Congratulations on a romantic tale that stymies the readers by denying them a clear happily ever after. Overall, I enjoyed this story. The premise while not unique had enough of a twist, it was refreshing and believable. I was very impressed with the richness of the imagery, like the many falls Rover encounters throughout the tale and the call back to the consistent themes. The chemistry between Rover and Slade is also so electric, it draws readers in and demands they route for their coupling.
There were a couple/few areas that the author may want to consider refining should the story be revisited, pace and backstory revelation. It was most confusing in explaining the tertiary characters like Sett and George (they felt like completely expendable characters) and it really prevented the reader from having any empathy for Rover's father (not enough redeeming qualities were shown in Rover's dad's current actions to make me believe that Rover's quest to fix things isn't a suicide mission). Regardless of the opportunities, the story was moving and I appreciate you sharing your work Luc Rosen.
