Thanks so much Hunter! You're right, unhealthy as the relationship with Alex is, there is no comparison to Twoey and Erik. We can be easily upset with the take-charge girl and a gay boy in denial. But the way Erik is spinning his web, cocooning Twoey, is the one to be concerned about. David/Alex is not frightening. Twoey/Erik is.
-
Thanks Carl! You made an interesting observation about Twoey and the stability he seeks. It could be one of the reasons he's allowing Erik to control more of his life. He hasn't recognized what he perceives as a warm, attentive relationship is, in reality, a straightjacket being slowly tied around him.

Thanks spikey! Parents in small towns, not related to cities, are much different from the helicopter parents of the affluenza society. Kids leave in the morning and come back at night, usually only interrupted by a family dinner. Even when home, they don't feel the need to constantly interact with the adults. Maybe the suburban sprawl, with it's requirement that parents taxi kids everywhere, has created this relatively curious and unfortunate symbiotic relationship. It's not so much inattention, as considering children to be capable of learning and growing without the need for a buddy-parent.

Thanks CG! It must be lack of sleep getting the latest Jay & Miles to us. This was about average length for a "Twoey" chapter. Sundays are usually non-action days in this story. It's the time the characters try to make sense of what has happened to them and/or plan out their next actions. A day for introspection.

This was a lovely chapter CG. You've pulled all the boys together where they can bond in a different way. Gary mentioned a 'safe haven,' and that's what it is, where they can be themselves and support each other. Jay's mom made that clear, and Jay's dad even added themselves to the support group, with "if you need to talk—about anything—Rosalie and I are here for you. Don’t ever feel that you have to handle tough things alone…." Powerful stuff. Of course any chapter with Benny has me smiling automatically, but there was so much more in here to smile about. Thanks for sharing this great chapter with us CG!

Faris and James: The Party, erm … Event (Prompt 501)
skinnydragon commented on Mikiesboy's story chapter in Faris and James: The Party, erm … Event (Prompt 501)
Do you know what is really delicious, tim? It's how you write about these two. A delicate, light touch with such a colorful brush! Thanks for this little slice of life someone prompted you to create for us! -
Week Fourteen Sunday, December 7, 2014: Shimmering Reflections
skinnydragon posted new chapter in 18 Weeks of Twoey
in the glittery glare of the ice coated tree did my soul now despair for the ken of my love, be it she be it he was now mine to declare - David *** I couldn’t find any time to meditate! I knew I needed to get back to Danny and see how Randy figures into all of this. But this morning, right after Tommy showered me, I barely had gotten dried off and into my boxers when Alex walked in. Tommy was still in his Speedo, so it was cute seeing him turn crimson and scoot off to his room- 25 comments

Chapter 1 - Invitation
skinnydragon commented on Lux Apollo's story chapter in Chapter 1 - Invitation
Hey lux! That was such a really solid chapter which set the scene so well! Since it makes me very interested in what's really going on with Mike, and what will happen next, you done good! Now, just don't make us wait toooo long! -
I wonder if Joey is part of the conservative religious community, since Chase's mom is so tolerant of him. And that would make him another candidate for the Bobbygate group.

Four touching poems, tim. Still brought back memories. My mother had a special window installed in her kitchen. It was long and thin, and had a base only six inches from the floor. You understand who it was for. When the eventual day eventually arrived, she guarded those nose prints in her otherwise immaculately clean kitchen. I still remember visiting and seeing them there. Thank you for these.
-
Thanks so much Def! Wow, three chapters! Poor thing. we're all squeezing that Charles is not an agent of dear mother. But she's so relentless. Gary does appear to be the best thing that's happened to Toph, but we're always a little on guard because of his previous behavior. Let's hope they were mistakes he's learned from. He offers Toph the best protection from his mother, anyway.
-
Thanks so much jess! I think the importance of this month to Toph will be better understood when he thinks back on it, as opposed to the swirl of living it. There were lots of positive things happening to him. Hopefully, it's good Charles didn't have the need to contact Toph right away, which probably would have meant bad news. Of course, we're always a little suspicious of contact from Euphoria.
-
Thank you for the nice comments, AC! Um ...maybe Charles misses the excitement Toph brought to the family dinners? Maybe he's Mother's new secret weapon? In other news ...you can't possibly expect Toph to let us into the bedroom, can you? Of course, the next two weeks could be a bit boring to read if it's all about the crash of the waves and noise of the gulls.
-
Thank you for the kind words, Parker! As I speculated to Rex, I think Gary has learned a lot from mistakes made in his previous dealings with Toph. That 'education' is on display more than ever in this chapter.
-
Thanks for your great comments Rex! Yes, Toph has surely gone "all in" with his goal to create an exemplary portfolio for Abington. He'll just have to learn balance. Speaking of balance, I think Gary has done a pretty good study of his young friend over the first half of this year. He seems to know what Toph needs and when he needs it.
-
Thank you Tim! As for attempting too much, I think this is his first real goal to focus on -- um, except for fleeing from his family. Gary may have more in mind for Texas, but then there are sooo many ways to de-stress someone.
-
Thanks so much tim! I'm tickled you enjoyed the chapter. I agree, it shouldn't be ignored, the fact Toph so easily went along with the vacation idea.
-
Thank You Graeme! Yes, it seems our young hero became more focused as he exited his teen years, and he's getting some great support. The entire next chapter takes place in Texas, so you will get your wish.

Chapter 15 Dinner with friends
skinnydragon commented on Timothy M.'s story chapter in Chapter 15 Dinner with friends
It was good having Anthony and John filled in a little more, as characters. Also Patrick's admission of having no friends was a little sad, but since they all heard it, there might be a few more friends just offstage ...hehe. Now let's see if we can get Fiona figured out. Maybe Patrick can add a few 'new' relatives to the mix too! Thanks for sharing this chapter with us, Tim! -
Gay History 101 -- and More!
skinnydragon commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in Gay History 101 -- and More!
An absolutely riveting chapter, Rex! A great history lesson for Ryan (and us all) which also helped give us new insight into where Clayton is. And one place he is, he's at the center of Ryan's love and affection. Something tells me with the upcoming revelation, that bond will get closer. Thank you for such a wonderful chapter!
