Just heard from my neighbors daughter. Hip has been replaced, and they have her up and walking already. Neighborhood is organizing a walking schedule so she will not be out alone once she recovers enough to walk out again. Instead of a rehab facility, a home health aide and a pt will come to her house till she can be independent again.

Covid will kill you. What they don't say is that you don't need to actually get the virus. Suffer from depression or other mental issues? Lockdown will make it worse. Overweight? Yup, makes it worse. I get bored I cook. If I cook I eat. Sometimes more than is good, or things I should not. Mobility issues? Yup, it gets them too. Hard enough getting enough of the right exercise in, close the gyms and pt offices? Another blow to your health. And now the biggest blow. My neighbor was out walking on the first sunny day we have had in a long time. No surgical mask as it interferes with her oxygen canula. She figured she would just stay 10 ft away from every one. Not good enough for a bunch of bullies. They started hitting and shoving her,all the while shouting about no masks. She fell and fractured her hip. What the #&*! Is this world coming to?

Even when things go right they make me crazy. so yesterday bossman at the barn screwed up my bill, right? After several attempts to explain, I told him to create an itemized statement beginning June 1, I would highlight any and all errors and send it back. This would require exactly 3 clicks and entering the start date. I get a "corrected" 1 month statement indicating they actually owe me over $600 due to mistakes he made in data entry months ago, and saying he can't find my July, August and September time sheets, please forward asap. Damn good thing that prior to my resignation I did all of this for him with the exception of my payroll.. IF HE HAS EVERYONE THIS SCREWED UP, HOW DOES HE STAY IN BUSINESS? Good news is I am apparently paid for the next 3 months once he credits the missing time.

I broke out the saucer of hot water and olive oil this afternoon. Hopefully grams method of removing the evil eye works!

Geez. I understand it used to be my job to correct/adjust invoices at the barn, but I no longer have access to the billing system. At least I should not. Have not actually tried to sign in since my last day. So, I sent boss man a reminder that the invoices needed to be adjusted before Jan billing date. I get a bill for both stalls, plus the amount the computer thinks I am in arears for Bo's stall. I had pro rated the payment based on the day he passed, and did the stall strip and clean myself. Stall was ready for a new resident 24 hours after Bo passed. I send him a text saying invoice is wrong, please correct it so I can pay this month's bill. I get a new bill for one stall plus the "arears" . If he thinks he is going to be paid for an empty stall he is nuts. We have had peeps move out mid month with no notice and he approved prorating for days they did not stay. Logic says he just is screwing up by the numbers, that he has forgotten what needs doing since I did it for him for 15 years. But really, of all the peeps to screw up the billing for...

Now that my temper has cooled doing ok. I have one more haul on the schedule for tomorrow am, then have all weekend off, barring emergencies of course. Usually I would make plans for a trip somewhere, but this year... Think I need a new rock to hide under. Too many know where this one is!

Warning...rant ahead. You all know that we had to put my older horse down 3 weeks back after more than a month of meds several times a day, lots of stress and high emotion. After, my daughter decided I did not do enough to try and save him and did not speak to me for 2 weeks, refused to return phone calls and ignored texts. Her "best friend" sent me several texts saying I should leave her alone, what did I expect after killing her horse and making her watch. Christmas eve was the first time she spoke to me civilly. Ok, so things are finally getting slowly back on track. I can look at his pic without breaking into tears, and as long as we stay away from talking about feelings I can even talk about him with a minimum of choke up. I just got a phone call that made me #@*!ing angry. One of the women who was instrumental in the situation that lead to my resignation as barn management wants to know what Bo died from, cause he gave it to her horse who is now very sick. Let's see... 1) Bo has not been near her horse since August when I changed his field to share with my other horse 2) Vets best guess based on treatments we tried, symptom progression, etc, was some form of cancer. No way to be sure without a necropsy, very expensive and basically useless. 3) Bo has been gone for more than 3 weeks. 4) If he were contagious, why is his field mate Jack still hale and healthy? 5) Might it be from contact with the new horse they just put in the field with hers after the bare minimum of quarantine? And finally, HOW DARE SHE SAY MY HORSE MADE HERS SICK? I am just coming back online after my daughter laying a guilt trip on me. How #@*!ing dare she blame me for her horse??? Ok, rant over. Thank you for this fantastic family I can rant at in moments like these.

Morning all. Sitting in a nice warm truck at the Boxing Day Hunt (yes I know yesterday was Boxing Day, but I don't do the scheduling.) I think the horse is a bit perturbed with having been rousted from her nice warm stall and stuffed her in a trailer at 25*f this am. That's -4* for you Celsius peeps.

I am still looking for a set of router bits I bought for my brother back in 1988. He dropped in as mom and I were sorting packages, I stashed his gifts including the bits behind the sofa. 32 years later...

And is fairly painless.
