  1. Ranks up there with abs brakes. I understand they can be a godsend in snow and ice, but if I am standing on that brake pedal, there is a reason !
  2. Most of the small appliances I received for my bridal shower are still functional 38 years later, but I am pretty sure grams dishwasher, and her chest freezer that is now at my aunts house and was old when I learned to say "freezer" hold some sort of record.
  3. I have a dishwasher that was purchased for my gram in 1963. Yes, it is a year older than my brother, and still going strong. Our rental property is on the third since we took over property management in 2014. They don't make things to last anymore.
  4. Ok, rant ahead, so if you don't feel like listening, feel free to skip ahead. Most of you know I tendered my resignation at the barn back in September. I simply could not deal with the lack of communication and zero respect. Basically I was down to my last nerve and they got on it. Things have been better but only to a point. Till the last 2 weeks or so. Vet came for fall shots and was less than pleased with the weight loss my old man was experiencing. Seems that while they were separating the boys for meals, as soon as the faster eater was finished they put them back together. That resulted in the big boy, who is on a diet as he was a little over optimum weight, scoffing up anything the old man had not finished yet. Big boy got fatter, old man got skinnier. Vet recommended feed changes and I was very clear and specific as to what needed to happen. Long story short, they made NO change in feed or method. Old man loses more weight. Now he has very little in reserve when a fall bug hits him( similar to you or i catching a cold). I have the vet in because I am seeing symptoms beyond what I was comfortable dealing with. Changes to feed were recommended again. I texted all persons involved and the barn owner with the new feeding instructions and medication schedule. Again, NO CHANGES OCCURRED. I was very clear, using small words, and was ignored again. Someone please explain to me the meaning of "dry grain only, do not soak" and "NO HAY CUBES". I get to the barn 8 am, old man has been turned out, the feed dish is more than full, with what appears to be last nights dinner, wet hay cubes, and morning feed dumped on top. I changed my name to Karen and ripped everyone a new orifice from owner on down. They all seem to think it unreasonable for my horse to be fed per vets instruction. This way is easier. Until I picked up my riding crop this morning. Let's see if I made an impression this time. I am so tired of this goat rodeo. And hubby doesn't understand why I want to move to another barn.
  5. Amazing how therapeutic a little tequila can be!
  6. Unfortunately it is usually the nervous ones who will find the unhelpful CSR, making them even more nervous next time.
  7. My daughter was very similar at his age. Sit down and explain quietly that you not only cannot do this for him, you will not. Then ask what would make it easier for him. Maybe the list of points to cover, something of yours with him as Molly suggested. Worst case with my girl she made the call from the house phone with me on the cells coaching. It does get better, honest!
  8. Now the $64k question... is he that cute when he blushes in person?
  9. Just proves what we all know. tim is a nice guy.
  10. Dad had a 3 on the tree. Mine was 4 on the floor. How many kids today even know what that 3rd pedal is for?
  11. Lol want to hear someone date themselves? My car was broken into shortly after I got married. Only thing they took was a cb radio that had been dropped at some point and therefore was a tad wonky and needed to be "fonzi thumped" to clear reception. Kicker was the car was not locked, they broke the <hand cranked> window for nothing. Which dates me more? The hand crank window, the cb radio or fonzi thump?
  12. Well finally! Thought we were going to need to knock heads together to get these two on the same page!
  13. Umm, isn't that the way of things? I do that in late June when the days are longest! Forget about December!
  14. I've found the same phenomina with horses.

    Chapter 23

Not really up on pack protocol. Can/do outsiders challenge an alpha? Would the pack accept Jimmy or band together and take him down? I don't see Grainger as leadership material.
  16. Ok, who decided all this horse stuff starts before dawn and ends after dark? There is an upside tho, pretty sunrise this am.
  17. What he said. We will listen, even if we haven't a clue what to say to help.
  18. Has anyone heard from Mac? Hope he is well clear of the Boulder Colorado fire
  19. Only thing better would be to get those results in person!
  20. I have a metal clip board and strip magnets for my cross stitch patterns. I also found blowing it up on a photo copier and marking rows off with a highliter helpful when working complicated patterns.
  21. My mom used to call that "back knitting".
  22. Success! MVC business complete! Only 6.5 hours!
  23. Chair yes, but I am on the shaded side of the building in long sleeves, fuzzy vest and about the only thing you can see of me is my hands and eyes. Its cold out here.
