  1. Come on you prudes
  2. So I have some questions to ask and hopefully the answers won't be considered spoilers . A land lover like me knows very little about sailing or yachting, cruising, etc. Now I understand that Trevor has a on-board GPS, VHF Radio, and proximately radar all on the Atlantis. My question has to do with maps/charts. Since Trevor has been more or less restricted to the Caribbean, would he only have charts available for that area? I just don't see him storing on-board charts for crossing the Atlantic, sailing the Med, cruising down to Australia across the Indian Ocean. Or would he? Now the weather maps/reports, could he get those off the radio? Once again, I really don't see why Trevor would have these readily at hand for a trans-Atlantic crossing. I thought he maybe had a laptop on board and he could download them but dismissed it due to the fact I don't know that there would be many WI-FI access points out in the middle of the ocean. Even at his distance of less than a mile from the coast of the US, I don't believe he could make a connection. Does he have some kind of satellite equipment which would give him access to these reports/maps/charts? Or does he need them? Just curious, Steve
  3. Great chapter CJ, thanks . First off, I want to compliment Trevor on his writing, it is so clear and legible, he must be gay . I guess we now know that the title of the story has nothing to do with how Dirk drives to Miami or about Trevor sailing around the Bahamas. I think it is really a rash decision on Trevor's part, but I guess that he has proved to be someone to not think about things through before reacting, otherwise he could be a normal 17 year old . There was the time that he mentioned about hoping his Dad was okay because he was like him now, alone, that kinda of made a lump in my throat. It was the first glimmer of hope that I had for their relationship to improve. Like Benji mentioned, the story just about ended before it got going with Trevor falling overboard. I guess I wasn't to scared due to that fact. Since there really isn't any other characters to step forward, Trevor is kind of it. I do look forward to Joel's arrival to Gibraltar. If Trevor sits the boat at the west end of the runway, Joel should be about to see him when landing if the wind direction has the plane landing to the east. From there, I imagine they will have some fun, visiting places like Ibiza would be first on my stops . I just wonder if they're age may become a factor in some of the fun they can have . Great chapter, thanks again CJ.
  4. Most Canadians have snapping beavers with them. *wildone goes to look for a snapping beaver*
  5. Hmmm, now we have an assault on Snowbirds. When will the abuse end? Since there is no mention of Snowbirds in the text, one would have to assume that you are now stereotyping Canadians and Americans of the Northern type as being elderly bad drivers . Can not blame Joel or Lisa for this one, can you ? I think we have exposed, shall we say a bias, against Canadians in this story by this author . We will have to watch closely to see if you slip up again. The one great thing is that we are a very forgiving nation, so based on that (and the pm's threatening me for threatening you to not let Joel wear speedos ), I will stop all action against you at this moment. Be aware you are still on notice Mr. Goat. We will just let bygones be bygones for now.
  6. Probably watch all of them. Will be partial to Hockey and Figure Skating as I worked them in '88 in Calgary. Interesting little fact, Canada as host nation has never won a gold medal while hosting the Olympics. Not in 74 in Montreal or in Calgary in 88. Let's hope it changes in Vancouver.
  7. Good choice of a car!!!! Here is a picture of my four door Chevy Cobalt after a collision with a semi trailer unit last June. After the accident I learned that it rates in the top 3 for collision testing. Probably the only reason I'm here today. Something to think about when getting a car!!!
  8. Happy Birthday Mr. Greg Here's hoping the first day of the next decade of your life is great!!!
  9. Well if you want, I can add your name with Benji's to the indictment
  10. This is still unacceptable to the 32 million Canadian citizens. After the protest of the tens of people we have contacted the Department of Foreign Affairs (equivalent to your State Department), and are making the following demands: Until such time Joel or CJ clarifies the comments and makes a full apology to Canada, we will proceed with treating this incident as an act of aggression against our country. Furthermore, we respectfully request that Joel does not appear in any chapters going forward wearing a speedo . If he should appear in a future chapter in a speedo than we will take the following actions: File an official complaint with the United Nations. Recall our Ambassador and Consul Generals from our embassy and consulates all over the US. Cut off all supply of oil and natural gas to your country (just think of all the states getting the unusual blast of winter and not having any heating fuel). File a warrant for the trial of C James in the world court in The Hague for his transgressions against Canada. Notify our Department of National Defense and Canada Customs and Border Services of the Canada Revenue Agency to forbid the entry or exit of any US citizen to Canada. Consider yourself on notice Mr. James.
  11. Other than a couple of months Trevor would be starting his senior year in High School and I can't see Dirk sending him down under then, you bring up a lot of good points. I wonder if his mom is still alive and hiding in Australia, by him running (sailing) away, he is ruining Dirk's and his Mom's plan for him to understand the conspiracy . You've given me a lot to think about Trebs, thanks .
