    Well, in this chapter we certainly picked up a few new pieces and hardly got any answers Detective Venturi doesn't quite sit well with me at this juncture. Denise is just irritating. Does she even realize she's pushing Jason further away? He needs to end it fast. Maybe get Brad to backup his decision somehow. Denise needs to go away. Maybe Jason should complain to VP? haha! Anyway, a great story mitchelll -- and getting more convoluted! Keep up the good work!

    Thanks Def! Batman and Robin lol A lot is happening, but Nov. 1 we get Mike and Gary in Syracuse, Chuck and Twoey in Daleville, and the creepy cult caravan zeroing in. So even more on David's plate. This is turning out to be a hell of a year for him. He probably might not even even make it to those college years.

    Well surely what everyone else said, but I was impressed with Andy who showed his strength again. Placing himself where the big bully would have to go through him to get to Zander, agreeing to be interviewed by Ms Bully and handling it quite well,and refusing his, by now, natural urge to flee shows a new strength. While the fire under him is dangerous and hot, it can also anneal him. So lets hope for an even stronger Andy!

    Drew has a very valid point in the sibling rivalry and the loss of Jared to (ostensibly) her brother causing her to be pushed over the edge BUT it's got to be more than that. Carly is seriously f**kd up emotionally and I think it's way too much to be in the 'my brother always gets his way, territory. Whew! That being said, at length , Craig has his work cut out for himself re: Jared. Both because of Jared and because of himself. Each has his own unusual limits internally drawn. OK Gary, you've given us enough issues for about 100 chapters. You said this was gonna be short?

    Hey, thanks Spikey for your review and always probing questions - I really appreciate them! Obviously a lot of pieces haven't fit together quite yet. But, as you mentioned, we have a year for it to happen. What we shouldn't overlook is the fact everything is seen only through Toph's eyes. Gary may already know 'their connection' but Toph clearly doesn't. Also, as we've figured out before, Toph's assumptions aren't always correct. He's only 19 and trying to understand his world, but he's all we've got. Steve. Clearly Steve is falling in love with Toph. And Toph does seem to recognize it. And Steve IS doing something for Toph. Beyond that, we'll need to observe.

    So Robbie is feeling guilty and ashamed, as well he should. But we learn from our mistakes and I'm sure he learned from his drug experimentation. So where does that leave Robbie? It seems he's going to try climbing out by overcompensating with Fran. But then, where does that leave Nathan in the mix? Will he be able to refuse Alex? (who btw has some stuff on his phone he can use to get his way.) Lots of nice stuff here Dodger!

    Thanks tim! I think he definitely doesn't like it - all the attention, that is. I'm sure it's not what he expected for his future life when he left Euphoria. That being said, he seems overwhelmed by it all. Do you suppose he'll push back against it a little?

    Thanks for your review and comments! Yes, Toph's life has grown pretty complicated pretty fast, hasn't it. Being "free" and on his own has stripped him of one of his defense mechanisms too -- being able to invisibly snipe at his opponents!

    Thank you for your review Brian! I'm happy you're enjoying it so much! Thoph is not everyone's cup of tea. I understand that. And some are drawn into what you call "wit and lightness" but seem to overlook what's really going on. I hope you enjoy the rest of 'Toph's Empty Year', as he tries to fill it up!

    Thanks for your review jess! Your question is a good one. Since we only witness Toph's encounters through his own eyes, it's difficult to understand what the others think of him, or what's internal vis-a-vis what's external. We seemed to have been led to earlier incorrect assumptions about Austin and Nico, after all.

    Thanks Graeme for your usual probing comments! Clearly the degree of Toph's earlier-life damage is not going away as quickly as we or he desired. In his defense, he seems to be moving forward. Unfortunately the very act of moving forward creates new challenges for him. But then, he has a whole empty year to fill.

    A great chapter Parker. A major step for Andy! He performed a sexual act which had previously been stamped into his brain with bad memories. As he said, he was replacing bad memories with good ones. Let's hope school isn't too horrible for them on Monday. It'll be interesting to see how each handles it.

    JACC is right, it was a nice chapter! It moved smoothly and highlighted the growing relationship between Owen and CJ. I'm glad Owen put his foot down about paying for lunch. CJ's usually a quick learner. And there was only one (I think) asshole.

    Hey Lisa! Thanks for the review! You're right about Chuck. We'll get into his head with his POV from time to time. Now we just have to stop Matty from drooling over fresh meat. Sam will come up with something good. Actually he'll give us a couple shocks on Sunday. But first David has to survive a date with Lanni and a trip to Syracuse.
