    I had to stop and think for a minute, and remember what I posted, since your opening line for April 1st is eerily similar to what I wrote this morning. I'm glad you stopped by. You'll find a mixture of melancholy, despair, laughter, and hope in my offerings this month. Going forward, I'll be posting every Sunday, including the poems I wrote for the week.     Thanks so much Navigating the new world we live in is not easy. I find writing these helps me sort through my emotions. I hope they'll become brighter as the month progresses

    It was in the 70s here Sunday and dropped into the 40s yesterday. It's about 50 now, not too bad, although overcast and dreary.

    Poem #1 March 30th Today, I put a stuffed penguin in my kitchen window. I read on social media about kids doing a ‘bear hunt’ to ease boredom. I don’t have stuffed bears, but I do have stuffed penguins. It was something to do for ten seconds. I didn’t shower today because I did yesterday and I don’t smell. Yet. I’m wearing my red pajama bottoms from Christmas. The ones with the reindeer with a bowtie around their neck and a wreath around their antlers. I won

    April is National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo), and the challenge is to write 30 poems (one per day) throughout the month. This year, I decided to do something a little different. Each day (or every other day, depending on my mood) I will write a 'postcard'--a short poem about my daily dealings with the COVID-19 pandemic. I will also write other poems as the mood (and daily prompts) strike me. I think it will be an interesting exercise to see how the poems change across the course of the month.