  12. What ??? Let's see...that mean and evil Dirk has offered to buy his son a trip to Australia so he can make contact with his Mom's relatives that may help his son who is still hurting over her loss. He also offered to pay for a 'girlfriend' if he had one, fare as well. Oh, oh, oh, yeah, he also has shown constant concern that his teenage son doesn't have a 'normal' life because he spends every free moment with a boat. Instead of making friends, going out, goofing off, and generally being a teenager. Somebody call social services on Dirk . What a horrible father he has been so far based on the facts. (no specific offence to you Linxe, I just needed to rant , please don't be mad at me )
  13. Good points as well. I just have the gut and brain feeling that Dirk is straight and does not know about Trevor's sexuality. I have a feeling there is a goat laughing his head off in Arizona reading about the debate that really only he knows the answer to . I have now calmed down enough to discuss another matter that had me extremely upset. I'm sure there is tens of people ready to riot in the streets across our fair nation with this little passage: So goat, what are you exactly saying. Are you saying that all Canadians are gay? If I may quote Bugeye in another forum: So was that your point CJ? That all Canadians are gay? Or was it that you think all Canadians show their junk off in Speedos when visiting the States? No matter what, it sounds like Joel is referring to Canadians in a negative connotation. Don't put the blame on Joel, you put the words into his mouth . What do you have to say for yourself CJ? The nation of Canada awaits your response
  14. As much as I hate to double post I forgot that we needed to include a sailing song in our posts for this chapter. Since I don't know any besides Come Sail Away by Styx, I'll have to post these ones instead : Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot Drink up me hearties, yo ho We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot Drink up me hearties, yo ho Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me We extort, we pilfer, we filch and sack Drink up me hearties, yo ho Maraud and embezzle and even high-jack Drink up me hearties yo ho Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me We kindle and char, inflame and ignite Drink up me hearties, yo ho We burn up the city, we're really a fright Drink up me hearties, yo ho We're rascals, scoundrels, villains, and knaves Drink up me hearties, yo ho We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs Drink up me hearties, yo ho Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me We're beggars and blighters and ne'er do-well cads Drink up me hearties, yo ho Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads Drink up me hearties, yo ho
  15. I have booked my flight to St. John's Newfoundland and from there it is a short drive to Cape Spear, the most eastern point of North America. From the lighthouse I shall wait for Trevor anxiously and will not leave until I'm safely on board the Atlantis . It is the middle of the winter, and for that I will spare all of you, the good readers of Circumnavigation, the Canadian Coast Guard, the residences of Newfoundland, and all the sea life the lives on or in the Atlantic ocean the sight of me standing in a speedo . Onto something more serious.... I'll be wearing boardies . No, what I wanted to discuss was how we are still on Dirk's case here. After that chapter, I don't really see how we can criticize Dirk if we are blaming him for not realizing Trevor is gay. I mentioned before, first off, how many parents really just make an assumption that the child is heterosexual? Probably 99.9%. That is until they do something that may make think differently. So lets assume the Dirk is under the impression that Trevor is gay. Trevor has brought up ambiguous subjects to skate around the issue to see how his Dad feels about gays. Dirk has seemed to have much of a reaction other than change the subject. Not normal? No. Then in this chapter, Trevor tells us that he let his Dad be under the impression for a while that he was dating Lisa . So we have poor old Dirk here who has no indication his son is gay, his son lies to him about having a girlfriend, he offers a trip to Australia to Trevor and his girlfriend (once again, where has Trevor indicated he isn't interested in girls). I think we all need to get off Dirk's back for him not knowing Trevor is gay. Dirk has enough faults it seems to not have a unnecessary one piled on too. Things like his temper, his secret visits, his hiding information about his wife's disappearance/death, and him being a suspect. Anyways, I've babbled on enough, and have to pack for my trip . Steve
  16. Chapter 10 is up . I'm off to read and will comment later .
  17. If I am correct, Tuesday is Australia Day. So......... Happy Australia Day !! Hope you have a great party. It seems over the past year we have acquired a lot of new members from Down Under Enjoy
  18. Yeah, restaurant and aardvark. Kind of like Tomato and Tomatoe
  19. Hi and welcome to GA!! I read your post and a couple of things came to mind. Unfortunately you haven't got in five posts as of yet to use the PM system, so maybe Shadowgod or JSmith may see this post and be able to help you out before you get to that five post limit. If your posting stories, you should PM JSmith (Joe) and have your tag changed to an author. The part of posting for every chapter, I'm assuming that you mean to post an announcement in the eFiction Announcements section. Since you figured out how to start a new thread in here, you should be able to post your announcement with a link to your story there. Once again, if not. Make a few more posts (reply to each of these comments individually with something as simple as 'hey, thanks') to get up to five and then PM either Shadowgod, JSmith or Steph291 and I'm sure they will be more than helpful. Looking forward to see you more. Steve
  20. Quiet? Shhhh? Not gonna happen Actually, this kinda of makes you a little more human like the rest of us . I mean, here you are, a Supergoat that writes (that in itself is amazing) with a couple of hoofs and puts out multi chapter stories on a weekly basis. On top of that (I wonder if he uses any paper and then eats the drafts or is it all electronic?) this Supergoat travels extensively by car, train, plane, and boat. I we know that he isn't sedated and thrown in a crate (though I'm sure with his constant bleating, it might be a better idea). Don't worry about it CJ, it wasn't like you gave away the story. It will be that we will all be actually anxiously awaiting the next chapter. What will happen in this restaurant? Oh wait, I just noticed next chapter is named Launch, I'm sure it is a typo and really should be called Lunch No sweat goat, your only part human . Steve
  21. Happy Birthday Alek Hope you pop out of Jensen's pocket to enjoy the day!! Have a super Birthday!!
  22. Happy Birthday Joey Hope you have a great birthday and many more great days over the next year!!!! Steve
  23. Sorry to rehash this subject . I saw Craig Ferguson last night on the Late Late Show and he started off with comparing Canadians to Octopus . Needless to say by the end I was rolling around in laughter. He even singles out Jack Frost in his monologue . Enjoy the clip here.
  24. Happy Birthday Gabriel Hope you had a great day!!
  25. My two cents worth is that by just having two parents, they can assume different roles. It doesn't need to be a mother and a father. I think a couple will adapt to what their children need. Not that I am trying to throw single parents under the bus but it must be hard for one person to assume all the roles that two parents could share. Also I'm glad that even more proof from studies is coming out in favour of same sex parenting. Even though conservatives will dismiss it, it is always good to have more ammo for the debate .
