the late game and crafting after dinner with what ever family can be there. We have had years as small as 4 like this year will be, and as many as 20 for the weekend ar my uncles tree farm in Pa. Funny thing is it seems like I cook the same amount either way! Granted this year is 2 pies not 10 or more, and only 1 day baking not again early Saturday, but it's all the same foods just smaller quantities. -
Ok peeps, I can find lots of things to Express my feelings for you all, but cannot seem to get them to post. You will just have to believe I love you all and that I am thankful for each and every one of you!
