Somehow missed this when it was first published. Was a great short story, dealing with a horrible event.

Don't think CJ would need Lola to rip him limb from limb.

Marital / Spousal rape still isn't treated the same as other forms of rape in a lot of states. Minnesota just made it illegal THIS YEAR. There are still about dozen states where punishments are much less severe than they would be otherwise.

Had to look this up as I couldn't remember who said it: Benedictine Sr. Joan Chittister made this comment in an interview in 2004, "I do not believe that just because you are opposed to abortion, that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, a child educated, a child housed. And why would I think that you don't? Because you don't want any tax money to go there. That's not pro-life. That's pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is." Asked about the statement this year by the National Catholic Reporter, she stood by it and said that the single-issue approach was, "morally inconsistent."

Love Gin Wigmore. Another good blues rock singer is ZZ Ward.

Those are lovely -- but they're not amethyst

Great chapter. Only think that broke me out of the story completely was your description of amethyst as "pink." Amethyst is a dark purple to light violet. If they want a true pink, they would need rose quartz. Gem & mineral collection has been a lifelong obsession / hobby.

Which of your stories are they from? Edit: never mind - just noticed the earlier comment from Carlos saying which story they're from.

Well, what a fun day this is turning out to be... Stayed home because the cold front that moved through about an hour ago is making me hurt; campus was on alert the last two hours because of "possible gunshots" in the library that turned out [thankfully] to be construction noise; this had also caused three of the local schools to go into "lockout" mode; and my mom called to say one of my aunts fell and broke her fibula. ☹️

Oh the joy. 😕 Sending good thoughts your way.

Don't forget a flamboyance of flamingo's 🙃

Hope you get to feeling better soon (all of you). I'm at home this morning because we have another weather shift moving through and my right hips is expressing it's displeasure. The joy of Fall. >sigh<

Quite a bit in this chapter. Love the name Thiago chose for his son, and love that you mention 'kangaroo care'. It's a wonderful thing for both the parents and the child. Upset at Nadine and her not wanting to see any of the guys. Can almost understand not wanting to see the child but closing off everyone who had been a friend... also understand CJ's reaction. Sean / Ethan situation -- Sean has some very valid concerns. Ones that really shouldn't matter but, realistically, do. Brad --

Wasn't surprised to find he's "new money" -- they tend to be the most obnoxious.

Love the way you have the brief recaps of what's happened in the early books.

Over The Rainbow • Part VIII

I don't know, there's still a feeling of hope in his version that I think is lacking in hers. Both, however, are extremely beautiful works, and I love them for different reasons. -

From what I can see online, they do have a section for "Non-Jewish Victims of Persecution". People forget that Roma, the disabled, and other groups were also targeted. I think it's possible to remember them without diminishing the overwhelming impact it had on the Jewish population of Europe. Sadly, I've had conversations with others who disagree. 💔 -

He is independent. If the four parents would have sat down with him and Owen and discussed their concerns and reasons with him, instead of presenting it as fait accompli, he might have been more responsive - or at least listened to what they had to say before turning the idea down. -
Wonderful chapter, and the inclusion of the scarf as the ring pillow was wonderful. For wedding music, I would have chosen The Nearness of You over As Time Goes By but that's just a personal choice. I've always wanted Bette Midler's version of Going to the Chapel / Chapel of Love to play as the last song before the Wedding March. Did make me cry -- memories of C and lost dreams of what may have been.

It was used in counseling and therapy before it became a party drug, and showed benefits in treating PTSD before the DEA reclassified it and medical research was effectively shut down. It also has benefits in treating anxiety/depression. This is also one of the Catch 22's surrounding medical marijuana - those who are against the idea point to there being no studies showing that its effective; but it's current classification and the rules around it effectively prevent any such studies from being done.

I was going to bring this up myself -- it seemed like a place CJ would definitely have want to visit, and a very important reminder of our history.

Being lazy so far this morning - just woke up an hour ago. Will have to get some laundry done at some point today.

Hm... Firefox's "Reader "View" drops the extra lines between scenes - which i've not seen it do before. Going to make reading this one more difficult.

The one piece of jewelry I routinely wear is a silver band with a trilliant cut [triangular], pink sapphire setting. Gay men who survived the camps did not receive the same reparations and pensions given to the other groups. -

His version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is one of my favorites, especially the version where he blends in "What a Wonderful World." Another favorite version is the one by Tori Amos -- although her's is more sorrowful. There's a longing in her version; a sense of a place you will never reach, but know exists.
