Another Monday, and another great story to be featured! If you have overeaten ham, turkey, or other holiday weekend fare, then why exercise when you can sit back and read another fascinating story brought to us from our great Story Review Team! A Bad Day to be WET Myr Reviewer: spikey582 Status: Complete Word Count: 5,341 For this review, I felt like looking at something a bit different from what I've reviewed in the past. My first love, as far as genre fiction is concerned, has always been sci-fi/fantasy stories, and yet I’ve not read many of the GA offerings in that genre. So, to remedy that I decided to dip into some of the writing of GA’s own Myr. In A Bad Day to be WET, we get to experience a day in the life of one Bill Thomas, a test pilot in the Terran Confederation Spaceforce. Bill is a Jumper, one who can sense “jump points” in space time, and psionically “jump” a ship from one point or another. We meet him in the midst of calibrating the navigation system in a prototype bomber spacecraft. Shortly, he is being called away on a priority mission, flying through a hurricane, and transporting civilians through an active war zone. What I particularly love about this story is that it feels like an episode of an exciting sci-fi tv show. We get taken for a thrilling ride, and it is so much fun to experience. While this is a short story, that is somewhat episodic in nature, Myr still does an amazing job of developing his main character Bill. Be it through his daring flight skills, his forthright banter, or his casual flirtation with a senator’s son, we get a well-defined picture of what he’s like and what he’s about. The best part is that it’s all done through the action and dialogue of the story. A Bad Day to be WET feels in every way like it should be part of an ongoing sci-fi tv series. In fact, considering that Myr has written several other shorts set in this same universe, it can certainly be read as such a series. This is a fun, action-packed read. Is it Monday yet? I'm on holidays and had a nice sleep in, which means a delay in getting this great review up! My apologies. Finding Refuge Headstall Reviewer: Timothy M. Status: Complete Word Count: 13,178 Do you like a good cowboy story? Whether you do or not, I’m willing to bet you’ll enjoy this tale about two cowboys who’re in dire need of refuge. One is being hunted and has lost his best friend to the evil men following him. He and his trusted horse are on their last legs, thirsty and tired, when the story begins. It’s difficult to describe the content without spoiling the delightful twist and turns, which are a wonderful part of the joy Gary’s short story gave me. But I think no one will be surprised to learn that, in true Headstall style, the heroes are decent, honest, gorgeous guys, who long for that one special person in their lives. Someone to trust, to love, and to share the dream of a home and a life filled with hard work, laughter and –ahem– hot man sex. Not that there is any of the latter in this story. Maybe I’ll just share some of the enthusiastic comments from readers and let you discover the rest for yourself. @Coastguard: I absolutely LOVE the way you write. I've always enjoyed cowboy stories, and this one was exceptionally well written! @Zeke Pine: Sir, this story holds much potential. Should you decide to add to it, I will not miss a chapter. @ColumbusGuy: Okay, I won't say I'm a fan of Westerns now, but you brought me durn close, I reckon. @LitLover: Your approach to a traditional cowboy story was interesting and engaging, drawing me in from the first line. @Albert1434: The whole time I read this I could hear the music from the Good the Bad and the Ugly playing in the back ground. Lucky I'm doing this tonight before I go to bed, as tomorrow, don't come looking to borrow a cup of sugar (do people actually do that?) as I might bite your head off . Yes, last night was this biannual silly thing called Daylight Savings Time. If you don't have this annoying time shift in your neck of the woods, it resets our clocks an hour ahead or behind to accommodate for longer days for the summer and shorter days for the winter and energy consumption. Unfortunately Saturday night was the kick in for Daylight savings time, and some annoyingly happy person said, "Let's Spring Forward", but never considered that I'm losing a very important hour of sleep . Oh well, I should be back to my usual, chipper, happy, self around the end of June . Shall we look back on the week of GA Blogs? Welcome Mike!! I too have been a fan for years, so to have you part of the GA family is very exciting! I am enjoying Terre Nouvelle as we speak and hoping to catch up on some more stories as you post !

