Thanks for the review and nice comments Carl! You're right in that Niles and 'coming out' were the two biggest surprises for Toph (and us) in the chapter. Niles - we'll have to wait for that to emerge. Coming out seemed to have surprised even Toph. It certainly does change things for him, and how he views his world.

Thanks for the review and comments jess! It was Erik's pushiness that caused David to start disliking him in the first place. Anybody's guess where this will lead. David's going to need Putin and other allies too. His enemy is very, very bad indeed. -

We knew with everything he had been doing, Robbie's lives were going to intersect (collide?) somewhere. But this seems a bit different. Like he's getting himself in to something a little too deeply. The drugs are bad, the relationship with Alex is worse, but I think the pictures are going to be the worst. Nothing good can come of them at all. Good (bad) chapter Dodger! Usually we can't wait for the next one, but I'm a little uneasy about one of the next two chapters, -

Carl - this is SO not like stories I normally enjoy reading. That being said, I like it very much - go figure. Anyway, I'm trying not to read it too fast, trying to absorb and enjoy and wallow.

Well tim, hard as it was to hit the 'like' button, I convinced myself it was only liking that you got it out. Nothing anyone can say will change how it feels to you. It's wonderful you have the husband you do, and I'm sure that's no news bulletin. Devote all your energy to you two. It also sounds like you have a great family to enjoy, so do it. Thanks for the lovely comment dayne! Once the characters are alive in my head, it's much easier to get in and out of them, so to speak. I don't think it would be possible if I didn't love them, every one!

Thanks for your thoughts Def! Yes, little steps. Maybe Toph was more damaged than he or we thought. A reader mentioned somewhere (Toph Forum?) that he was functioning well despite his problems. Maybe it's what's keeping friends from noticing something's wrong. idk

Thanks for the great review Rex! The 'analyzing' you so delicately mentioned is deeply ingrained from his past life and, as you note, the missing spontaneity - which could be the final piece of his puzzle, but it's still awfully far away.
