  1. Thanks Parker! David does have that 'trying to help others' quality from time to time, it's why we keep him around. The web to Twoey is growing stronger, but the fuse to Enos is getting shorter. Then - all bets are off.
  2. And I smiled. And I cried a little more ... This chapter is sad, mournful, and regretful. It is also powerfully beautiful. Poetic really. Thanks skinny. Thanks oxala It was a difficult chapter to write, I cried too
  3. Thanks oxala! Thanks for continuing with "18 Weeks" - and for liking it! About you last question, I think David had Lanni on the 'right after I get rid of Kathy' list. He thinks she's a lost cause now because he can't envisioning her not falling completely for Twoey. - maybe a little projection there ...haha?
  4. Probably only the nude son would be arrested
  5. A very interesting chapter Gary! My fondness for Carly grows Jared has himself in a bit of a bind. Craig seems to think he can work some magic, somehow. At least he seems to have some means. I suppose a DNA test is in order, but as Caz mentioned, how would it affect Jared to learn he wasn't the father. I can't see Carly voluntarily agreeing to anything good, so it might be time to lawyer up. But knowing you, we're on our way down Lombard Street. A fine story Gary!! Can't wait for more.
  6. A man's wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed. - Ecclesiastes *** The morning run was cold with freezing rain. We can handle it, but sometimes we get a little snow here, so Gary and I decided we'd text each other first on questionable mornings. Syracuse gets bombed with snow every winter but it usually doesn't reach us. Their snow comes down from Lake Ontario and we're just that much farther southwest. Coastal storms usually don't make it this far west. The
  7. Robbie has finally done it. The kiss with Nathan has to shake something loose! You're painting him into a corner Dodger I still worry about Alex and the potential of his little video. Keep them coming!
  8. A lovely poem Parker! Warm, yet observant. Cool yet involved. It's so Prussian Blue
  9. Thanks oxala! Others have expressed worry about Tommy at this point. But no concern, he's not drinking the Kool-Aid, just investigating. Good eye on the 'my mother' slip - no one else mentioned it. It's edited and fixed now -- thanks again!
  10. Thanks oxala! A great review! Yeah, David's little talk where Twoey and he were thinking different things ...hehe. Especially when David suggested Erik was feeling Twoey out. up? As you get to know Tommy better you'll suspect he knew exactly the way he wanted to ask that question,
  11. Thanks for your comments oxala! I'm glad you're enjoying the story. As you'll discover, David doesn't ask how Sam knows stuff, just that he's well connected. We DO find out, eventually, how Sam knows about the Mikes.
  12. Thanks for the insightful review Graeme! You make very solid points. Your second paragraph takes note of something significant in trying to understand why he went along with the England plan. Toph is very goal oriented. Of course he doesn't want to be reminded of his Euphoric background, but he can hold his nose while he navigates into Abington. I also think you might be onto the reason for the unease in Steve's mind. Toph simply has moved into a different sphere.

    Suffer

Poignant thoughts tim, beautifully expressed. Think of the great number of lover-halves for whom these lines apply. Dark teal with highlights of pink.
  14. lol Great review dayne!! Right in the spirit of 18 Weeks! Actually, accepted standards would account for over 100 gay boys in the high school, or 25-50 in the frosh & soph classes -- and we've only accounted for a handful. The other suggestion that David is projecting ...Yikes! THAT would be an interesting story to write ...hehe Others have mentioned Tommy too, but I don't get any gay vibes from him ...aside from batman & robin Thanks for a GREAT review!!
  15. Thanks jess! Your review was being posted as I was replying to Def's! The two possibilities I mentioned in her reply are exectly what you brought out in the first paragraph. Great minds Whichever was Toph's reasoning, it left Steve out completely. Steve felt it. I'm sure he's right to be worried. Thanks for your great comments!
  16. Well yes. Two possibilities, I'd guess: First, Toph is 19, a naive skeptic, somehow trusting Gary, although feeling hurt by him. Conflicting, complex but DISTINCTLY POSSIBLE given all of what has come before. Second, Toph is remarkably mature for his age and has his eye clearly focused on the goal. Even willing to pass through an uncomfortable period to get there. It has to be related to one of those two ideas, or his life doesn't make sense. And whatever he is or whatever he does, Toph's life has to make sense to him. As for Gary and Steve, we'll have to see I guess. Thanks for dredging this all up Def!

    Chapter 7

Six months of Daniel hasn't chased Rayn away, in fact he's closer now than ever. In their own way, they're each amazing. Now meeting mother. That'll be interesting -- can't wait -- OK maybe I can Thanks for sharing another great chapter in a fascinating story!!
  18. Thanks tim! The worst thing about the power was wrapping their offer in enticements Toph couldn't resist. The loan officer probably only looked at the ACH header. If Toph insisted, the real donor could certainly be revealed. He may not know (or want to know) he can do that. Great insight, as always!!
  19. Thanks for the great review Rex! Definitely behind the scenes crap going on here. I'm not sure Steve is involved. OK, maybe paranoia ...hehe. A motive would probably be necessary to understand any possible mom/Gary/daddy collusion. I'm not sure we have a clear one ...yet. But you're right. Gary's fingerprints are appearing in too many places!
  20. Toxic family indeed! I don't think Toph missed the 'intimate' nature of his mother's invitation -- you have to invite your son to a family dinner? It only strengthened his resolve. I'm not sure Gary sees what he does as harmful. He's simply clueless at this point. Let's hope he begins to see the light after Toph punishes him, which he's sure to do. Thanks for the great comments - and on the Toph Forum too!
  21. Poor Steve indeed! I'll bet back when he was attracted to the cute boy leaving his store, he never realized he might be in a battle to keep him! Steve seems to have a gut instinct he won't be able to match the power thrown at him. Thanks for the great comments!

    Late November

Thanks for the comment and insight, tim. You're correct, he said he was doomed, but not why. Doomed to succumb to The General, doomed to lose Steve, or as you suggest, doomed to make the decision?

    Late November

Thanks for the comments Tim, Yes, without a doubt, Toph's real battle is with himself. He does have insight in his mental state, but he doesn't realize who he's struggling against ...yet.
  24. What a nice beginning. I'm glad I didn't know this story from "elsewhere" as it will develop with the mystery it deserves. Although there doesn't seem to be too much mystery of Patrick's attraction. Now, about those Danes... Thanks for sharing this with us Tim!!
  25. Thanks Tim - I'm glad Toph's not the only one to be pissed-off!