The thing I love about your writing, Mike, is that it always transcends between the pageantry and old world European royalty, but with modern twists that really doesn't leave you pigeon holed into era, or historical period. If that makes any sense . The fact that they are talking about English as a old or lost language makes you wonder where on the timeline we are, or if there even is a timeline. As I haven't read this story, I am looking forward to reading this as a new reader! You have captured my interest with this opening chapter. Sounds like we have a cocky (no pun intended) sixteen year old King who may be more than sixteen in some ways, and definitely sixteen in a lot of ways Thanks for sharing!!

Except for the ferals. Battles for territory, fighting persecution from the humans, for the right to rule, have echoed down through the ages. In these modern times things are different, easier. Laws are made--and enforced--and peace, of a sorts, is possible. Some seek to end that. 2. Two of a Kind A hot steamy jungle, a plague in the past and present and two men who are destined to be mates. Volatile tempers erupt in a fiery tale of romance and magic. 3. Hypnotic Davis has been alone for a long time. Between his club and his job essentially as a mercenary for Velaku, the local Carthera leader who let him live in his territory, he has little time to worry about finding a mate. I missed last chapter and have a lot to say So, much like the length of this chapter I shall share a few opinions, feelings and other musings So where do I start, how about with Robbie. Although it is okay for us to sit back and judge him and his decisions (which will be Robbie's hindsight eventually), but as was reinforced to him again this chapter in not telling, more bad will come to him than good if he reveals what Alex did to him. Try to jump into 16 y/o Robbie's mind, he feels that he shares part of the blame for what happened to him. His internal thoughts even show that he felt that he lead Alex on. We all know that he would benefit from psychological help, but Robbie and Sue and everyone else is looking for a physical reason for his decline in health, but like @ColumbusGuy's comments, I think this is mainly in his head. But, what is in his head is logical to Robbie, and no one will know about it until he talks about it. I was wondering last chapter if it was time for Alex to realize he need to get the heck out of Dodge (no pun intended Dodger ). Unfortunately in a true testament to teenage logic, Alex is doing the same thing as Robbie. The only added thing is that he is in LOVE with Robbie. I'm sure Alex is looking at everything right about Robbie and how things will be much better if they are together, the same way Robbie looked at Nathan in the beginning. I think everyone knows that Alex logic that no one will care if they cross the border, wrong. Border patrol agents would never let 3 under 18 y/o's cross the border without a parent, maybe the 16 y/o's with a note from the parent, but Luke, not a hope in hell. Now the big question is, is Alex convinced enough in his head to go with Luke, with or without Robbie? Something tells me that in a turn of events, Robbie is going to be the voice of logic here. Here's a wild out there shot? Alex is admitting he is gay. Sue has said that Alex and Luke are on the way out as they are too much. Do we know any gay retired social workers that live in a house on their own in Cobourg that could maybe foster Alex and Luke? As much as we all want Walter to step in to help Robbie, what if he helps out Alex and Luke and then when Alex is confident, he can share what he did to Robbie and then Walter will know how to help Robbie? Probably not, but it would be nice So Sue, I'll be honest, she has annoyed me, pissed me off, I wanted to challenge her, but I always felt that she would come around. I guess I've never been ready to through her out with the bath water so to speak. Although she is a royal pain in the ass to sick Robbie, is there anyone that doubts that she isn't doing this in Robbie's best interest. Pretty sad when the part of the couple that isn't the blood relative of Robbie is the one showing at the beginning and now again, the better relative. I agree with the teaser, I feel a confrontation of Sue, Don and the cult is a brewing. I wonder, is Don so pigheaded that he'd consider facing a separation and divorce if he continues down his current path? Wondering where he will stay if gets the boot? Maybe Nathan's parents would be willing to give him a bed . I know Daniel's gurl friend kind of played second fiddle to Robbie in this chapter, but I do hope it become a gurlfriend. He deserves some lovin too I've heard of people that have been raped, feeling like they are really dirty... in their mind. I don't think that there will be much going on between Connor and Robbie in the immediate future. As Robbie said, even the thought of kissing him isn't right. Well I shall wait to see Don walk the plank, or at least the sidewalk to the road in the next chapter. Thanks for sharing Dodger, as always you have me invested in the direction of all your characters.
