Where I work is still open, but I think that may change once we get confirmed cases in this area. It's getting closer, since there's more confirmed cases in Rochester and now right over the border in Canada. I'm only about 15 minutes from the border.

So I decided to go grocery shopping this morning. I usually go shopping every Sat am at 7-7:30ish. Today, I went at 6:30, figuring it would be a bit more crowded. Well.. holy crap was I right, but I didn't figure on how right I was. The parking lot was full. Every register was open and every line was to the back of the store. They were low/sold out of a lot of things, despite restocking overnight. They opened at 6:00 am. I managed to snag a little bit of meat and most of what was on my list though. I even got toilet paper I got one six pack, and it was one of the last ones there. Hey don't judge me.. I needed it I waited in the checkout line for a little over an hour. Everyone was nice and polite, even if some jerk said "Excuse me, sir." I know I'm a bit of a tomboy, but I think my gender is pretty clear! I seriously hope this shopping frenzy dies down soon. OMG.

I was supposed to go on vacation next week, but have cancelled it. Good idea on the story

You're lucky, then. All the stores here are madhouses. I'm planning on getting up early tomorrow and am hoping it's not going to be too nuts then.

I stopped and bought cat food and litter today. there was plenty of that, so people apparently aren't stocking up for their pets.

Not here. People are buying everything off the shelves, not just toilet paper. The store I go to is changing their hours so they can clean and restock. I'm not kidding... there's no pasta, canned goods, paper goods, or frozen goods. People are literally buying out the entire store.

I'm going shopping tomorrow morning. I hope there's something left to buy!

It's the smart and prudent thing to do. I was supposed to take a trip next week and visit some friends and go to a model horse show. The show is being postponed, and while I'd much rather go see my friends, I think the responsible thing to do is stay home and not put any of us at risk. It's not just me or my friends, but if I pick something up, I could spread it at work. The individuals I work with are all at high risk.

There aren't any confirmed cases here yet, although there is one in Rochester now. It's just a matter of time before it reaches here. There are 216 confirmed cases in New York State. I'm not sure how many fatalities. Edited to add: Scratch that. 112 more cases since yesterday, so 328.

There are 64 schools in the SUNY system that will close across the state. There aren't any confirmed cases in my area yet.

The State University of New York system are closing all their campuses for the semester starting on the 19th. Classes will be completed online. My intern said her entire class is freaking out about the possibility of not getting enough clinical hours to graduate. A lot of people are doing placements in schools right now. If they close, they'll have to delay graduation. Where I work, they're having individuals over 60 stay home and not come to dayhab. We can still see them, but have to schedule them on an outpatient basis.
