I love vampires! Could use more of this, as this world has been set up quite well, and it really doesn't feel finished. Loved the last line. "I'll be downstairs preparing stakes" Thank you, author. Cheers!

How are we supposed to keep our sanity in this truly horrible world? The weight of our exposed vicious cruelty and disregard is overwhelming sometimes. Sorry... I need to go for a walk. Have an awesome day, all.

Interesting experience, reading this short story. The world building was well done, and it is worth the time to give it a read. There is no preparing for the unexpected ending. Cheers!

Rather an abrupt ending, and not all all satisfying, but good on you, author, for doing the unconventional. I admit I wasn't as affected as I would have been if I knew this young couple better, and witnessed their love a little more fully. It was more a day-in-the-life sort of thing, and I'm thankful for that. This was well-written... good job, since I was just beginning to find this world fascinating. Cheers!

I enjoyed this sweet little romp. Unrequited love is the toughest, often staying with you your entire life, so it was nice to see Caleb finally had his wish come true. I like happy endings. Well done, author.

This was a story I felt I had to write. I wasn't completely finished with Larkspur, and the sheriff intrigued me from the first time I thought of him, leaning against his office wall on the streets of Red Bluff. I love when a story happens organically in my head, and that's what happened with this one. Thank you, Stefano!

I agree with @ColumbusGuy too. He's very learned and adept as seeing the sense in things. I have faith, but organized religion is something I can abhor at times. It's track record has been, and still is, often barbaric and cruel. -
I give five stars for the quality of writing. This is well worth a read, but it left me a bit unsettled. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Judge for yourself.

Well written for sure, and if the author wanted me to feel frightened for Lucas and abhor his decisions, he succeeded. Like others, this was too creepy for me. I can't see this ending well. Morris is a predator, and he preyed on Lucas. It's what they do... read vulnerabilities and take advantage of youth, and he made me angry. That said, I must admit this was powerful in that it invoked a visceral reaction. Well done.

This was my first multi-chapter western, and it opened me up to writing more... in fact there is a sequel to this called "Larkspur: A Sidewinder Tale". A fascinating first person story about an icon, and the greed of men. If you are familiar with Rock Hudson you should read this. It is further insight into that time of unimaginable tragedy.

Fascinating stuff. While Rock was indeed an icon, I always sensed his humanity, his decency, so it is nice to read an informative and supportive story of him. I expect this is all true, and it just shows what greed will do to people. Thanks for sharing your story, whoever you are. Those times were sad and brutal beyond measure, and I am so thankful young folk today don't experience the devastation those never-ending losses wreaked. Cheers! Gary
